I’m off to Berlin today any recommendations while I am out there with Mrs Dr.Who?

I have tickets for Metallica while out there on the Saturday, which will be the 14th time seeing them. We return late on Sunday. 😃 🇩🇪

We went last April, my main recommendation would be the Third Reich walking tour, that was fascinating. We also took a day trip by train to Dresden which was very good.

Does that include lessons in Goose-stepping?

As a fully-fledged supporter of the Reform party, I give the lessons!

Went recently and enjoyed bars in Kreuzberg - sort of anti-fascist Bohemian part.

Felt very quiet compared to other busy cities but as above post recommend a WW2 walking tour. Wasn’t fussed about Checkpoint Charlie and Brandenburg Gate but some good free museums. Topography of Terror if you want a reminder of how evil the Nazis were. Also some interesting stuff about the wall.
Season finished but football is a different level there in terms of experience of the day with thousands there two hours before game drinking etc.

Transport easy to get around on trains, didn’t try the trams, although Ubers were very cheap too.

Good shouts. Checkpoint Charlie is nothing really but you feel as though you have to see it. Forgot about Topography of Terror, that was very good.

I found it a fascinating place, we did a guided walking tour (some are tip only), if you get a good guide, you'll learn so much. Agree with the other comments about Topography of terror, and checkpoint charlie.

Take a trabant for a drive, with a bit of luck you'll get one with working brakes 😬.

The concentration camp a Sauchenhausen is fascinating/harrowing/horrific at the same time, especially the "hospital".

Don't be afraid to mention the war, the Berliners have properly taken ownership.

Look out for bullet holes in the older buildings, once you see one, you realise they're everywhere.

Don't go out of your way to see, Hitlers bunker, it's now a kids sandpit on a housing estate.

Fantastic stuff. We will get some of these booked in. Just spent the first night on the 15th floor of our hotel chatting and drinking looking out over the east of the city! Very quiet on the main road in and out of Berlin!
picked up some leaflets in the hotel and there was this one! Are you kidding me!
