PaulSaint Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 Loved him as a player but 6 goals in 3 games! Maybe an experienced defensive coach may have been a better bet? Wotte now has 2 points from nine, if the defence had let in one each match instead of two then we would have had seven!
Colinjb Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 Do not use him as a scapegoat for a larger issue.
team-saint Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 don't really see what you're getting at here. our defence hasnt been great all season and perry and saeijs know how to defend themselves without killer. anyway he's only been coach for a week so i think if he is supposed to be working specifically on defending then we must give him longer
yellow&blue Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 Killer was only brought in to the coaching team to try and appease the fans over the appointment of Wotte, which would not have been that popular. I mean, how many Saints fans would have a bad word to say about him as a player? There is no way that you are going to be able to make our defence look good in 3 games, no matter how experienced you are..............

Well I hope he comes good then, if he doesnt we are fooked!
SaintRobbie Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 Killer isnt a defensive coach - he's an injured player and loyal servant of the club who was paraded to appease the fans last Monday with a good news story. He might be one one day... but you dont become a defensive coach in a week.
alpine_saint Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 Do not use him as a scapegoat for a larger issue. Fair comment, but he has allowed himself to be used as a PR tool.

Exactly - and just because he was a damn good player does not follow that he will be a good coach (deal with it). Not only that, he only has the players that are in front of him and if they are not very good - then no amount of coaching is going to make them great. Whitey Grandad Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 No amount of coaching is going to turn James into a right-back.
Bailey Posted 3 February, 2009 Share Posted 3 February, 2009 I don't think it's fair to criticise Svensson one bit. The majority of fans can see that he was brought in to appease the fans. IF he is having any input, then we have a bit of hope as you can guarantee he would do what he thought was best for SFC.
Toussaint Posted 4 February, 2009 Share Posted 4 February, 2009 Fair comment, but he has allowed himself to be used as a PR tool. Or he could just taken an opportunity to do what he thinks is the right thing for him, his club and the supporters? He can't be knocked for that. chocco boxo Posted 4 February, 2009 Share Posted 4 February, 2009 Shame we have to even discuss this, Killer probably was asked by Lowe and feels that he is obliged to help the club, as the club has stood by him. He should have just limped away in the summer so that he was not tarred with this terrible regime.
brightspark Posted 4 February, 2009 Share Posted 4 February, 2009 Wotte now has 2 points from nine, if the defence had let in one each match instead of two then we would have had seven! We would have had 7 if we had scored 1 more goal... blame Gorre instead!!! ffs
70's Mike Posted 4 February, 2009 Share Posted 4 February, 2009 Players play by instinct , coaching is entirely different.

Coaching /Training is an on-going process. Every match is different, diff.moves, diff. tactics - it's not like driving a F1 car round the same track 50 times in a row....and isn't something you learn like ABC. The main problem with a great many football teams is that ...half of them never learned their ABC... and the other half have forgotten it ! It's one of the few professions where someone can get paid enormous sums of money without any real intelligence.... and only by using his FEET! Now, you're expecting players to use their be brains, too. If we only hired players according to their IQ many teams would be hard put to it to field 11 on a Saturday..or any other day of the week. There aren't any Einsteins in our squad, or anyone elses either. We're all good at analysing, but if it were that easy we wouldn't be where we are now. oops just re-read that...apologies in advance, but the red mist just hit me ........but the truth is in there somewhere.
