Andoverian Posted 18 February, 2009 Share Posted 18 February, 2009 Fisher Utd have allowed a girl who worked on the turnstile to manage the team against Eastleigh tonight as she raised 500 quid for the cash strapped club. Im very surprised Rupert hasn't come up with the idea. After all it might be an improvement on what has gone on this season

Im very surprised Rupert hasn't come up with the idea. After all it might be an improvement on what has gone on this season I can't imagine he's allow that to happen... Unless he oversaw the team selection first. Imagine the embarrassment, you bring in a Dutch Revolution that delivers fook all, then a fan comes in and the team wins 4-0. Hahaha...let it happen just to see that arrogant ruddy face get redder.

Sounds like RL actually had the idea first, I hope he took a patent out.
bungle Posted 18 February, 2009 Share Posted 18 February, 2009 It's Fisher Athletic isn't it? Also, they have a massive court date in March (I think), where they could well be wound up. So I wouldn't take the mick out of them if I were you.

Sounds like we have a lot in common then...we are supposedly tinkering on the depths of Admin, and Fisher have appointed a short term manager who spends a lot of time looking in the mirror... Genius. channonwindmill Posted 18 February, 2009 Share Posted 18 February, 2009 Five hundred quid?? Wait a couple of months and we'll be able to buy the whole of SFC for that.
bungle Posted 18 February, 2009 Share Posted 18 February, 2009 Five hundred quid?? Wait a couple of months and we'll be able to buy the whole of SFC for that. That £500 could really help make the difference between Fisher remaining a football club or going totally out of business in March. Again, I find it sickening that people who call themselves football fans are prepared to joke about a club that may not exist in 4 weeks time. Well it's a good job that they haven't got Rupey or the Gelding in charge then isn't it? Because then they would have fook all chance of bringing any money in from others or putting any in themselves... Seriously I hope Fisher survive, when I was a kid I always remember them having the odd good day in the FA Cup. Sad state of affairs, but that's football for you - you can't choose who runs the club. Mr saint Posted 18 February, 2009 Share Posted 18 February, 2009 I know they're in a very different situation to us, but has anyone seen what's happening to Weymouth at the moment? It's very sad to see a club like that going down the pan, as I've always had a soft spot (seen Saints there a few times during pre-season) for them and thought it wouldn't be long before they get up into the football league. Could you imagine our OS putting out desperate pleas to save our Saints should we ever sink so low, like this?: http://www.theterras.co.uk/ One thing I did notice on their website though is that appearently they contacted a number of Premiership and Championship sides to see if anyone can help them out by having bucket collections or what not around the ground. Does anyone know if Saints were contacted? Sorry to hijack the thread, but thought it needed a mention. Could some kind soul perhaps post a thread in the Lounge about it, if it's not allowed here? saint_stevo Posted 18 February, 2009 Share Posted 18 February, 2009 maybe Peter Reid would be interested in paying to be manager? Or maybe Channons sideburns would pay it for him?

Again, I find it sickening that people who call themselves football fans are prepared to joke about a club that may not exist in 4 weeks time. Why not joke about it? It's not really a rich seam of material, but it isn't "sickening". Non-league is the lifeblood of football and clubs going to the wall is nothing to be joked about. Yes it is. It's a football club possibly going out of business. It's hardly the holocaust. Perspective, please.
buctootim Posted 18 February, 2009 Share Posted 18 February, 2009 Can anyone think of a team climbing the leagues and doing well the old way, ie without a sugar daddy to finance them? Seems like all those who have to rely on their own resources, the big four or five apart, are struggling.

Channon's Sideburns Posted 18 February, 2009 Share Posted 18 February, 2009 (edited) maybe Peter Reid would be interested in paying to be manager? Or maybe Channons sideburns would pay it for him? Thanks Stevo.. I've already put as much money as I can into this club..has Rupert?? If you take into account ticket purchases, spend in the club shop, matchball sponsorship and spend during games over 29 years it would add up to a lot. Like others I would put the money up if I had it to bring someone else in - if I had the money tomorrow, I'd do it on the proviso that Lowe and Wilde walked. It is much better to offer something constructive towards our current situation rather than watch it crash and burn. Bringing in a manager of Reid's experience would be a positive, even if it was short term a la Pearson to secure our survival. With Wotte we have fook all chance of surviving....
