He couldn't help getting a cheap shot in at the fans though...

"I'm very happy with the result and for the fans," he said. "They showed their true character in the stadium and they were supportive and we played a good game and scored goals which is what we needed to get the fans behind us."

It may be pedantic, but was there any need to add the 'in the stadium' bit?

true colours...hmmm

I waould say if he was having a go if the fans were 'bad'...if the fans were good then surely what he says is a good thing..

I have heard him say the support was fanstastic and he willed the team to win it for the fans...(on ssn just now)

I agree with you, he did say the support was fantastic.

I'm just asking if it was necessary for him to add 'in the stadium', which to me leaves the unsaid 'out of the stadium', which IMHO is implying the fans outside were crap!

He could have just left it at 'They showed their true character'.

to be fair..I would do the same if i had logged on here 24 hours ago and see so many like stanley and saintrobbie wanting me to fail and generally making up bullshyte to serve their purpose

I'm not the blokes biggest fan but I really think you are reading too much into that.

Like I said, I may be being pedantic, but like I also said, people in a position to get there opinions aired in public, need to choose their words carefully.

Fact of life TDD whatever is said WILL be picked apart, it's human nature I'm afraid, for which I won't apologise :(

I think most open-minded people would be more positive about Wotte if he hadn't been so quick to sound like Rupert's parrot.

He's made some mistakes in team selection but at least he appears to be learning from them. He seems capable of adjusting in a way JP never really was. For me, he's as good as his last game, and right now that's pretty damn good.

If he could just drop the needless comments and make sure that the side shows the fight we expect, things will settle down.

Please stop being the judge and jury on everything Wotte says. I heard his interviews and he was praising the fans - in fact he tried to say that was he all he was intending earlier in the week - sadly people like you want to find fault......

To be honest if we have fans who interpret the nuance of a sentence to fit their own agenda, then he's not far wrong with his "true supporters" claim....

You are not wrong. Some of our "fans" are so bloody precious. Hes now getting stick for only praising the fans in the stadium ! If I were him Im not sure I would be bigging up the road sitters.

Just a shame he couldn't give the fans any credit, who I thought were excellent today.

Did you actually read his comments?

He said

"Wotte also had plenty of praise for the fans at St. Mary's and was pleased to finally be able to send them home happy.

"I'm very happy with the result and for the fans," he said. "They showed their true character in the stadium and they were supportive and we played a good game and scored goals which is what we needed to get the fans behind us."

Maybe my english isn't as good as some.

That said Wotte in his statement praised every fan watching the game. No mention of the few who chose not to enter after the march. Thus he actually seemed to include the marchers as the vast majority watched the game as well.

"They showed their true character in the stadium and they were supportive" in no way, to me, is having a dig at the marchers. It could even be a back handed compliment if you look hard enough. The marchers showed their feelings about the board outside and cheered the team on like crazy. He is unlikely to say much against the regime now is he?

I for one still have my doubts about his prowess but badly want him to succeed. Some on here seem paranoid.
