eelpie Posted 7 March, 2009 Share Posted 7 March, 2009 http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/ray-ranson-sky-blue-thinking-1639167.html Would we be in a better position now if Ranson's Hedge Fund had taken us over? Was it just Lowe who spiked the deal? Do we know any more about what went on behind the scenes then? Just curious. But best of luck to Coventry in the cup. I want all CCC clubs to do well against Premiership teams, especially Chelsea.

OldNick Posted 7 March, 2009 Share Posted 7 March, 2009 Coleman was spoken to about the job here. RL LC and other shareholders put forward questions tat were not aswered and so yes isuppose rL was part of the reason we werent taken over by them
bridge too far Posted 7 March, 2009 Share Posted 7 March, 2009 I found this sentence in the article quite interesting: "I looked at a few clubs' accounts that frightened me to death"
ottery st mary Posted 7 March, 2009 Share Posted 7 March, 2009 Our accounts....Unlike Barnet a few years ago, who under Stan Flashman burnt their accounts..if they ever had any. I think our accounts are still available..but to scrutiny ..I would not comment...Best left to our expert money men like jonah and Rupes...No wonder the world is in such wonderful financial bliss. I am sure we will be ok one day.
SW11_Saint Posted 7 March, 2009 Share Posted 7 March, 2009 Of course we would have been - pretty much anything would have been preferable to the situation we are in now, but investment, sensible leadership and decent young manager like Coleman, and after a worrying finish last year like us, now sitting comfortably in mid-table and building sensibly. Yes please. Coleman was talking the other day on R5L about how good it was having a supportive Chairman, who also knew the game.
ottery st mary Posted 7 March, 2009 Share Posted 7 March, 2009 To be fair both our Football Chairmen are still learning the game of Football and will need a little more time and lots of the fans to be a tad more patient.

I don't think you need a wholesale change in ownership to achieve sensible leadership. Liverpool are on the hunt for a CEO, we should just go out and join them. (then again maybe we should forward Lowe's CV to Hicks & Gillet as we're always being told how successful and great he is;))

St Paul Posted 7 March, 2009 Share Posted 7 March, 2009 I always thought we could come to regret missing out on SISU, certainly I would back Coventry to reach the Prem before us. Wonder what would have happened had SISU taken over, and then run the Club the way Lowe & Wilde have . Would people be praising them for their visionary policies, claiming there was no other way. Or would they be considered incomptant fools, who were toatally cluless.
SaintRichmond Posted 7 March, 2009 Share Posted 7 March, 2009 Their deal was right for Coventry but not for us - according to certain geniuses on here. The ONLY "genius" who thought the deal "wrong" for us was ... YES ... Mr Lowe Lowe the "genius" Got rid of Pearson, who will pass us on our way down# Got rid of Poortvliet, after appointing him in the first place Got rid of Goalscorers Got rid of any and every approach to outsiders Investing in SFC Insisted on playing Youngsters only just out of their Academy Nappies All that has resulted in a Team that is NOT CCC standard, and a circa 5000 drop in attendances Well done Rupert, as always, you always know best, and no one can ever improve upon your in depth knowledge of Football The Future's Bright, The Future's Low(e)

Then as now, such serious issues were clouded by the personalities involved and doubts over their true motives.Did Lowe and Wilde look to 'spike' the deal to prevent others taking from they considered their own trough ? Frankly,we will never really know. To paraphrase your final comment : The futures sh1te,the futures Low(e).

Perhaps the only way. I just can't see Lowe, Wilde, Crouch all agreeing on one person to take this role, particularly not Lowe as he see's this as his role exclusively. Whatever happened to Mark Palios? He was very well thought of at the FA, before getting involved in that office nookie...
