I couldn't get to the game yesterday due to business commitments and have read quite a lot of the reports of the game and got somes views who did go.

I do understand the fans disappointment and I agree. So I looked back at this time last season to try and guage how our results went. The 9th game from the end of last season we beat Leicester 1-0 after drawing a game home to Ipswich and away to Wolves. 2 of those games would have been seen as must win. We followed the home win to Leicester up with the 5-0 away defeat at hull (due to some unfortunate injuries etc). The then 'must win 'game of Coventry finished in a 0-0 draw and then a loss to Cardiff ( i was confident we would get something there as they were looking to the cup final and had nothing to play for). A vital home game then came up which was high flying Bristol city which we won 2-0. Charlton away we drew 1-1 and then had the Burnley home 'must win' game against a side who were playing for their holidays. We lost 1-0 at home. That put us in dire straights and left us with the daunting thought of away to WBA and home to high flying play off chasing SU. Thankfully a brave display at WBA got us a point and left us with a 'definately must win' against SU.

Basically Im trying to point out that whilst (even Wotte has said he expected us to win 1 of the 2 games) it is a real blow not to have won either of the last 2 home games there still will be twists and turns and we can still do save outselves.

The Blackpool game will tell us a lot and after that game if we lose whilst we wont be down our chances of safety will be slashed dramatically.

Nick you were very lucky you did miss this one, another uninspiring game with hardly any shots on goal. I really like Gillett but why doesnt he shoot when the ball comes back out of the box to him he forever passes it to his right, we really do need to take more shots.

I can accept losing, I can even accept getting relegated as part of footie, but the thing that is most difficult is having no clear future and having no hope of things being different and better at the club regardless of what happens.

This heightens the feeling of helplessness when I sit and watch as a season ticket holder week in and week out, the faith is thinly stretched today!!!

That's all very well, but teams around us weren't in sh*t hot form last season.

Barnsley, L L W D W L D L

Notts F, L L L W W D L L (5-0)

Charlton, D D L L D L

Plymouth - L L D W W D L L

Saints W W W L D D

If I was any of those 4 teams don't think I would be confident thinking we are in form?

I cant remember who was down with us, but some must have been as Leicester only dropped into the bottom 3 last game of the season.

OK we havent won many recently but we have only lost 1 in 6 or so games. The defence has tightened (very much like last season) and so perhaps iam clutching at straws but it is not all over by a long way.

Thanks Lady saint. i was going to look and see if the bit you put last week about the pitch being narrowed. Iwonder if the track the linesmen leave over the season would be evident and being set back, if you see what I mean

He did shoot a couple of times but in the second half they closed him down a lot quicker.

just thinking about those sequences - next games are big, all teams are at least 3 without a win - if that starts going to 4 or 5 for anyone then it will be hard for them to turn their form around this late on

I am sure it definitely has been narrowed a couple of other people saw the post and when they looked said that they could see that it had been narrowed, at least we havent lost since it has though.
I'll try and get a definative answer.
