Mole Posted 6 May, 2009 Share Posted 6 May, 2009 (edited) When Saints have been taken one of the priorities will have to be marketing the club. As an ex season ticket holder and member the comunication from Saints since both lapsed has been non existant. This is an area where the new board need to make changes and use the data base to contact potential customers. Not everyone will want a season ticket but if marketed correctly many will want a membership. Also there needs to be a new gimicky catchphrase. And possibly other initiatives. This Wichester based company might be able to help for example: Edited 6 May, 2009 by Baj we can do without the free adverts thanks

saints_is_the_south Posted 6 May, 2009 Share Posted 6 May, 2009 Agreed, marketing needs to improve. The club really should consider putting a ticket point in the West Quay store. I know they already have one in the Marlands but i think it would be serve the club better if it was actually located in the saints store. I might not be correct but i'd imagine we have to be paying some sort of fee to use the mayflower ticket point in the marlands? The benefits of having it in the saints store in west quay is that it wouldn't cost the club anything (apart from having a ticket kiosk installed) & with people coming into buy tickets they may be tempted into buying other items in the shop whilst passing by. There wouldn't even be the need for any extra staff in there because most of the time whenever I'm in the store there are normally atleast 2 staff stood around doing nothing who could quite easily man the ticket point. I'm unsure about the profitabilty of even having a Saints Store aside from the club shop (megastore). I'd be inclined to close it if i was the new owners. Dicko Posted 6 May, 2009 Share Posted 6 May, 2009 Have Saints ever had a dedicated sales team that doesn't simply comprise of a couple of office staff? I've always wondered how effective it would be to employ a very good rep, who spends their day out in the field, interacting with companies & raising awareness of the club in the community
Mole Posted 6 May, 2009 Author Share Posted 6 May, 2009 If it wasn't making money it would have been closed surely? I thought it did okay, as it gets all the west quay shoppers while the megastore just gets matchday people usually. It'd be a shame to lose it IMO. Like i said i'm unsure as to it's profitability. spain saint Posted 6 May, 2009 Share Posted 6 May, 2009 I have always thought that we should give other companies the licence to our merchandise so that we can buy stuff all over the world, it would also raise our profile! It is so hard to buy Saints products anywhere else apart from Southampton.

I'd be inclined to close it if i was the new owners. I would change the whole focus of the store - is it the case that you can still only buy shirts and stuff in the official shops or online? need to get back to try reclaiming fans from Basingstoke, Andover, and the outlining territorys. It could have a couple of promotions girls and blow up goals and you could take penalties agains super saint and the like. You would also be able to buy tickets from the bus - It could play oh when the saints out of some ice cream horns.... Its a lovely vision!!! Also we should be doing some kind of tie in with the cricket club - acombined membership for footy and cricket.

Amesbury Saint Posted 6 May, 2009 Share Posted 6 May, 2009 I'd expect that's because outside of Southampton there's no demand. Interesting point that. I suspect that there are lots of people who went to matches whilst in the premiership but have drifted away. In Amesbury friends of my son - two 16 year olds, both Saints fans, stopped going when then fathers stoped going a few years back. I provided transport and they saw 3 home matches at the end of the seaon and they are hooked on Saints. Also both wanted to buy the BOGOFF offer on away shirt but the club had sold out their size. Saints gain 2 fans. If the club can be effective in their marketing both in and around Southampton and we can sort out transport then the fans will come back. Even in a bad season.
