  1. Well I think it was stated in a recent athletic article that he intends to bring a heavy possession based philosophy. Which is massively needed by the way because it’s something we’ve neglected for a while now. But also his body of work suggests this too. His teams at City played this way and he was promoted from within a few times which suggests his views aligned with City as a whole and they trusted him to implement that. I’d be surprised if he comes here and tells us his technically good teams he helped develop at City were all against his views. Pretty sure there is a podcast or two about with him on too which might be worth a listen.
  2. This will be a Wilcox lead candidate I’m sure. Possession heavy and similar principles to everything we know about Wilcox. Suspect we’ll get our answer to who is leading this appointment based on Carrick v Martin if Pilchards is correct that Carrick is Rasmus’s number 1 choice.
  3. Yes. It's perfectly normal for someone to jack in a ridiculously good contract whilst he's injured for a temporary managers job at a club he's booed at everytime he comes back that would highly likely end in relegation.
  4. You mean contracted to Brighton Lallana?
  5. Well it was just a hunch and it was based on a very similar conversation that you seem to have had with him as well (although mine was a very drunken one to be fair). But if he's been offering his services for a while but being rejected, then I think when we were most desperate the club might have been tempted. He's around the club a lot for charity and ex players stuff, he's got coaching experience, he's popular and relationship with the odd player too. I'm not sure who else it could have been. Ex popular player with coaching experience (presumably)...? Anyway it doesn't matter, I suspect the Arsenal result changed everything
  6. 1) Not just lazy but nowhere near physical enough. Jones mentioned this a lot when he was here. Watching Luton last night it was obvious that given the time he had, he'd recruited lots of pace, strength and height. All areas we lack. 2) Think this might have been Beattie. As for what happened...from memory your post was just before the point we got at Arsenal...I suspect that didn't help 3) I'd be very surprised if, having appointed Wilcox, if Ankerson and Wilcox's ideas don't align. So I have no issue with both being involved. That's just a healthy working relationship.
  7. Carrick would be a cracking appointment and should rightly be number 1 target. Delivers for the people who want a ‘name’. Has experience of delivering relevant success in the league and also has an unknown ceiling. Probably also brings an out of contract top scorer with him too. Don’t think it’s any coincidence that the two managers on the shortlist revealed seasons are over. Other two potentially have games to come. Carrick and Cooper I would suggest.
  8. This is what tempts me about this guy or someone like this guy. St Marys has become such a dull place to be as a Saints fan, all I want next season is the knowledge that the team I support has worked all week on implementing attacking play and therefore will potentially bring entertaining football. We've been so under coached attacking wise for years now, our best attacking play comes from our off the ball work and winning the ball high up the pitch, that's all we have. Just give me a manager who wants to work on us in possession. Results will come if they're good but lets make the home games fun to go to again please.
  9. Ah someone got it. My memory of reports out at the time he left was that there were quite a few dissatisfied with him and his coaching as well as fights at the training ground. I could be wrong because I didn’t take a complete interest in it and I also deleted it because I couldn’t be bothered to talk more about a manager whose record speaks for itself
  10. Edit: CBA actually so consider this deleted 😂
  11. Also Diallo a rat? 😂 more of a mouse as I haven’t heard a thing from him all season, what’s he done to deserve being called a rat?
  12. There’s nobody in the squad I genuinely believe wasn’t trying. They’ve just been horribly man managed by Ralph and then horribly tactically coached by the following two managers. Add in the removal of experienced heads and you’ve got a group disillusioned and lacking the tactical and technical ability to change things. I think people just hold themselves in different ways. A group of 30 players aren’t all going to Lyanco and clap and cheer every tackle but it doesn’t mean they don’t care. As for your ratings, if tall Paul is trying his best why he is not a 10? And why is Theo’s lack of pace a factor in an effort and commitment rating?
  13. True and would we take a promotion followed by a sacking in the PL the year after? Probably but it does feel a bit meh and there's no guarantee he delivers promotion (he's never delivered a higher finish that 4th as a manager).
  14. I've actually looked into this a little because of the other thread and they did work at the club at the same time. Wilcox was a coach and manager of the U18's whilst Viera was coaching the EDS so there is a link and cross over where they had to work with each other.
  15. Hope rather than proven mediocrity would be good. Would rather gamble on the unproven than the proven average manager. I want to be entertained at St Marys for the first time in a long time, that's all, so a manager who focuses on coaching attacking possession play into the side please, it's not a high expectation.
  16. Would be a poor appointment IMO because he has proven on more than one occasion he's not been able to turn around a bad run of results and has resorted to defensive football both times resulting in no job lasting more than 2.5 years. But that said, he's got a weirdly positive reputation and fans would get behind him so that would be a good start but evidence suggests it'll last little longer than a year.
  17. His one fairly decent season at Palace is the experience we need.
  18. Says person who has tried convincing everyone that ‘managing a PL scale club’ is inspiring. I really hope you don’t work in recruitment.
  19. Have you answered any of my questions about people and their relevant experience yet?
  20. Is it clear? I’ve asked whether Schumachers promotion from League One is relevant experience? Nobody has answered. I’ve asked if Martins experience of the Championship is acceptable? Nobody has answered. I’ve asked if Pochettino had the relevant experience when we got him? Nobody answered. I’ve asked whether Viera and Gerrard are considered experienced enough and if so, why their experiences are more relevant than others and nobody has answered. I’m sorry for wondering what experience people want and highlighting that people have different definitions of the experience they want.
  21. Selles has managed a PL scale club but he's not delivered any success and doesn't inspire anyone, but they are definitely all the same thing.
  22. I didn’t say that. I asked if that persons definition of success included Potters body of work. It was a question because again, ‘success’ is a nothing word if it’s not defined. You can add loads of names to this btw. Gerrard, Viera, Lampard, Rooney are all mentioned on here. Do they inspire? Have they delivered success in the Championship or higher?
  23. As above. We have managing in the PL, someone who has had success in the Championship or higher, or your own definition of experience which includes knowledge, know how, inspiring and gravitas. There are many who have managed in the PL who haven’t delivered success in the Championship or higher. They also wouldn’t inspire. But there may be some who would inspire that haven’t managed at the PL or delivered success in the Championship or higher. Is Potters experience of a mid table finish in the Championship in one season and some decent work in the PL enough to be considered a success? It would certainly inspire. Pochettino didn’t have any success as a coach before us, but he certainly inspired and had know how. Different people, different needs.
  24. Relevant experience. What does relevant experience entail? Does Russel Martin have relevant experience? He’s managed in the Championship just like Potter has but didn’t manage above yet so maybe not? Someone said before Potter experience of PL is relevant experience, so maybe Martin does have the gravitas needed because he played more at the top level than Potter? Schumacher has delivered a promotion? Is that relevant experience or is there not enough gravitas? We might get there but in reality the word experience means different things to different people so maybe we won’t.
  25. Yeah probably. Or just that in wondering what people mean when they say experience because it’s a nothing word and has resulted in already 3 different responses. But yeah I’m just nitpicking and knew exactly what it meant.
