  1. He's far too slow to play at that level. He's even slower than Hoedt.
  2. I agree. When Southgate replaced Alli with Dier, the game turned in Colombia's favour, Until then we'd looked comfortably in control. The first thing Dier did was a dodgy back pass.
  3. Unsurprisingly, Man City's owner is ranked as the best: https://talksport.com/football/393641/premier-league-owners-ranked/
  4. Is he really worth less than Carrillo?
  5. A world class goalkeeper playing in a Championship class team. But, he'll always remember winning the Premier League with Leicester. Many star players in humdrum teams never experience anything like that in their whole careers.
  6. Southgate showed a ruthless streak tonight. He steadfastly refused to bring on Kane and risk scoring an equaliser and so has given us the opportunity to reach the semi-finals, which, let's face it, was beyond our wildest dreams at the start of the tournament. By winning, Belgium have shown limited ambition and as a consequence they will be knocked out in the quarter-finals. It's an awful way to progress, I know, but that's the way the tournament is organised.
  7. It would then simply be a question of how badly we wanted to reach the final, A win v Belgium would throw away any realistic chance. But, we'd still face the same problem that France faced v Denmark in a match neither team wanted to win. Belgium are already sitting in the coveted runners-up spot. It would be hard to dislodge them as all they need to do to stay there is draw. If it followed the example of the France v Denmark game, there would be minimal effort from both sides and we'd need something so obvious that we wouldn't get away with it, like a red card or an own goal, to displace Belgium.
  8. Nils Petersen or Carlos Bacca.
  9. Do we really need another forward who only scores a goal every ten games or so? He's scored just 7 in 63 games for Celta and 1 in 17 for Denmark. He's just another Redmond.
  10. Especially if he's on paid gardening leave in Russia. I reckon you'll still be crediting Reed with masterminding signings from the grave long after he's died.
  11. Most say he would have only been 4th choice at Celtic next season, which is why they wanted to offload him. John Hartson says that he is overpiced at 7 million and that it is a good bit of business for Celtic to get that much for him.
  12. Hard to believe that Wolves had an average home gate of only 4,002 in 1985/86, when they were strugggling in the Third Division. But, right now, everyone in football ia aware that they have a very rich owner and are an ambitious club on the up and that makes a huge difference, as it could to just about any club, including Saints.
  13. It looked as though the ball accidentaly brushed Cedric's arm on the way down from his head but on closer inspection I'm not even sure it did that. You'd have to freeze-frame it to be 100% sure that the ball even touched his arm. What makes it worse is that it affects the draw for the final 16 and may have long-term consequences for which teams reach the final.
  14. Unfortunately, we're stuck with him and Hoedt, who is even worse. To think, we once had centre backs of the quality of Fonte, van Dijk, Lovren and Alderweireld.
  15. We still need more. We're level on goal difference but Belgium are ahead of us on goals scored. A draw with Belgium would see them win the group.
  16. You're a bit behind the times. He passed the retirement age of 65 last year and he hasn't bothered to keep himself in good shape. He's getting fatter and lazier. I guess he think he's on to a good thing if he can keep drawing a big salary and expenses until he's 70.
  17. You have a great owner. No doubt. We have a part owner who sold 80% of the club for a quarter of a billion pounds for herself and another who had to borrow the money to pay her because he doesn't have any spare cash. We are told that we have to sell players before we can buy, and when we do buy, the money seems to get frittered away on mediocre players. So, in the last window we sold van Dijk and bought Carrillo. I am very impressed by what Leicester's owner has done. We can only hope that one day we get one like that.
  18. I hope Kat thanked Cortese for helping her to make a billion pounds out of our football club. There can be very few owners in the history of football who have made that much money from a football club.
  19. I don't think he has any money, which is why he had to borrow the money to buy the club. I can't find him on this Forbes list. The Wolves owner is 16th with $10B and his company is prospering but where is Gao Jisheng? https://www.forbes.com/sites/russellflannery/2017/11/15/chinas-richest-2017-the-full-list-of-400-billionaires/#417f0f1a296b
  20. Most of Gao's money is tied up in Lander Sports Development, of which he is the founder and majority shareholder. Their share price seems to be falling fast and he is beginning to sell some of his shares to raise capital. I don't know how much trouble they are in but their share price is less than half what it was 12 months ago, which essentially means he is worth less than half what he was last year. But, worse still, from a high of 21.33 yuan in 2015, Lander Sports Development's shares are now worth just 3.72 yuan, and their price is still plummeting. It went down another 7.46% today. I don't claim to know much about finance but it looks to me as though he is in real trouble. https://www.bloomberg.com/quote/000558:CH
  21. We don't know yet. As in the January window, we'll have to wait until the end of the transfer window to find out. We do tend to sell early in transfer windows and buy late though, which I guess is an accounting move to save on wages and maybe it's the only way the recruitment department can get the cash they need to buy players.
  22. The difference is Leicester really wanted to keep their players whereas SFC didn't. Players like Mane, Wanyama and van Dijk were bought with the intention of selling them on for profit. Leicester's owner was more interested in building a successful football team than making money out of them.
  23. Very funny. He wouldn't even be good enough for Eastleigh.
  24. We won't. Another squad player from a continental club, like Carrillo, Boufal, Bednarek or Hoedt, would be more likely if the evidence of our recent transfer windows is anything to go by. If we get Gibson, he'll be our best signing of the last two years.
  25. Yes, he is very good. He will be a great signing if we get him.
