Jannik Vestergaard - Official: Signs for Leicester
qwertyell replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
That was the Everton game last season. Calvert-Lewin won 3-4 headers - albeit two of them by elbowing Salisu in the face, which was waved away by the officials because in England we apparently have different rules to everywhere else in the world. That said, there's no shame in getting beaten by Calvert-Lewin: he's the best striker in the league in the air. Got a leap like a salmon on a trampoline. But Salisu should be a bit more aware of what he's up against this time around. -

Do they, though? Replacing one painfully slow CB who's good in the air with another - but one who's worse on the ball - doesn't make much sense to me. -
Still got an empty slot for another domestic loan. Wouldn't be a surprise to see that filled at the back end of the window.

Got sent off over the weekend for a ridiculous tackle, incidentally. Is it AFCON this year? Not ideal to potentially lose both starting CBs, Djenepo and (if Nigeria come sniffing around) Tella for 4-6 weeks. -
What's even more mental is Areola is one of EIGHT goalkeepers on PSG's first team books - four of them full internationals.

B Team friendly with Yeovil set for tomorrow cancelled due to covid outbreak (think on Yeovil's side). https://www.ytfc.net/news/2021/august/fixture-news--southampton-b-fixture-cancelled/

He's a shadow of his pre-ACL-injury self. Pace gone. Can't stay fit. Played 90 minutes once since Feb 2018. Not sure what he'd bring other than a bit of nostalgia.

If we replace Ings with a three bed semi in Totton, the recruitment team will have a lot of explaining to do.
-
Two PL clubs said to be in for Atletico GK Ivo Grbic on loan - but Lille favourites to sign him. No indication that we're one of the PL clubs, but it'd be nice to think we're scouring the market for an upgrade on a couple of sacks of shit.
-
It's just weird to have two full backs on the pitch, but only one of them playing at full back while a winger flaps around out of position at left back.
-
Can't be arsed to translate, but it seems Danso went on strike to force his way out of the club, so I'd imagine he's just putting his side of the story now he's got his transfer.

Nketiah is just not a particuarly good player. He's a basic poacher who doesn't poach much. His all round game is non-existent. Couldn't get a game in the Championship at Leeds for that very reason: Bielsa needed more from his forwards than simply ghosting about hoping for tap ins. So do we.

Spending some incoming Tielemans money?

Matt under Hasenhuttl would be interesting... Watching the high press fall apart time and again because one guy is half-assing around having a breather probably isn't sustainable and ends up with a Brantfoot style falling out. I'd take Virgil and Shearer all day.
-
Absolute shite for club and country last season. Surprised he's still only 20, though - seems to have been around quite a while. There's a Red Bull link, for those that like to read too much into that. I'd take a loan to make up the numbers, but I wouldn't fancy him as a starter ahead of any of our current CBs or sixes.
-
h/t Played okay without troubling their keeper. We still look absent of much attacking plan beyond winning the ball high. Not a lot of progressive passing building up from the back. Perraud looks serviceable. Elyounoussi isn't embrarrasing himself. Tella lively. It's all... okay.
-
Ha ha ha - dream the fuck on.
-
We had some links to Marco Kana a little while ago - plays DM and CB. Still very young, though. Given our new links with feeder club Chelsea, Trevoh Chalobah ticks the boxes.
-
Not if they still have at least two internationals ahead of him in his position. Which they will, because they're Chelsea. He's not going to leave for first team football and then move back to sit in the stands again.

Broken metatarsal. 10 weeks out.
-
Even if it's true, it's an obvious bluff. Kane desperately wants the all time Premier League goalscoring record and there's a world cup in 18 months (probably his last) - there's no way on earth he's sitting out a year at 28 by going on strike. Happy to sign a long contract when it suited him; toys out the pram when he's expected to honour that contract. The modern footballer.
-
He may even become a winger, Bale style, eventually. Really talented all round footballer.
-
Injury prone, a shadow of himself since rupturing his Achilles, and the antithesis of a Hasenhuttl player - he's a stroller who doesn't work out of possession. Fulham's fans reckoned he was the worst player on the team by a mile last season. 26 in January. He's not going to live up to his potential. Not even close.
-
Broken his metatarsal - out for 10 weeks. If it wasn't for bad luck he'd have no luck at all.

We were linked to Ryan Gauld on a free a while ago. He's joined Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS. Weird career move - had interest from teams all over Europe. Ah well, I'm sure he has his reasons.
