  1. Deal to end of season works well for all involved if you ask me. He should have enough to keep us up, pretty happy, could be worse.
  2. He has been consistent, and right, all along though, to be fair....

    Marco Silva

Agree - wouldn't surprise me if we did though.
  4. No chance - He and Hughes hate each other.

    Marco Silva

Assume he is referring to my post. I have been passed on info by someone who works at the club (need to be careful as don't want to give he/she away, but they are very close to someone who would know) so it's completely possible that I / they have miss understood (although I am 100% sure on the fact an interview took place this morning). I find it unlikely they would have, but everything points to Hughes taking over, so it is possible it was him meeting with the club. The name I was given however was Silva.
  6. Fair play to both him and the club - parted the way 2 people should and class shown on both sides. By all accounts a decent bloke, just not the right fit for us at this time. All the best in the future, unless competing against us!

More than welcome to... As i said, as far as I'm aware at this stage it is just an interview (we have spoken to Hughes as well, who we liked). Personally, my money is on Hughes until the end of the season, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Silva if we see him as long term replacement.
  8. Of the all the realistic options, arguably other than Sliva, I think they are all pretty underwhelming.

    Marco Silva

In fairness, IIRC the same was said about Pelligrino...

Oh without a doubt. I'd imagine we are going through the process of speaking to a number of different candidates (we'd be stupid not to), just that Silva is one of them (which contradicts what Wilson has told us).

    Marco Silva

Right, stick my neck out here as I know ITK snippets usually get followed with a torrent of abuse.... I've just spoken to my contact (very senior, do not doubt them one bit) at the club and he has said that Marco Silva is being interview today. I don't know what time or where, but I know it's not at the ground or Staplewood. Most probably be in London, I'd have thought. I'm not saying that this means he will become our manager (i'll post outcome of meeting if I can't get it out of him - which is doubtful) as I think we have also spoken to Hughes, but it pretty much blows hat Wilson article out of the water (I think used as a smoke screen). As I've said before a number of times, we spoke to him last summer and at least 1 board member was very keen. I wouldn't be surprised if he was our new manager, personally. Not a great deal of info and believe me, take with a pinch of salt or outright ignore it, that's up to you... just don't shoot the messenger
  12. Are you okay, Nick? Looks like that old age is getting to your head. No one, literally no one has suggested that Hughes would be their first choice - as a few have pointed out we realistically have 3 options; Silva, Bilic or Hughes (for me, of those 3, Hughes would be my final choice but all 3 would do enough to keep us up). We are 17th, and in great danger of relegation - no top manager will touch us at this stage. It's not setting standards as low as Hughes (although if you would prefer Kelv, your standards are 100 times lower...), it's being realistic of who we can attract.
  13. This is possible, especially if Benfica or even Everton are still interested in Silva. We probably wouldn't want to give them the chance to catch wind and gazump us. I really don't like the sound of us wanting a proven PL manager - Stoke took that approach, lost out on potentially decent managers (because they weren't PL proven) and ended with Lambert... Look how that's ended for them. In fact, looking at all those who have gone for PL proven (West Ham, Stoke and WBA - Ignoring Everton as you know BFS will keep you up regardless) have all struggled, whereas Swansea and Leicester have had an instant bounce.
  14. Spot on, but as you've said, he would prefer Kelvin Davis which just destroys any credibility to his argument The club should have pulled the trigger 4 months ago, when we would have had the chance to replace him with someone decent.
  15. Yeah pretty much agree with this. Potter would be a very big risk though, with 8 games and lets be honest very little management experience, I'm not sure he is the right man for us just yet. Can't see Jokanovic, Rowett or Rodgers leaving their respective clubs at this stage.
  16. With 9 games left isn't a good start exactly what we need?
  17. Nope - This was down to transfer budgets. We put all our eggs into the Tuchel basket and he turned us down at a very late stage. Silva would have accepted. As many have said, which just continues to get ignored, Puel lost the dressing room - this is why he was sacked. It had absolutely nothing to do with our league position.
  18. Organisation, passion and slightly more extravagant style then MoPe. Also, he's not a yes man and will put pressure on the board. If he can replicate what he done at Blackburn, Fulham and the first 2 years of Stoke then we'll be fine. Not my first choice and not ideal by any means, but beggars can't be choosers. All i'm saying is that he will not be as bad as many make out.
  19. Just pointing out that previous failures don't always make you a bad manager and it's more being the right fit at the right club. I try and look at what they can offer us, before making a decision. Short term, Hughes would be alright, IMO.
  20. This could literally go either way. Wigan are a decent side, especially at home - but we have far superior players (so did city though, to be fair). If it's Davis and Watson in charge I suspect a loss, if it's a new manager then who knows.
  21. Poch was sacked with Espanyol when they were bottom of La Liga.
  22. Why? he has literally done nothing as a coach and did not deserve his promotion to the first team. There are so many better coaches in the club who didn't get a sniff because of their name and FWIW, they know what and are pretty p!ssed off about it..
  23. Surprised to hear that we aren't interested in Silva at this stage, I know a few board members were keen on him in the summer, but opted for Tuchel. Personally, of those realistically available, I would go for Silva. Hughes and Bilic are much of a muchness for me and would be be good enough to keep us up - of the 2 I'd go for Bilic. Not sure any of those currently available are long term appointments though. I think we will end up with Hughes, which wouldn't be as disastrous as most are making out (he actually done pretty well at Stoke). Hughes would be a solid enough manager in the championship should we drop, as well. Rodgers would be my first choice (he'd be the perfect fit for us), but I can't see us getting him until the summer if at all.
  24. As Pardew has found out.
  25. This is a possibility, but still doesn’t explain why we haven’t got anyone (literally anyone) in on a deal for the last 8 games? We can’t be short of money? The board must be sensible enough to think throw some money at a good manager now (even if it’s only for 6 months) and we’ll comfortably make that back if we stay in the PL. All just doesn’t make sense. It’s either their ego, there inability to find someone better (I think I’d do a better job atm though) or they think he’s the right man... all points to mismanagement by the board.
