True we overpaid for Onuachu, especially given his age although his transfer fee is so much lower now partially because we can't shift him on his wages. Apparently he's handed in a tranfer request and will only consider Trabzonspor. I guess that drops the transfer fee even lower as he's likely forfieted recieving the remainder of his signing on fee to help push the move through.

Yeah, granted it was a winter signing, but if we rated Sulemana at £22m then £25m for O'Riley is probably not unreasonable. I'd hope we could structure that deal to be slightly more favourable though.

Romeo Lavia £14m, Gavin Bazunu £12m, Shea Charles £12m, Ross Stewart £8m were all big risks. Bigger risks than Matt O'Rily at £20m would be in my opinion. Stuart Armstrong had 1 year left on his contract when we signed him for £7m. Matt O'Riley still has 3 years on his contract. I think we'd be spending at least £14m on a 26 year old Stuart Armstrong in todays market if he had 3 years left on his Celtic deal. Matt O'Riley is still only 23 years old so the fee doesn't seem outlandish to me.

Dibling impressed me especially today and Sugawara looks capable of filling the potenital KWP void. Defending was poor, mostly self inflicted with unnecessary passing inside our own box. They scored 3 past Brighton U23's. They could have easily matched that or worse against us. I think it's clear we need a GK and CF. Charles isn't adequate backup for Downes either.

Those comments on that article 😂 Even after Van Dijk, Armstrong, Forster, Wanyama... they still haven't learnt that any Premier League club will be a more attractive proposition than any SPFL club. None of the major clubs will take the gamble until they see the player competing in a prestigious league.

Our rivals seem to be operating in a different stratosphere to us eclipsing our record transfer already this window. We'll have to be very shrewd if we're going to build a competitive squad this summer but realistically, it will be very hard when we're working with one hand tied behind our back. Everton have just pocketed £50m from Villa from the Onana deal as well. These deals are inflating the market well beyond our means.
