  1. He won't be on £100k a week when we go down. If we're run properly, every player should have a wage reduction clause for this scenario. Probably around 25%. He'll have suitors for £75k a week and may be willing to take a little less if it means he can stay in the Prem and have a crack at the free-kick record.
  2. Looks decent. Just a shame it will be too little too late.
  3. He may be having a poor season but his CV will still be attractive to other clubs. 11 years in the Premier League making what will likely be over 340 top flight appearances by the end of this season. Captain for 2 years (not necessarily a good one but they won't know that) 11 caps for England 2nd most free-kick goals in Premier League history. Versatility (can fill in at full-back in a crunch) A player like that at a cut-price deal would be an excellent signing for a promoted team and he would likely have suitors from midtable clubs as well.
  4. People don't want to hear it but the solution now is to rebuild in the Championship and hope to live to see the day we're a Premier League club again.
  5. Not sure how it kicked off but that would be my guess. Something like this happening was inevitable.
  6. Highlight was the fistfight in the Chapel stand during the first half.
  7. All together now! We hate Nottingham Forest, We hate Liverpool too. We hate West Ham United, But Southampton we love you!
  8. Another Championship striker, Middlesbrough's Chuba Akpom, on our radar according to tenuous source, Daily Mail. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11591999/Middlesbrough-forward-Chuba-Akpom-monitored-Crystal-Palace-Everton-Southampton.html
  9. I suppose it shows which fanbases are getting the least enjoyment.
  10. The board are primarily responsible for the mess we're in. Their failure to bring in a goalscorer, adequate midfield cover or an experienced goalkeeper are factors, as is their failure to replace Ralph before we inevitably tumbled into the relegation places. Saints were in relegation form for the last 10 months of his tenure. The nightmare didn't start a month ago. Ralph cannot be absolved of blame for the position we're in. His baffling selections, terrible game management and 'too late to be effective' substitutions cost us points on many an occasion. Our terrible form and subsequent plummet second half of last season was unacceptable. This was with a team flying high in the first half of the season with the same squad of players and it wasn't the first time our form had fallen off a cliff in the second half of a campaign. Whatever changed, and it wasn't the personel, he couldn't fix. If it was a burnout issue, he had three years to adapt our game. That was on Ralph. If it was a motivation issue, that was on Ralph. Tactical naivety? Ralph. He broke all the wrong records during his time here and in my view, the club were too generous giving him the start of this season to try to turn our poor form around. He should have gone last May.

  12. Yeah, could have been a turning point for us but I fear that will be a defining moment for all the wrong reasons. Morale couldn't be more rock bottom.
  13. I can't see any way out of this situation for us. We're just so poor. Can't be a threat in open play. Can't defend. It's so disheartening.
  14. That's pretty devastating.
  15. Adams has been pretty anonymous.
  16. Referee can't make that assumption.
  17. Never seen a referee order an injured player to make their own way off the pitch before. Wouldn't do that to a more experienced player.
  18. Bazunu needs dropping.
  19. ffs i missed the goal 😂
  20. Simply not good enough. We're a nothing team. We offer nothing.
  21. You just knew Bazunu was going to drop that.
  22. This team can't shoot.
  23. We might see Lavia after the inevitable formation change when it's clear this shape isn't working again.
  24. He's become a key player for the team leading the Championship averaging a goal every two games (176 minutes). If the option is there, we'd be stupid not to recall him given the dross we have here.
