  1. Didn't think there was much wrong with the reffing today, he started a bit Scouse but we'd already had a couple of free-kicks by the time the away fans started "we got a free-kick" and the ironic cheering and there were a few where we got away with things - as well as wrong decisions both ways. Second yellow was maybe a bit harsh but hardly matters. Draw was a fair result, wouldn't like to pick a MoM from anyone involved, no-one was outstanding.
  2. "Dejan Lovren ‏@DejanLovren05 18m Thank you Nicola Cortese for everything . #respect"
  3. Yeah, Christ, get over it - it's not like I'm still claiming Billy Sharp will outscore Lambert this season... ...wait a minute.
  4. After playing with no smooth cartilage on the back of my knee for 13 years, my physio discovered I didn't use some of my thigh muscles when walking, so that I didn't get pain through the middle of my knee. Had to exercise them for weeks to build them back up and recondition my brain to accept the pain threshold and rebuild the muscle around it. I also had numerous hamstring injuries after my knee problem which I didn't get at all before it. It's perfectly possible the reconfiguration of his muscles and actually playing after so long is putting different stresses on his feet - or it could even just be related to normal body changes with age.
  5. The only facts here are that Adkins got us promoted twice in a row. If you don't think that's sufficient grounds for him to be regarded as a success, I'm glad I don't work for you.
  6. Anyone else with the backing of the Liebherrs could have done much of the same thing. As for "ask some teams who have and haven't had money how easy it is", well you've just listed lots of badly mismanaged teams, all without money. There are plenty of well managed teams without money too, the money makes it a lot easier, especially in lower divisions.
  7. That full list of people who did not want Cortese to stay on 14/5/2013, about 8 months before he went (the 5.7% "NO" vote): 110_Persaint, Brother Smith, conaero, croydonsaint, Dan, dazzlesfc, FMPR, gary50, Guided Missile, Hagiology, hypochondriac, IFHP, Isla Wight, jjsaint, JRM, Kingsland Nick, La BoIS Saint, London Saint, mack rill, Massimo Osti, Merovingian, Mr X, patred44, Saint Billy, scorchio21, Seaford Saint, Sergei Gotsmanov, sir woody, solentstars, St Lej, St.JonB, The9, Third Division South, Tomobz, Treesaint, yorkie 2 of them (Merovingian and mack rill) are known Skates, for the record - at least I was consistent.
  8. Classic ART bullshart comment at the start there about bringing Lowe back. Also good to see the Luke Shaw PR machine spewing basically the same guff as when he somehow tweeted with a broken leg. Shocked to discover also the only thing Griffo has ever posted on SaintsWeb that I agree with (and I'm not sure he wasn't being sarcastic): "Get a grip some of you. He wasn't the one with the money and he had little say on the on-field matters. Unless Pochettino goes (which wouldn't be all that much of a disaster) and all our best players leave then this is pretty irrelevant. Hopefully Le Tiss/Benali can be welcome at the club again and we can get our stripes back next season." All those things actually happened. I see the use of the word "gutted" by 3 people, one of whom said he was "the best thing to happen to the club in 30 years", SaintRichmond bleating on about Katharina having one thing on her mind, to sell; someone saying "maybe he's left to go to Milan" (and it wasn't Turkish, so they were genuine), Saint Charlie suggesting we'd sell Shaw for £15m, claims of Cortese buying the club, MLG linking to a video of the word "bugger", egg saying "she might have wanted to install a... man to help... buy more shrewdly", Alpine saying "f'ck the stripes", and then a post showing "apparently Katharina", as none of us actually knew what she looked like back then. "We are screwed", "can't see how this is good news in any way at all", "Oh sh't", "reports that she refused to sell to a buyer Cortese arranged", "no point in having a silver lining if the cloud is about to unleash a gargantuan flood". "Can't help but feel we'll never be in such a positive position again". "If Luke leaves then clubs could be over us for our star players". "Would hope Lallana stays regardless"... And the weirdly prescient: "If I were Man Utd I'd be putting in a bid for Lovren, Clyne, Shaw, Schneiderlin, Wanyama and Lallana! £120m, rebuilding done!" As well as the hilariously wrong: "The whole thing smacks of either... (a) Cortese has a role lined up e.g. at AC Milan, or (b) KL wants to sell Luke Shaw and Cortese wanted to keep him here or he would leave. Or both. So perhaps we shall see the departure of Luke Shaw and possibly others such as Lallana and Schneiderlin before the end of the January window." Nothing about crying in the first two-hundred and twenty posts though.
  9. I can help here - my forum language about football is verbose, and my twitter language about football is practically non-existent.
  10. Could be that with Gallagher not featuring for MK they wanted to guarantee he'd get games - with Barnsley in the L1 bottom 4 I think there's every chance he'll play every game.
  11. With the added injury news that Long maybe coming back in time for Bournemouth and possibly even Villa, it might be him instead of Rodriguez getting a run out...
  12. He wasn't injured 2 days ago: http://www.mkdons.com/news/article/injury-update-with-simon-crampton-mk-dons-darren-potter-cody-cropper-dean-bowditch-mark-randall-matt-upson-dale-jennings-joe-walsh-2759225.aspx They do have Nicky Maynard and Simon Church in their team, is Gallagher meant to be better than them?
  13. Except Cardiff - and only then if you ignore the weird "no shots on target" stats.
  14. No sparing use in the first season, we were absolutely swarming all the time from that Wigan game onwards - it was Pochettino's first full season when it was toned down, mainly because we were getting sucker punched on the counter by anyone with a big, fast striker (eg Lukaku).

    Lallana

He'll probably get the Lovren Treatment until being subbed on the hour again, if he starts.
  16. Not sure Sheff U are big spenders, since the start of last season they've signed 10 free transfers, 7 undisclosed signings of players I wouldn't think were expensive at L1 level (except maybe Billy Sharp), and John Brayford for a hefty £2m from Cardiff. They only signed two players for any kind of fee this summer, and only 3 in total. That doesn't smack of "big spending" to me.
  17. Sadlers and the Rockstone are run by the same people judging by the name of the company on my bank statement - but The Rockstone was MILES better, I went to Sadlers' launch night and the food platter was a huge disappointment. Mexigo is decent too, though I haven't been for a couple of years. There are a load of pub/restaurant chains Above Bar and up to the Guildhall if "not Spoons but some other chain pub" are what you want. Spitfire is an away pub and was our regular stop until a couple of weeks ago when they stopped showing BT Sport.

    Injury Watch

Strange then that the physio I did, which led to my knee injury no longer causing my leg to give way, was running and strengthening muscles around the knee. Anyone would think that exercising was better for them than not. Plus numerous people have come back from injuries stronger due to specifically strengthening the area of weakness. As for Danny Ings' injury, I don't recall us having any details of how he did it, which makes any kind of analysis of how and why it happened pretty difficult.
  19. Cat A prices based on geographic proximity alone, I'd actually laugh if it didn't.
  20. In the sense that I've proved "not all" of us feel like that, you'll have to, but everyone's entitled to their opinion!
  21. 2.3 attempted tackles per game from Davis so far. Lee Cattermole attempts 3.2... Wanyama 2.9. (Jack Cork makes 2.6). He's 151/374 for attempted tackles, and 141/352 in completed. Pretty much "above average" across all Prem teams, bearing in mind we're also 12th/20 in possession.
  22. Very simple indeed, and absolutely right.
  23. Well, you say that but Pochettino had us at it within 2 weeks of arriving. Pochettino was unveiled on Friday 18th January, we played Everton on Mon 21st, it was used sparingly to scare the crap out of Man U on the Wed 30th and we were switching it on and off in the away game to Wigan on Sat 2nd Feb. Hopefully Liverpool's match preparation is interfering with the ability to coach the new system quickly enough - and even so, they haven't been creating goalscoring opportunities as a result - so far.
  24. I'm not sure that meets the description.
  25. As mentioned on the Liverpool thread, it'll be interesting to see how Koeman deals with the different priorities and demands of Liverpool, Villa and then Bournemouth on the following Sunday. We're going for it in the cups, so I'm expecting: --------Stekelenburg Cedric, Fonte, Van Dijk, Bertrand -------Wanyama Clasie Ward-Prowse Davis Rodriguez ---------------Pelle Assuming we start with Romeu instead of Clasie, Tadic for Rodriguez and Mane for Ward-Prowse at Anfield. Depending on performance, result, recovery rates and injuries we can then decide if we want to try Wanyama-Clasie again against Bournemouth, when I could possibly see Rodriguez getting another start (though no reason to rotate Tadic/Mane/Davis at the moment against Bournemouth with a 6 day recovery before the Sunderland game - also, if Rodriguez was going to start against Bournemouth, one of Mane or Tadic wouldn't be rested against Villa - so maybe Rodriguez only plays against Bournemouth - I expect he's going to start at least one of them though).
