When did this happen? Have I missed something? http://www.stubhub.co.uk/southampton-fc-tickets/

You will note this document from 2002 also refers to the Chapel by its original name: http://www.southampton-mad.co.uk/sngl/ed23/all_about_saints_new_home_21524/index.shtml

You seem to have mistaken them for the successful club managed by Alex Ferguson. Also, they beat Swansea 4-1 first game of the season, that's not long ago and surely fulfils that criteria?
-
And I thought getting posterity confused with prosperity was purely a Skate problem.

Nowt. From a development perspective, how much did we get for Gobern from Huddersfield? As he was a borderline League One player in a side that got promoted, I reckon about 2/3rds of that for a regular in a mid-table League 2 side who plays in more or less the same position.
-
By that logic so is club football, so what difference does it make?

I found out about the Belgium result about an hour after. Our relative welshness is clear (I'm from Newport).
-
Well it's a nice stat, but essentially it's as much about us being gash last season as good this. Losing to QPR, Sunderland and West Ham* at home last season gave us great scope for improvement. *according to the table...

I went to the Northampton, Huddersfield (A) and Swindon (A) games, and the first time I saw a songsheet (in the Northam) or heard the song was the next home match at Brentford. The only singing I remember from Swindon was singing for Pardew to make subs. Presumably the songs were on the terrace not in the seats?

Yeah but were you there for his first competitive goal for Saints? Under 11,000 were.

The Polish link above contains this if translated : Just yesterday we had hoped that the hamstring injury will not be a problem and Arthur will be able to occur. Discussion lasted a long time - he said on the air Polsat Sport Jaroszewski. When asked who it was the decision - or more physicians, or the Boruc - the doctor said - That's why discussions lasted so long because Arthur really wanted to play. Jaroszewski explained that the injury has renewed the Borucowi in the match against Ukraine. - Two days ago, he did research and found out that it is a trauma, which - as once again to renew - that Arthur may have a big problem - he said. physician staff could not say whether Boruc will be able to play in the next league match. - Today, all this does not look good, but I can not rule out his performance in the league - ended Jaroszewski. Theoretically Szczesny substitute against England will be Lukasz Fabianski . But Boruc also sit on the bench.
-
Fabianski is also on the bench.

"Artur Boruc, who is injured...". Cue Saints fan panic...

Uruguay failing to qualify would be quite helpful in that, the guy hasn't had a summer off for at least 2½ years - but at the same time, players who play in World Cups are always shifted on for more than they're worth. As Uruguay have a fairly small pool of internationals, Gaston's not under any threat of not being in the squad if they make it, so him being sub for Saints won't matter. Seems unlikely we'd sell him in January when he could be worth a pile more if we hang onto him until July. So the sensible thing to do whether Uruguay make it or not is to keep him - either he gets a full summer and we can see if he's improved next season, or he has a World Cup and may increase his value. If he goes, plays and is cack, that's the only situation we lose - but even then we still have a potentially decent player with more experience than he has at the moment and a World Cup squad to his name. Personally I think I'd prefer Uruguay missing out to give the guy a break, then at least we can see what we've got with a full pre-season.
-
To be fair, coming on as sub and trying to get up to the speed of the game is a very good way of keeping pass percentage lower than usual, looking at last season's pass percentage when he was starting would be a more reliable indicator.
-
Or more accurately, he was being pulled back which is why he threw his arm out to fend the opponent off.
-
He was giving the ball away sloppily in yards of space against Bristol City. Also, his sending off followed two matches in which he was substituted before the 64th minute (wins at Reading and home to Liverpool when he got the hook after 55 minutes). Before that he'd played 70 minutes at Norwich in a match where we were lucky to get a point, and was replaced by Guly. So saying "he was hitting his stride" is pushing it a bit. Wanyama gives the ball away unchallenged probably more often than when he's under pressure, it's concentration. Osvaldo, yeah, he's got twice as many opponents around him and the benefits of a risky pass around the opposition area far outweigh the problems caused.

I'm disappointed in you lot, that thread is miles funnier than this one. I accept I haven't helped.

So, anyway, how about Lotus?

I think you have misunderstood my use of "nutjob", that's the term given to the Pompey Takeover Thread by the inmates. The only other things I have taken from non "Main Bored" threads are Bearsy and Tokyos' tendencies, the conspiracy stuff in the 9/11 thread due to its jaw-dropping content, that MLG loves a FM thread, and that Apple/Android and Xbox/Playstation are debates that have no end. So yeah, in 6 years all I know is that you have some non-mainstream opinions on certain disasters.

Bizarrely given that I'm only arguably borderline English at best, I'd actually go for the International result on this specific occasion. Saints can launch a top 10 offensive without needing a result on Saturday, whilst England not winning tomorrow will make next summer's World Cup about 400% (estimate) less interesting for people like me who will watch as much of it as physically possible anyway - everyone else around giving a monkey's and all the pub gatherings around England games makes the whole thing so much more entertaining. Euro 2008 was utter gash compared to 2006, 2010, 2012. Though it is worth noting that the English media has completely overlooked the existence of play-offs for the majority of second placed teams and that would most likely lead to qualification anyway... hmmm...
-
It is. And I'm barely in The Lounge or Muppet Show outside the nutjob thread.

I'm surprised to see a known conspiracy theorist advocating increased government intervention in private life.
