All this "stable" stuff was posted around 12:50 today - post #170 for a start... good news though it is, we knew it over 2 hours ago. At least the Sibley update is something new, and may even lead to some new information.

If there's one thing people suggesting severe punishments are always supportive of, it's the implementation of consistent sentencing across the board. So I would guess that his response to this would be "yes". EDIT : See above, as the "yes" came in as I was typing about it !

I hardly think chucking up some temporary rope barriers to control the queue would be expensive or limited by the structure of the concourse either...

He was a useful stopgap for us at a time when we were struggling for experience to get us out of a hole, and were short of centre backs 3 years ago, when he was approaching being past it in terms of footballing years. 3 years later, we have a much better situation, regularly sign players in their mid-20s to get them at their peak to supplement the experience we already have, and the player in question will have waned and has just been deemed surplus to requirements at a club short of players which is well below us in the league. People think this is a feasible option ?
-
Always has been, usually from people who are unable to debate a subject objectively. The other problems are the continual pigeon-holing of people - along with a similar refusal to discuss their points, and the idea that building a coherent response over a number of points is to be dismissed because too much effort went into it. Strangely enough these all seem to be the actions of people with simplistic responses to every issue.

Ohhhh just stop it... have we not worked out that even if you come up with another 50 he's only going to name another 10 decent players and then you'll have to find 100 ?

Terribly sorry that my contribution to a general discussion on the merits of athletes socialising after this horrible incident doesn't meet with your approval and prompts your "respectful" abuse.
-
Just for the record, I've Googled effects of alcohol on athletes, and even the worst case scenario indicates that rehydration will naturally occur within a week - the argument then becomes about whether the effects on athletic training in the 48 hours after the alcohol is consumed affect the performance due to not being able to train to the max. Frankly at that point there are so many variables about training methods and recovery that it's likely to be impossible to prove cause and effect. So, 9 days before a match may directly affect training for 48 hours, and indirectly affect peak performance after that, but it's difficult to prove. This article notes the 1 week rehydration http://www.nutritioncheckup.com/docs/Alcohol%20and%20Athletic%20Performance.pdf That, of course, is assuming alcohol is involved at all.

A definite improvement on "serious and stable" and "potentially life threatening" earlier, but a long way to go until he's in the clear.
-
I'm sure it's quite difficult to stay away from people who want to come up to you and have a go whether you want them to or not, especially if you're remotely famous.
-
It would be interesting to see how many of the comments from previous threads have been proven true or otherwise... my favourite comments are usually from chavs connected to people involved who always post about how the people making comments don't know those involved, like you can't make a judgement based on their actions alone.
-
It is, he's in some of the other pictures of the session too, I noted earlier that he and Bart have last year's squad numbers (23 and 24) on their cut-off tracksuit trousers.
-
True or otherwise, whilst it's not too soon to discuss general scenarios about players socialising, I do think it's a bit too early to be apportioning blame via unverified sources.
-
Danny Butterfield. Also has had quite the haircut.
-
It's also the source of one of the rifts between the paper and Cortese, who is believed to be behind a very strongly worded solicitor's letter received by the Echo following a phone call to the MALI offices to get comments from their staff in the immediate aftermath of Markus' death. Anyway, that's for another time and place.
-
Of course we want him to be alright, and it is an isolated incident, but I don't see why there should be an embargo on discussing the general causes and principles, even without the specifics of this... "case". It's been 3 hours since I heard and the shock has given way to trying to reason how this could happen.
-
Can't argue with that as a sentiment, but unfortunately life's not like that. People who are potential targets (for whatever reason) need to take precautions against contact with the kind of people who make trouble for them. That may include not putting themselves in any of these kind of situations. It's a shame, but unfortunately that's the reality. I'm not suggesting this is in any way Dan Seaborne's fault of course.
-
Someone forgot Taibi...
-
It can, which is why there's the opinion that the only way to stay out of trouble is not to go anywhere.
-
I'm actually surprised how many players QPR got in AFTER signing Barton, personally I'd go out of my way not to have the likes of him as a team-mate. They must be offering some serious wages.
-
Given that the young men in question are at the top of their highly-paid profession, I think it's more a matter of if they DO go out (and sport often involves a great degree of personal sacrifice) them ensuring that where they do go is not the sort of place this kind of thing is likely to happen.
-
Only based on the early speculation from the Echo article before it was revealed that it was Seaborne who had sustained the injuries and rewritten at least once, as far as I can tell.
-
As I mentioned, De Ridder's Facebook has a link to the Echo info. I can't read whatever language it's posted in (guessing it's Flemish) but it appears to be something about best wishes to his family. "in gedachte bij Dan en zijn familie :(" actually : https://www.facebook.com/pages/Steve-De-Ridder/269235015466 Just ran in through translator, it basically means "in mind of" i.e. "thinking of..."

Chamberlain was given 11 for this season and wore it pre-season. 26 was vacant and under Adkins' anal numbering scheme was always going to go to a centre-back.
