  1. IIRC Southampton on the stationary map and Portsmouth on the moving one - or the other way around - on the Beeb anyway.
  2. I doubt it, it was cut like that loads back in 2001/2 and we didn't wear that kit then either... also no-one is suggesting we wear concentric circles, which was also a favourite pitch style at one point !
  3. Oh dear, you appear to have been so very wrong. What a terrible shame. Incredibly enough it seems to have come when Saints have met most of everyone else's expectations. After 7 years of them meeting only the worst expectations, it finally puts the non-whingers in the ascension. I like it like that, and so does everyone else. Your thread about us not signing enough players is overdue, by the way, season finished 2 days ago.
  4. Just so you can all have a laugh at the Newcastle shirt mentioned above... There's also a limited edition with a gold badge, though given how ugly the regular kit is it's probably going to be pretty limited itself...
  5. I don't actually remember that being a vote, but I agree it was a good kit.
  6. Whenever that's happened the original designs have ALL been gash and we've ended up with the "least crap".
  7. The collar is different as the button on the collar is a bog standard round one not the oddly-shaped Umbro Tailored ones, which is a small nod to the fact that the Huddersfield kit is based on an Umbro Teamwear template (the "Santos") and their kit is basically a different colour variation of a parks team kit (with a collar), because their "Umbro deal" is actually with a local sports kit provider. It's just the reversed version of this, in fact. . You'll also notice that Saints' sash kit has sleeves which end at the shoulder - this Huddersfield shirt has a form of "raglan" sleeves, in that the sleeve piece goes right up to the shoulder, rather than having the "T" stitching over the shoulder blade and around the armpit like the sash shirt. They also won't have the kind of detailing like the Saints shirt has with the little triangle pieces at the bottom seam on the sides, etc. As such, it's NOTHING like the Saints sash shirt, the pieces of material are completely different shapes. Pretty sure that generic Huddersfield shirt won't be anything like the Saints kit (other than stripey), we've got a proper Umbro kit deal - not to mention that on this thread we've got the OP mentioning the New York Cosmos style shirts.
  8. Which one?
  9. Firstly, I started this thread so I'm aware of what it's about, secondly, actually it's about both good and crap memories and thirdly, I actually quite like my wife...
  10. Weren't they playing Walsall ? Hudds 2-0 up, then 3-2 down, won 4-3 with a goal 6/7 mins into injury time ? I was on the terrace and was watching live text update on my phone, it was sodding ridiculous. Though not as ridiculous as some nobber deliberately starting a "Walsall are 4-2 up" rumour on 90 mins.
  11. Only XL in home shirts and some kids' sizes left apparently, so you definitely won't get anything from the club. Still full price for the home shirts too.
  12. It's a table from 2012/13 - we've already been promoted to the Prem though. Shows Brighton bouncing back after their relegation next season, when Poyet rejoins after getting sacked by Blackburn after 6 weeks in the Prem. Don't ask me how Ancelotti's still at Chelsea though !
  13. I should probably give a mention to those Walsall and Huddersfield 5 goalers myself... I'd bought an engagement ring and was kidding the girlfriend that if we scored 10 against Walsall I'd ask her to marry me. When we stopped scoring at 5 I told her I'd extend it to include the Huddersfield game as well - after that demolition she was delighted, and then it was a matter of time before I found the right time to propose (which I did as part of a Tranmere Away weekender, what a romantic - though Saints arsed it up of course. ). Anyway, she said yes, and when we got married she got a Saints sash shirt as her wedding present from me with her married name on the back. If we'd still been in the Prem I can safely say the chances of scoring 5 back to back might have been slightly less.
  14. I don't think they're very surprising, pretty much everyone knows Pearson's WDL record wasn't great, but it was a damn sight better than his predecessor. More relevant stats (that would probably support the majority view) of Pearson as some kind of miracle worker would compare win percentages from (say) the previous 12 months and the previous 6 matches to see how much of a turnaround was achieved compared to the overall trend. I don't think there's much doubt that Adkins took over a hugely better situation than Pearson, and if you want to deal in overly-simplistic stats, how about "Pearson led us to 20th in the Championship (40th overall in the League), Adkins has never taken Saints higher than 2nd in League One (46th)" ?
  15. We didn't want to be here, we did well to get out of it as soon as we have, but football being football, there must have been a ton of stuff in the last two seasons that you look back upon fondly or with a shake of the head... ...what have been your memories of the third tier ? For me, it's been mostly the opportunity to revist some teams I first saw playing against Newport County when I was a kid - if nothing else it kept me with a sense of perspective on the supposed crap-holes we were visiting, compared to the legitimately horrendous dumps in the Third Division in the 1980s. But most of all, I've liked Saints expecting to be winning matches and being a big fish in a small pond. Long may it continue - with bigger ponds !
  16. They're a bit late aren't they ? You'd have had to be in Plymouth for that one.
  17. They are figures without context.
  18. 4 people have outed themselves, two pairs, so far...
  19. You shouldn't be allowed near statistics.
  20. I reckon this is worth a poll. We should AIM to win every match, but personally I'd be happy if we made the playoffs next season (without ruling out the possibility of going up again). I'd actually be a bit scared if we went up again, assuming we hadn't signed a team of Prem players by then.
  21. In an attempt to work out the financial thinking, are you able to answer a couple of questions so we can have a look at the maths of this for your (admittedly small) "sample" ? How much would 6 STs have cost, and how many home matches at full price (plus booking fee) did those 6 people then attend instead this season (including Walsall tomorrow)?
  22. That's about the weakest reason I've seen given so far... cashflow is cashflow whether it goes into 2010 or 2011, who cares how it's presented in the accounts (at least until the FL, Prem and UEFA start penalising teams for it) ?
  23. I'm not sure the location is to blame for that...
  24. Pretty much everyone on here appreciates the great job Pearson did at Saints (with one obvious, tedious exception), and since he's left he's done very well with Leicester, getting a promotion from L1 and losing a play-off semi on penalties (better than they did this season under Sven), and reasonably well this season with a skint Hull who could have been in serious trouble and who are just above Leicester in the top half, 7 points off the last play-off place at the moment. In the interests of continuity, and Saints actually going two seasons in a row with the same manager for the first time since Burley (which worked well in his second season), and because he's got us promoted* of course, I'd stick with Adkins, though Pearson would be on any shortlist for Saints manager I'd have in the next few years.
  25. Just to prove you can prove anything with statistics : There are 20 teams in the Prem, of which 3 are relegated, so there's a 15% chance of NOT staying in the Prem. There are 24 teams in the nPC, 3 promoted and 3 relegated, so there's a 25% chance of NOT staying in the Championship. Therefore it is 10% easier to stay in the Prem than the Championship. Of course this assumes parity for all clubs at the start of the season in terms of playing staff and financial clout / ability to sign better players, and is therefore tangibly b011ocks.
