I didn't even think we were arrogant yesterday, except the "we do what we want" chant. The "going down" stuff just made us look like a bunch of idiots who didn't know the difference between celebrating our success and gloating at their failure... as others have said, "short memories". And the ONLY reason there was "very little bad behaviour" was all the thugs who usually try their best to drag our name through the mud suddenly realised that they didn't want to start a fight with the 3 lines of police and dogs standing in front of them when it was "on the pitch" time, and instead managed to only aggravate all the celebrating fans around them with their selfish cramming up of the aisles and front areas (I'm particularly thinking of blocking the views of the wheelchair fans at the front). Can't fault the policing there, and nor am I sure how they're supposed to identify a random rock-chucker in a park. If you think I'm going to condone Plymouth fans laying into people in the "wrong end" you're wrong, and I wouldn't be impressed with Saints fans doing the same if the roles were reversed, either.

For some reason that's more appealing to me than "price drop but you still can't afford to pay it in one go without getting a loan out".
-
The only reason is that more than 3 of the other 23 clubs in the division might be better than us. At the moment my goal for Saints next season is to win the playoffs, but who knows whether we've got some signings lined up, or the money to attract them ? One thing I do know is that the current Norwich squad look relegation threatened next season, but that they're still going to be better off than the Play-Off winners.

We don't have "a lack of songs", we've got about 60 of them. I post this every time someone goes on about singing about Pompey "all the time" because I was recording the crowd noise for use in FIFA11 back in October - the Dirty Skate Bastards (only) feature in about 20% of our songs.
-
Seeing as the link to the previous ST page is currently not connecting to anywhere, I'd say that was a safe bet. You can also guarantee the prices will be going up, which is presumably the only reason they haven't put them up yet, because of the comparison against the "if we weren't getting promoted" prices. That's not necessarily a bad thing, I just think it would be nice to know. Wilde and co may have overspent and contributed to bringing the club to its knees, but at least they had the nous to show their customers how much it was going to cost in the league we were in OR the league above long before the season had finished.

It wasn't evident in the middle of the top tier - though the 90th minute WRONG celebrations very much were...

It's a "laugh" that makes certain sections of our fanbase look like the spiteful, childish, bitter neanderthal idiots that they are. I was happy enough with getting promoted* that I didn't feel the need to gloat at Plymouth about getting relegated, or being skint, I didn't want to sing utterly cringeworthy songs about our chairman, who I think has made a few dubious decisions, and I was amused at Connolly conducting the fans to sing what he wanted. And as for that pathetic rendition of "we do what we want", yeah, well done, now you look like 3rd rate Man Utd wannabes - ultra lower league and basically the empty song of an ignored kid that's desperate for any kind of attention - which pretty much sums up most of the mongs singing it. I also didn't want to run on the pitch for no apparent reason other than "you're not supposed to", and I was absolutely delighted that the policing allowed those of us who just wanted to enjoy it and see the players' celebrations the time to do that, without a bunch of mongtards swarming the pitch and forcing the players down the tunnel. We were hanging around in the car park celebrating for ages afterwards too, the policing wouldn't have allowed for that if it had all kicked off. Still, despite all that, and spending the last 25 minutes getting shoved up and down the seats thanks to some particularly thick-looking people desperate to stand in the aisles having all piled to the front (again for no particular reason other than not knowing how to behave), I had a bloody great time singing my guts out and generally celebrating the arse out of the day.
-
Can't say I heard that one, was it a bottom tier thing ?
-
Absolutely spot on with all of them. Though even Connolly treated "back from the dead" as a bit of a laugh.
-
No it wasn't, for the 9 zillionth time. It was initially rearranged from 3pm to avoid kicking off at the same time as the Wales v England internationals to 12:45pm, then postponed due to Plymouth's call ups. It was NEVER scheduled to be on tv. And there was never a Sky curse, we won plenty of tv matches last season and in the CCC play-off season.
-
LOLz at you thinking the players don't know we will almost certainly get promoted if we win and having to read about it on here.

I've never sat in the Chapel "proper", only the Chapel/Itchen corner. Other than that since 2002 I've been in the Itchen South (once, when on crutches), Itchen North (once for the England U-21s v Ireland), the Northam where my ST is, the Northam/Kingsland corner back when I didn't have an ST and couldn't always get in the Northam in the Prem, and the South end of the Kingsland once (and never again). Oh, and I sat on the (away) bench for the second half of the first Forum game .

I have no idea what drugs you are on, and have made my last contribution to this particular pile o' poo.

Ok, well ignoring the generally spurious argument, if we were selling out 32,689 (without segregation) every week, which we're not, this lot are bigger : (Average Att, Games [it's a little out of date] Change and Highest Attendance.) 1 Manchester United 75.008 14 0,2% 75.326 2 Arsenal 60.011 14 0,1% 60.112 3 Newcastle United 47.033 14 8,4% 51.988 4 Manchester City FC 46.178 14 1,5% 47.679 5 Liverpool FC 42.108 14 -1,8% 44.795 6 Chelsea FC 41.452 13 0,1% 41.829 7 Sunderland AFC 39.351 14 -2,5% 47.864 8 Aston Villa FC 36.880 14 -4,4% 40.688 9 Everton 35.999 13 -2,0% 39.673 10 Tottenham Hotspur 35.820 13 0,1% 36.197 11 West Ham United 33.392 14 -0,9% 34.941 However, this list ignores the teams in the Championship who are getting upwards of 23,500 and would certainly also get more than 32,000 in the Prem as well, which could arguably stretch to include this lot : No. Club Average Games vs '10 Highest 1 Leeds United FC 26.936 17 8,5% 33.622 2 Derby County FC 26.071 17 -10,7% 33.010 3 Norwich City 25.226 17 2,2% 26.532 4 Leicester City FC 23.624 17 -1,3% 30.919 5 Cardiff City FC 23.032 17 11,2% 26.049 6 Nottingham Forest 22.981 17 -3,6% 29.490 7 Hull City AFC 21.183 17 -13,1% 24.110 8 Sheffield United FC 20.585 17 -18,1% 22.936 9 Ipswich Town FC 19.306 16 -7,4% 23.345 10 Reading FC 17.124 17 -1,6% 23.677 11 Middlesbrough FC 16.352 17 -18,0% 23.550

Get off the fence. ...Oh !
-
Attendances then ? There are 25 teams with higher average attendances this season.
-
No, I'm right and we had the 3rd highest attendances in League One last season. You've just decided I meant this season, which I didn't.
-
What's your criteria ? We're 14th in all-time Premier League points but only 25th in all-time Prem/FL points. We're 23rd in average all-time Prem points. But only third highest average attendance in League One last season. There are about 7 teams in the nPC with higher average attendances this season, and all but two of the Premier League.

Saints ST holding sometime-born Newport County fan protesting at the mention of that 13-0 here (in 1945/6)... bloody Newcastle, though at least it's a jointly held record. The probability means that 3 points is enough.
-
I hope it's just you, FFS, I'm going to Plymouth and don't think I could wait another 4 days or want the tension against Walsall...
-
You've changed your attitude !
-
By definition, doesn't that make you even worse than a glory hunter ?
-
Can't say I could tell anything about what anyone was doing at Brighton from our angle !
-
I thought Gobern was growing into the role, he was more effective today than at Brighton, and he was perfectly fine there. Difficult to criticise anyone, we were so professional throughout (penalty aside). Chaplow's best game for some time without doing anything exciting, Hammond kept possession well and mostly took the sting out of the game. Can't fault either of them really, without them being spectacular.
-
I spent most of the second half at Brisbane Rd desperately hoping Orient wouldn't score from their ton of possession down Butterfield's flank and all Cox's crosses into the box. Today I didn't even think we'd concede when we gave them the penalty (which looked like contact outside the box and a hell of a distance to fall forward to become a pen). "Lost the midfield" my arse, we were totally on top and totally in control throughout, it took a terrible tackle for them to get even close to scoring and we were always comfortable. The pen clearly hit the post. As for the "phantom" goal celebration, we were in the upper tier right in the middle, and just as my mate's phone registered the Huddersfield winner a bunch of people behind and to the right started cheering - we were doing the "cut it" gesticulation because we already knew, but it took a while to register with them.
