I’m starting to wonder whether as a result of the players and Tonda sitting down together (and assuming that the players are happy to work with him - those that are staying) that they’ve made a decision to try and stick with him as they see him as our best bet at getting back up next season. They will use Pannick or an equivalent to fight the FA charges as hard as they can and avoid a ban. A ban - he goes. No ban - he stays. Might be as black and white as that.

Anyone watching it? I won’t be. Can’t face it. Going to the village pub and sitting in the beer garden for a couple of hours. Got my day mapped out to avoid it. No radio on this morning and no mainstream websites like the Beeb.

Henry Winter is the most disappointing. This was someone who I actually thought was ok. His level of hypocrisy compared to the comments he made after Leeds did this (but even worse) is startling. A level of bias, hypocrisy, Starmeresque U turning and just lack of impartiality sticks him right in the gutter. He’s an embarrassment to his profession and that’s saying something. Remove Troy Deeney from that list. Don’t give him any air time or exposure.

I’m still angry about Nathan Jones. This is going to take time.

Spot on in every way. And now we need to move on and do some rebuilding.

Nope. Just bored of Spygate. Time for some crisps.

Tesco finest crinkle cut crisps roast beef and horseradish - try them. The best crisps ever

I will have a pop as well

I agree Egg that in itself it is not a conflict but depending upon what that person says at any hearing it could give rise to a suggestion of bias. Best just avoid it in the first place and use someone else.

When he said it I thought the £10 mill was a bit heavy but otherwise made a lot of sense

Simon Jordan proposed yesterday a 6 point penalty, a £10 mill fine and a one off match between Boro and Saints at Boro as a decider with the final having to be adjourned for a week or 10 days.

Which premier league Soccerball club will you support next season?

Funny one that because the Wolves also have their version. Unusual for two rival clubs to sing the same song -

I married a Black Country girl. Unfortunately her being a Baggies fan and me being Villa we don’t get on very well on a Saturday afternoon. -

John McGinn. Now there’s a player who I would love us to have signed. I have some vague memory that about 4 or 5 years back we made an enquiry for him. -

Always the Villa. Lived in Birmingham during the 80’s. Went to Villa Park reasonably often as a 16 to 18 year old and was there in the glory days. Some great memories but one or two bloody awful ones as well including the throwing of bananas at black players. Strange times in many respects but Villa Park was and still is in my view the best stadium in the land. -
Nothing to stop him now just resigning and going back home. Saints are not going to make him serve his notice. I’d be sorely tempted to do that if I were him rather than being grilled by the FA for hours. To be honest, there aren’t going to be a queue of clubs in England going for him in the future. He can go back to the continent and cheat away until his heart is content.

My fear here is that the club are going to wait doing anything to Tonda until the FA enquiry is over and they ban him. They will then use that as an excuse to sack him with no more monies being paid. If they sack him now they might feel they have to pay him off. If that is the case it could delay things by weeks. The club might also be thinking that the FA won’t ban him and we keep him on. Either way I suspect this won’t happen quickly.
-
I believe that the FA’s jurisdiction is only England and Wales. So he could go to Scotland I believe. We could do a swap with Rangers.
-
If my son hadn’t supported Saints I would have disowned him. One of his Mum’s friends bought him a Man Utd shirt when he was about 4. When no one was looking I wiped my arse with it and stuck it in the bin.

Agreed. Surprised not to have seen something from our Club Captain, Cap’n Jack.

In relation to this issue or generally? This issue, 2 out of 10. Generally no better than a 5.

Nothing more fatal for a business than dithering and prevaricating. Shows a lack of leadership.

By the way, personally I think we should have sacked the fucker three days ago. Just giving an independent third party’s view on this.

Fair point. Just one thought on that though. Southampton have always been seen as a family friendly, nice, provincial club that looks after its people. We often get bracketed with clubs like Norwich and Ipswich. And that’s all good and other clubs and their fans like us and respect us save for that lot down the road. But now being 57 years old and having supported Saints for well over 50 years and my Dad, Grandad and Great Grandad before, it would be bloody nice to win something. If that means having to sacrifice even to a small degree some of that niceness then I’d take it. Just one trophy. It’s the hope that kills but also keeps you coming back for more.
