Never thought I’d hear myself say this but from the time McCarthy came back in after the Bazunu injury, I cannot fault him. If you hadn’t seen him play previously you would wonder why Saints fans are not screaming for him to sign a new contract. For that short spell he was the best we’ve had between the sticks for some time. Perhaps he has reached that GK age of maturity and he’s now at his peak. I would take a gamble and sign him up on a new contract unless of course we can sign someone like Ramsdale. Anyone less than that is probably no better than McCarthy.

Will Smallbone - Official: Loaned to Millwall

He improved massively in the second half of the season and only got better towards the end. He is worth (and deserves) a starting spot for the first few games of the season to see whether he is up to it or not. -
Interesting to note in all of the posts above that there is virtually no mention of Aribo. PL quality or not? The priorities for the club over the next few days are KWP and Downes. We need both of them nailed down. That would be a great start to the summer.

I see that Spurs are going to offload Hjoberg. Still only 28. I’d have him back.

Secret Site - you’ve gone early. Just over 2 hours to go -

We’re in for the Plymouth keeper
-
Our brass band at the start will scare the shit out of them. Don’t you worry about that.
-
That’s because he’s found his level. RM hasn’t improved him. He was like this with Blackburn in the Championship. AA is not a PL player. End of.
-
He’s a Sunday league player. He has very clearly shown that he’s not good enough for this level. One of Martin’s chums though. RM is a bang average manager who has an inflated sense of his own being. We all know he won’t be here long term so just get rid now.
-
Martin needs to grow a pair and start getting nasty with the players and himself. He lives in a fantasy world where everyone is lovely. I’d sack him tonight as we’re not going up with him in charge. Ipswich or Leeds will walk it. Warnock is not a bad shout.
-
Yes you would. Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin for starters.
-
I’d take Neil Warnock right now. That’s how bad things are.
-
Hard to argue with any of that. We could sack useless Martin tomorrow and we’d just replace him with another clueless tosser.
-
Has Holgate ever played football before?
-
Ross Stewart done
-
Not sure you’re allowed to use that term
-
There’s no evidence at all to suggest KWP is going anywhere. He’s not been linked with anyone at any stage and no offers or enquiries have been made as far as we are aware
-
Give your head a wobble. And by the way this is a business, not an institution with the sole aim of making the likes of you and me happy by spending what they cannot afford. And by the way, 4 games in we’re two points off the top.
-
That’s a pity. I think he’s better than Manning from what I’ve seen of him so far
-
He’s doing alright don’t we think after the mayhem of the past 12 months? He’s not a bullshitter which I like.
-
The thing that people seem to forget whether Adams stays or leaves, we will this season get a decent number of goals from midfield with the likes of Stu and Alcaraz playing. Our midfield looks more than solid. We have potential goals coming from several players.
-
Che is too good for the championship? Really? I’m afraid based upon his record and his history of missing sitters he really isn’t. I think he is perfect for the Championship and if we go back up again he will be an ok reserve on the bench next season. No more than that. He’s not good enough to be a starter in a PL side as he proved over the last two seasons. Hence he was part of the reason we went down.

Well there is only one winner of the Idiot Child award today (yes he wins both titles) but I see he has vanished in the last two hours. Mum put him to bed. No need to mention the little man’s name.
