Mitrovic scores.
-
Targett and Redmond working well together down the left.
-
Good composure from Armstrong. Chests it forward to get a better angle and slots it in.
-
Armstrong!!!!
-
Chambers header from the corner looked dangerous but luckily right at McCarthy.
-
Hoedt did well to stop Mitrovic there. Saints back in possession.
-
Lots of Saints possession to start the game. And Gabbiadini misses a good chance.
-
Come on Saints.
-
Would be a handy option on the bench if we’re defending a lead. Wasn’t even on the bench for the Watford game.
-
Gabbiadini starts with Austin.
-
Bad decision by Hughes if true.

Nathan Redmond interview in the Mail. Talks about that conversation with Pep, and his form last season among other things... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6422833/Nathan-Redmond-family-form-talk-Pep-Guardiola.html

I’d prefer a Saints win.

“Guido Carrillo, 27, Leganés Arguably the worst piece of business in Premier League history” This made me chuckle.

Paul Mitchell set for Saints return...
Saint Albert replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
From my perspective Jeremy Wilson seems to be accurate when he reports depressing/underwhelming/deflecting Saints news. Some of his articles last year about the club sticking with Pellegrino when he obviously needed to go, drove me up the wall. -
This writer from the Mail reckons that a Fulham loss will resulti in “intense scrutiny” for Hughes by the club notwithstanding the lack of a replacement for Reed. The writer notes that the feeling “behind the scenes” is that they left it too late with Pellegrino. Duh. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6411399/Southampton-chiefs-set-make-decision-Mark-Hughes-future-lose-Fulham.html

I think that the gay community has made real progress in the last couple of decades but the ridicule and worse still aimed at members of the trans community is definitely worth highlighting, if it helps to improve attitudes.
-
I remember JWP had a few comments about the hard physical demands of the Poch regime.
-
I’m sure it’s just part of a wider worldwide campaign to educate people about the issues faced by members of the transgender community up to and including hate-based homicides, and perhaps encourage a bit of empathy. Nothing wrong with that.

Paul Mitchell set for Saints return...
Saint Albert replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Agreed, but it’s odd that he’d be publicly named by someone who’s generally considered to be the club’s media mouthpiece. I always thought that Mitchell’s return was unlikely following Alderweireld’s move to Spurs. -
Worth putting this here... “...the club do not want to risk letting the season drift. They feel that results do not reflect the squad’s quality and there is no particular desire for an overhaul in January. “We feel we have an extremely deep roster right now so at the moment we don’t plan to be active in January,” said Krueger. “We have the capability of being active but at the moment I would say we are not planning for activity in January.”” https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/11/19/southmaptons-off-field-overhaul-could-include-division-les-reeds/ I’m not particularly hopeful that there will be any significant additions to the first team “roster” in January.
-
I’ll leave this here from the latest Jeremy Wilson article in the Telegraph... “...there is a hope that the changes will inspire an upturn in form and, while Hughes is safe in the short-term, the club do not want to risk letting the season drift.” https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/11/19/southmaptons-off-field-overhaul-could-include-division-les-reeds/ He’s not going anywhere anytime soon. He might even survive a loss to Fulham.

That was a fun game to watch. Croatia must have enjoyed hearing Three Lions over the tannoy at the end.

Jardim (along with Wenger and Villas-Boas) turned down Fulham before they appointed Ranieri according to the Telegraph. Not sure what this says about Jardim’s potential availability for Southampton (I tend to think he may have more attractive opportunities). The article mentions that Jardim is “being considered by a number [of] Premier League clubs...” https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/11/14/arsene-wenger-leonardo-jardim-andre-villas-boas-turned-fulham/

The Telegraph thinks that we were interested in him during the summer... “Cahill’s availability will alert a host of clubs at home and abroad. West Ham United and Southampton were interested during the summer, while new Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri is likely to try to sign a new defender. The former England international’s former club Aston Villa could also try to tempt him to the Championship.” https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/11/14/gary-cahill-will-allowed-leave-chelsea-loan-effectively-end/
