More good buildup by Saints leads to a corner. Good chance for Hoedt with the header but right at the keeper.
-
Now Watford give the ball away but Armstrong plays it to a Watford player in the penalty area. There was not a Saints player anywhere near that ball.
-
A Hoj giveaway in midfield leads to another break. The resulting shot is deflected for a corner.
-
Yep. It was a great chance.

McCarthy makes a decent save against Deleofeu. Too easy for the Watford player to break into the Saints penalty area.

It looks like it is bucketing down at St. Marys.

The Cardiff goal probably should have been ruled offside during the goalmouth scramble leading to the goal.
-
Cardiff score in the 90th minute to make it 2-1.

Not even having Romeu as an option on the bench seems like a mistake to me.

Brighton are playing with 10 men after Stephens got a straight red towards the end of the 1st half.

This would surprise me. I thought that managing the Dutch side was one of Koeman’s dream jobs, along with managing Barcelona.

Allardyce apparently responded to the Southampton rumours on Talksport... “They've ruined themselves by selling. They've ruined the club, the stature and creating a new modern-day history by the fact that rather than keeping the players they've continually sold off their home grown talent first and then people like (Dejan) Lovren have moved on," "I'm off to Dubai next week, I can't see myself taking a job in the next three weeks at least! I've booked Dubai for New Year." https://amp.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/11/09/do-sam-allardyce-responds-when-asked-if-he-wants-southampton-job/

Ralph’s interviews always seem to consist of a series of worrying, deflating, uninspiring messages wrapped up in irritating corporate speak. Anyway, from this it looks like we can expect another barren January transfer window, and no meaningful investment from the owner. I’m not at all confident that Ralph’s “minor shifts” will result in the first team suddenly becoming able to score goals and defend during football matches.
-
I’m still having a difficult time getting past the most recent 2-3 years worth of damaging foul ups to appreciate the good things that he may have had a hand in during the successful years. Good luck to Les for the future, but he’s leaving with a tainted legacy.

Never thought I’d end up reading Nietzsche on this forum.

Having two Gao representatives on site makes me wonder a few things. Who are they? Do they have expertise in the area of PL club management? Will they be picking Ralph’s replacement? Also, if they are present to represent Gao, what is the point of Ralph Krueger, who I thought was supposed to be the owner’s representative at the club?

Worth putting this here from today’s Jeremy Wilson article... “...the position of Hughes is not under any imminent danger, the decision on Reed reflects a desire not to make the same perceived mistakes of last season by waiting to act before making changes...” https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/11/08/vice-chairman-les-reed-sacked-southampton/
-
Potentially big news depending upon what other decisions the club make, but... I was under the impression from his lower profile lately, that Reed was on gardening leave anyway. I’m not sure how meaningful this will be if Ross Wilson remains as is his successor. How responsible is Wilson for some of the club’s more recent debatable decisions? Watch this space, I suppose. Where does this leave Hughes? Anyway Reed deserved the boot for the Pellegrino fiasco alone. Best of luck to him and all that, but I’m not sad to see him go.

Sounds like the knives are out at head office.

Fulham could turn to Scott Parker as a Jokanovic replacement instead of the usual suspects, according to the Telegraph... “Rather than immediately asking a firefighter such as David Moyes or Sam Allardyce to take over, sources close to the club believe Fulham would be more likely to give first-team coach Parker the opportunity to stake his claim... ...Jokanovic introduced an attractive, passing style that Fulham would be reluctant to ditch by replacing the Serb with Moyes, Allardyce or Steve Bruce, despite their current predicament.“ https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/11/07/fulham-could-give-scott-parker-shot-manager-slavisa-jokanovic/
-
It feels like we could be in for some serious déjà vu over the upcoming weeks. I’m expecting Jeremy Wilson to author an article in the Telegraph, that will express the club’s disappointment and concern at its present predicament, but will ultimately dump cold water on the idea of them doing anything decisive anytime soon.

The odd thing is Banks gets Pellegrino’s name right in his Express article. Perhaps he was hedging his bets between his two articles.
