  1. Shouldn't make any difference if what Reed said is correct. Everyone knows he wants to leave and go to Liverpool so writing it down shouldn't change much. Unless we actually aren't that unhappy to sell and get a big fee in having "done all we could to keep the player"?
  2. Good opportunity for him. Also a bit of a reality check for some fans. He is the main striker from the U23s last season and has been sent to League Two. Shows how good you have to be to move from U23 football to PL.
  3. Good summer for Everton fans with plenty of what appear to be good signings, taking the best players from other teams.
  4. Clear this will rumble on for a while. Hopefully Saints can clear his head and get him focused. Will be intetesting to see if he travels to Austria and assuming he will, whether he plays in the game there.
  5. No. We need to sign someone to partner Romeu who actually compliments his strengths and weaknesses. We don't have anyone like that now as Romeu is slow and most of our other central midfielders are either slow, short, weak or in some cases all three. Sign a proper partner for Romeu and then if he were to be unavailable we would be able to find a better combination than would be possible today. In general we could use a couple of more physically imposing players as must be one of the smallest/weakest sides in the league, especially when VVD wasn't playing.
  6. Armstrong and RLC are attacking midfielders not Romeu style players at all. Totally agree its the main priority position. If we play 4-2-3-1 none of our currnt midfielders supplement Romeu well. All are too slow and Romeu's main weakness is mobility so a pairing of Clasie and Romeu or JWP and Romeu would just be lacking agility. If Romeu got injured then we lose any sort of physicality in there and any two from Davis, JWP and Clasie would be too weak a pairing for PL football. I would ship out Clasie (can't play alongside Romeu, not a good like for like replacement either) and sign someone in the Gueye, Schneiderlin mould who can run all day.
  7. Agree with others. If its a loan to buy then great. If its a loan to improve him for Chelsea then its uninspiring for a club that continually bigs up its recruitment ability. We need quality over quantity but not a lot of good links around at the moment as far as we are concerned. Shame not to have anyone of note in for the start of pre-season.
  8. Long's best attribute is running. In fact, probably his best 5 are physical rather than anything technical with a football. His finishing is woeful and for that reason he will always be massively limited. You just can't rely on him to score goals and thats what a striker needs to do.
  9. I take some solace in the consistency in your madness. #frontsweeper
  10. Indeed. Ultimately there is a reason Yoshida has been at Saints five seasons and never been a first choice aside from when there have been injuries (or a cluster**** in the transfer market as happened re Fonte replacement). Gradual weakening of our first XI for 18 months or so now.
  11. Their one key player will also be sold for a huge fee. Probably over double what we sold Mane for. Looking back we hugely undersold him. He immediately improved Liverpool and of his type is probably in the top two or three PL players. We should have got £50m+ IMO.

  13. Agree. We need quality not quantity. Bednarek was cheap and kind of makes sense but if he is the only CB we sign (assuming VVD doesn't go) then effectively we have replaced our captain and proven PL centre back with a rookie. Thats not how you put pressure on the top sides. Of Everton's signings, Pickford, Keane and Klassen will all start the first game and be fixtures in their starting XI. Thats what we need now. No more squad players but 3 signings who are better than what we have who can go straight into our lineup. Even one signing, a quality partner for Romeu, would do me if we were not to lose anyone else.

  15. Its almost like they don't really want any fans there.

  17. Not a whole lot of midfield target links so far. Feel it should be our no1 focus area.
  18. Out of interest would you rather have: Defoe, King, Wilson, Afobe or Gabbi, Austin, Long, Gallagher? Think probably Bournemouth edge in terms of striker options which is interesting.
  19. Targett still has a lot to prove IMO. Probably played 20+ times for the first team and rarely been above 6/10.
  20. So Yoshida or Stephens will be a first choice next season then with everyone fit. Will be interesting to see which of them.
  21. Anyone thinking we will challenge for a top four finish is mental.
  22. Not without a couple of signing to improve the first XI in central midfield and centre back. Simple question is who of last seasons top 7 can we finish ahead of realistically. Everton are the only ones really, but they have made some clever signings since January and have a good Manager.
  23. IMO this summer we only need about 2/3 signings (plus replacements for any key players). We need a summer like the one where we signed Lovren, Wanyama, Osvaldo and little else. Yes Osvaldo was a massive failure but all three were signings made to start as key players and Lovren/Wanyama massively improved the quality of our first XI. Quality over quantity this summer, certainly.
  24. Worth remembering our whole business model is based on buying, developing and selling, a stepping stone club. If you stop players leaving when they have outgrown the club or have a far superior offer on the table then Agents will be wary of sending those type of high profile players our way over other offers.
  25. Everton now in talks to sign Onyekuru and loan him to Anderlecht next season to help with his work permit. Looks a cracking player and a bargain at the fee Eupen want.
