  1. So you don't think its possible to support and be critical at the same time?
  2. Doesn't affect me but totally agree.
  3. Jay Rod should start over Long if fit IMO.
  4. Will have to start making decisions on the long term futures of the likes of Reed, McCarthy and Gallagher in the summer. Still amazed Reed has never gone out on loan.
  5. But your posts are all the same. Moaning about trolls and people moaning. What do you actually think about the transfer deadline day?
  6. Watching Clasie run through treacle to get back during their second goal counter was painful. Overtaken by pretty much everyone and he is meant to be the engine room of the side. Was only the 70th minute in a low tempo game as well. I feel for him a bit as he seems a good committed pro who has technical ability but physically he is about the opposite of what suits the PL. Too small, heavy, slow and lacking in stamina. Will never be an effective box to box player and isn't enough of a presence to be the main defensive midfielder. IMO his best games for us have been when we have just needed to dig in and grind out a result, anything requiring more and he struggles. Would look to move on in the summer if anyone came in for him - we could do better and certainly find a more PL suited midfielder.
  7. Gave him a squad in the summer with too few goals after not properly replacing Mane (or Pelle). Then this window has somehow contrived to leave us with the weakest centre back options in the league (some Championship teams are stronger IMO). Jeremy Wilson said in the DT live transfer blog yesterday that the club acknowledge VVD won't make the final so he has also personally reduced the chances of us winning silverware quite considerably. He knows Puel is slightly underfire from supporters and has twice delivered him very poor windows to the extent that we have poor CB options, a totally unbalanced array of samey midfielders and an ecletic mix of forwards. Feel for Puel who is being asked to do an almost impossible job of matching previous successee with an ever weakening squad lacking leaders and genuine quality. We won't won many games with Yoshida and Stephens at the back, it was hard enough with Fonte and VVD, one Euros winner and the best CB in the league. That said, he toes the line. A Manager like Koeman wouldnt have stood for this sort of window and would be letting the club, media and fans know what a shower of **** it was. Puel won't do that, but I would have more respect for him if he did to a certain degree. Reed has ruined this season and set us back in the long term but taking away all the momentum and good feeling that the club built up.
  8. When he said we would replace Fonye, he meant replace with Stephens. He didn't say in the interview because it was so obvious he didnt need to. Or something. Absolute cluster**** if we don't get a CB. We need that more than we need Gabbiadini and they will end up making what should be a good buzz of a record signing seem like a crap deadline day.
  9. Tasci is an odd one. Have seen a report saying he has a slight injury, isnt leaving Spartak and is training with them in Dubai, which surely makes a move unlikely. We keep being linked with CBs so clearly want one. Would be an absolute **** up to end the window with just Yoshida, Stephens and Gardos, with VVD out for a couple of months and yet spend big money on a striker that we could probably get away with leaving until the summer, although its a good signing.
  10. We are surely going to sign a CB today, right? Trail seems cold on all of the ones linked to us with Wague going to Leicester, Sakho we will only offer a loan which Liverpool don't want and Tasci seemingly not coming here now - he is training with Sparktak in Dubai at the moment. Gabbiadini is a good signing and the keeper definitely required but if we don't sign a good CB then its been a poor window on reflection, leaving us far weaker in that important area. Surely we will bring one in? Would be mental not to.
  11. We probably are. Any deal would need to be fairly advanced at this stage so sure that one is going nicely behind the scenes. Bit of a different deadline day to any other January one in ages.
  12. http://gianlucadimarzio.com/it/calciomercato-napoli-in-mattinata-incontro-decisivo-con-lagente-di-gabbiadini Key meetings this morning or we will walk away as need time for medical etc. Would be a big blow if it doesnt happen after clearly a lot of time and effort invested into it but hopefully they will sort it out otherwise its surely too late to do much else in that position. De Laurentiis is an Italian film producer so clearly loves a drama!
  13. Why? That would be a virtual club record signing in a window that the Club usually do very little business as its not good value and usually a sign the summer recruitment wasn't sufficient. What do you expect exactly?!
  14. Shaping up to be busy the next couple of days, the Nice keeper flying in tobight according to reports, Gabbiadini tomorrow and surely a centre back to follow too. All required (assuming McCarthy's new injury is serious), but as Jan is acknowledged by Reed as not a good time to do major business its certainly a change! In terms of outs, should we get another keeper then perhaps Lewis can go out on loan, or just focus on learning his trade with the U23s like most 19 year old GKs would. Could see Isgrove going, Reed really should go out on loan now we have fewer games and possible the odd other U23 player, Olomola for example. Interesting to see Jay Rod's Dad retweeting an article suggesting WBA will try again to sign him before the end of the window...surely not? IMO this summer we could dispense with one of our strikers but I would JR as the one of the three I would most want to keep...
  15. Striker. He can play out wide but isn't a winger. Fully expect we would use him down the middle. Could be a buy with a view to reverting to the diamond long term as he could thrive in a front two also.
  16. This is definitely a problem area IMO. We have no genuine cover for Romeu and a series of players, JWP, Clasie and Reed who have to be paired in the right way with other players in order to avoid having a very lightweight or small midfield. Romeu and Davis are nailed on starters in our best team and currently JWP fills the other slot. Take Romeu out and we have zero physicality and must be a delight to play against in that area. My no1 summer request would be a box to box central midfielder with an ability to run for 90mins and who can get to loose balls quicker than the likes of Clasie, Hojbjerg and JWP. Would help with our issue of being counter attacked from our own set plays also - we have a very slow centre midfield.
  17. What the **** are you on about?
  18. Price has now gone up and Napoli considering loaning him or renewing contract. Saints being trolled by De Laurentiis who knows we have an agreement with the player. http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/southampton-negotiating-with-napoli-for-gabbiadini-no-agreement-yet-between-clubs Wilson getting some experience in the big leagues of Italian negotiation, wonder when we walk away?
  19. De Laurentiis is a mercato pro, he would eat wee Ross for breakfast! Still a way to go on this one and its getting pricy for someone who hasn't played much recently. http://www.ultimecalcionapoli.it/calciomercato/274128/venerato-telefonata-infuocata-tra-de-laurentiis-e-lagente-di-gabbiadini-la-risposta-del-southampton-al-napoli/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Market news regarding the transfer of Manolo Gabbiadini from Naples to Southampton directly by journalist and industry expert Rai, Ciro Venerable, that during Zone 11 PM took stock of the situation. This morning there was a call from bright tones between the agent of the player, Silvio Pagliari, and Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has not accepted the offer of Southampton for 16 million euro plus four bonus. The blue president is willing to give Gabbiadini 17 million plus 3 divided bonus as well: one million after ten goals scored, another million at 15 and the third at 20 goals he scored during the entire duration of the contract until 2021 . Moreover De Laurentiis claims 10% on future sale of the player. The Southampton answer is negative on 10% discount on future resale and on the base station, while the bonuses you can deal because the four million bonus offered so far would be divided into two million easily accessible and the other two are difficult to reach. Currently Pagliari and Guintoli are pressing the English club so that it can change the offer.
  20. Sunderland willing to match our offer apparently now they have the Van Aanholt money. Sounds like this saga will continue to roll on...
  21. Once the Anfield euphoria dies down a little in the coming days this will feel like a huge blow. To lose our best player in our weakest position cover wise for most of the rest of the season is ****. Especially as he will surely go in the summer. Such a shame.
  22. From the Italian reports it sounds like the Napoli Chairman De Laurentiis keeps rejecting our offers and pushing the price higher. Apparently we have offered a 5m loan with 15m option in the summer (presumably Euros) and he has rejected this. Sounds like it will drag on (if it goes ahead) which is a shame as he would have been a good option from the bench on Tuesday.
  23. They won't be paying £200m for a minority stake, if that value from the article is true. The Liebherr's have proven trustworthy til now and especially if they retain some sort of interest you would expect they know what they are doing. But Asian investment in UK football has been disasterous until now so its right to be sceptical. Unless they put significant sums of money in and retain the current leadership structure of the club, then I would be very cautious.
