  1. A massive differential has been the relapse of Long to his more typical form *****il injury of course). From about December onwards last year he was our main striker but is yet to score for us this season I think.
  2. Most I've ever celebrated an Intl goal. Amazing moment against the grain of Intl football which is utter dross.
  3. The comments are all a bit poor from Fonte IMO. Have lost a bit of respect for him over the summer and into this season.
  4. Backup RB targetted by the looks of it. http://sportwitness.co.uk/southampton-24-year-old-luxembourg-international-fee-wouldnt-even-reach-1m/ Expect Martina will leave on a free at the end of the season (or for a small fee in Jan if this deal goes through).
  5. Sure we will pick a young team as we have in the other games. Jay Rod won't play, especially as Long is injured. Gardos the only possible overage player.

McCarthy is injured so Forster and Saints are likely just playing it safe.
  8. This is his worst attribute (along with coming off his line) and yet it barely ever costs us. Comparatively we have far more issues than Forster. He is a key player and one of the top 5 or 6 in the league in his position. If we had a striker anywhere near that we would be excellent.
  9. What attacking system would you play then Dez?
  10. Puel keeps saying we have a "young team" not used to playing every three days, but its not really true in the league, is it? https://southamptonfc.com/news/2016-11-06/claude-puel-post-hull-city-2-1-southampton-reaction Today Redmond was our youngest player (22) and he has well over 100 career apps. Seven of our starting XI were over 25 and the others were (Redmond aside) VVD, Clasie and Romeu - all experienced for their age. Many of these players played European or Intl football before joining us. Just seems a strange thing to continually underline. Today wasn't a lesson for a young team at all.
  11. Being saved for the Crawley game because its our best chance of reaching a cup final.
  12. Yoshida at RB today.
  13. Great player, but of course you'd to pay to watch him. Thats kind of how going to watch professional football works.
  14. Assuming you are family, be proud - he has been great. Also seems like an intelligent lad who comes across superbly. That clearly helps his football.
  15. He is literally just cover for Bertrand. There is a huge drop in quality between Bertrand and Targett. McQueen has been a big upgrade on Targett of late and has lessened the impact of Bertrand being out. He just seems more assured and better physically suited to this level of football than MT. No slight on Matt. PL is a harsh world and Targett struggles in many games at that level.
  16. Funny then that JWP, McQueen and Yoshida (brought in for those rested) were all within our best 5 players on the night. Puel got it right as he has most of the season.
  17. Miles better than Targett, especially in physical attributes, concentration and game management. Big find.
  18. Brilliant night. Deserved win! McQueen, JWP and Hojbjerg excellent but Van Dijk the outstanding player by a distance. He is ridiculous. Should go through now and should go to Prague looking to overhaul them at the top of the group.
  19. Any sightings of beered up Inter fans throwing bottles off the Itchen Bridge?
  20. Why? Its a business owned by an individual. They won't communicate anything they don't need to, especially as these situations and fluid and can change quickly.
  21. China is well known for its vast supply of down to earth 'football men' who are steeped in the history of the game and know what its like in the lower leagues.
  22. Tidy profit from a canny investment by Markus Liebherr. It makes a lot of sense to sell now.
  23. Its not just the 'big' games he doesn't impose himself in. He is, as you say, good at tracking players and most likely does what the manager says, but he just doesn't look like he has what it takes. If he hasn't adapted by now then I doubt he ever will. If he can't play 90mins regularly after well over a year then will he ever?
  24. Awful defending for both goals.
  25. From the excitement when we signed him he is one of the most disappointing signings since we moved back to the PL. Very average going forward, physically unsuited to the league. Would rather have Jack Cork in the squad. He just doesn't do a lot and also struggles to complete 90mins or take part in more than one game per week. Seems to be a good pro and works hard, just looks like this level and the speed of the game is really hard for him.
