Won't he be very expensive? Prem money needed perhaps?
-
he didn't play last season, but the season before, 21/22, he played exclusively at CB for the entire season for Everton. The season before 20/21 he played mostly at rb for Everton. He's going to be an option at both positions.
-
cbs that can play right back tend to get good technical players, and mobile, which is what RM is after, however that usually comes at a cost in terms of physical strength and power/domination in the air. I've not watched him closely at CB for Everton, so don't know if that part of his game is weakness or not. If not, then he will be fine. If Wood comes too, we will have a nice mix of ages 22, 26, 27 and 29 at the CB position if nothing else.

I thought Holgate did pretty well at WBA, but playing almost entirely at RB. That was way back in 2018/19 though, so not sure its the best scouting report to use.

they feel like seperate moves, and if Lyanco and ABK are departing, both needed.

Like the sound of that. I am struggling to think of a striker that would come here AND would be considered `better' than Piroe, although I don't doubt there are better strikers than him.
-
Aren't PSV looking to sign him?
-
Just as I was feeling a little low, you guys have brightened my day.

Holgate will be one of those players. We were linked right at the very start, so that move has been coming. Either a CB is departing very soon or Everton simply wanted to wait to see how preseason panned out and not leave themselves short by letting him go before now.

good spot. I don't know, but maybe it has something to do with the fact we spent £160m last year and have had our TV income drop from £115m to £45m. Either that or we have lost the club cheque book.

How many times have we agreed a price for a player only for the player to snub us? Not sure, maybe it happened with Gakpo, but it's hard to tell. There was so much false information being put out, it was difficult to know when our interest ended. Leeds seemed to be the ones that got snubbed at the 11th hour rather than us. Have there been others?

How does the Athletic get to know these things?
-
You mean Pansil may have.

Agree with that. Osman was very average, but his 'hero' tag glossed over some shoddy defending.
-
Doesn't sound right. Players would have been sounded out first before wasting time on negotiations.
-
Pretty standard for every team I'd of thought. It's not as easy as it looks to make transfer deals happen.
-
I read £30m, but it matters little if they can't find £5m for the first installment for Che, as you'd assume Udinese would want more than that for their first installment. Or maybe they don't?
-
Wonder which players are 'confused' by Dyche tactics? They must be thick is pigshit.
-
Burnley bid for Bakayoko from PSV, so still in the market for a winger, but once again the offer of £17m was too low.

Shankland scored a nice penalty and then an even better finish (1:55) was chalked off for offside in the game against PAOK tonight https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66573741

Yep. At the time of the sake it was reported that £100m bought a 80% stake. It felt like slight guesswork though. It could have been £110m, which would then have matched The Mail story that Dragon took out a £110m loan to buy the club.

I can't believe he isn't signing for us. I have thought all summer Che out, Piroe in was a certainty. I'm wrong again.
-
He has scored loads of goals in the Scottish League 1 and Scottish Championship, but not in the Scottish Premiership, until last season. The season prior to that one, he struggled to score goals in the Belgium top flight. This is probably the first summer that English clubs will have looked at him as an option. For me, in the videos I've watched, he looks very confident and composed, but not ruthless. I'm not convinced he is the man, but we're in the championship now, so all targets are going to have question marks. Wish there were a few more options than Piroe, him and Duk.

Whoever the scout was for those two, assuming he was also the guy that recommended Ramos and Gakpo, knows a decent player when he sees one...but he really dropped a bollock with the Onuachu recommendation.
