he's a genuine talent and well worth the investment. My Forest supporting mate thinks they have undersold him.

'Eventually it catches up with you' - The season the pundits are right?
Chez replied to Saint Benali's topic in The Saints
The team can't be great forever. All clubs go through cycles. Just run with it. At some point there has to be some ying to all this positive yang. We've had for the last seven years. For anyone worrying, think on that We are about to live out one of our footballing dreams, even relegation won't take that experience away. -
Yes and they got a 45 minute demonstration to help with their purchase decision.

absolutely spot on. Where on earth does everyone think all this news comes from? As much as we like to think the press make everything up, most stories come from sources and 9 times out of 10 that source is an agent. I don't think united were interested in Fonte or he was ever going there, it was just the `game' being played to try and get that extra year.

Why didn't spurs go for Bolasie rather than Zaha?
-
Wasn't Austin really the replacement for Pelle, it's just that Pelle changed his mind and we didn't want to risk missing out on Austin?

In my eyes Cuco looked slightly awkward and dare I say it uncomfortable on the ball. He may have been perfectly in control and confident, but for me he never gave that impression. Defensively he didn't seem to do too much wrong though and that is after all what he's employed for, but fullbacks have to do more than hold an end up these days. Overall he was OK, but not exactly inspiring and far from the best we can do. It's the richest league in the world. We shouldn't need to accept `OK'. If they are not a great prospect or top notch already why are they at the club?

interesting. As I have said many times on here, Targett's lack of pace is a major problem if he is going to play at fullback. Has Erkin got pace? I like the look of Baily Cargill at Bournemouth, but doubt he's on our (Puel's) radar.

It will be Burke in, with JayRod going out on loan

pace and power, tricks galore. Exactly the signing we needed to help forget all about Mane...wrong price bracket though
-
I'd agree with that. The side lacks physicality and height. It's worth noting that Morgan and Wanyama used to win pretty much every single header in midfield. That sort of thing goes unnoticed a lot of the time, but its still an important part of the game no mater how much things have changed. Without them we don't win ball, don't have as much ball and in the end that effects the number of chances, control of the game and the result. If taking pillows and mattresses on away trips can make a difference, then extra height at corners has to come into play somewhere... Losing Pelle could also have an effect on us defensively from set pieces. He used to win a lot of headers in our own box, as did Ricky before him. We have hardly conceded in that area for years. Watch goals against (from set plays) creep in this season...

in terms of trip to London, Forest are at the New Den tonight. Just saying like.
-
Maybe we will also do that, but on the other hand...
-
What exactly is the point of offering him a new deal? To keep him happy?
-
Straight replacement for Mane. Can't be long before we return to two wide men...
-
Should have signed him last January (HCDAJFU) and saved ourselves a few bob. It was obvious to anyone that watched him that he was a talent. Sadly even the likes of the of the scousers have him on their radar. I've seen him quite a bit and can say, although not the finished article, he would pose a threat straight away, if not perhaps the final ball or finish. He has great pace and is very direct. He wasn't short on confidence last season, but at the moment he's off the scale taking on anyone and everyone. He's also bulked out a fair bit since last season, which makes me think he might be effective immediately. Having said all that he doesn't feel like our kind of signing.
-
do they want him?
-
I'd be surprised if he was on 2.5m euros a year at Nice. That sounds very high to me.
-
When's this bloody Burke deal going through? Gee, I give the club the benefit of my free scouting advice and they just seem to sit on their hands...;-)

How long is Bertrand expected to be out for?

First of all I don't think Arsenal or ManU are interested in signing Fonte at all. I think the media have been spoon fed stories to create a bargaining chip in contract negotiations. As for those, I wouldn't want to be adding an extra year to Fonte's contract. I can see the benefit of keeping him happy with a raise, but it makes much more sense to see how things pan out this season before offering another year to the two he already has. Personally I think his positioning and reading of the game are perhaps at their peak, but he has certainly lost a yard of pace and that will only get worse. Can we find better? There are players out there as we ourselves have proved...but will we?
-
All that matters is the number of away tickets that will be available.
-
If we'd spent £27m on Bolasie I'd of been absolutely thrilled with that signing. He's one of the few players outside the big teams and the champions that I look at and think he should be. I am a huge fan of his and I would have instantly forgotten Mane. Shame. As for the OX, with him in the squad we could revert to a standard 442 never mind this diamond ****.
-
Pretty fair assessment, although not certain all is lost with current squad. Have to agree about Redmond.
-
Remember the days when it was us that dominated midfield? Lose control in that area and you will struggle to win games. I don't see a single saints player in that area that is top quality. Lots of OK and average...
