They love him because he came on the pitch and had a moan at a ref against Sunderland. He showed he had passion, which until that point the skates didn't think he had. Another key factor is that he's spent three/four months saying how great the fans are to anyone that will listen and not already bored to tears by him. Oh and he also managed the side that beat us, that usually goes down well with supporters. Personally I think the hand he had was **** and they improved under him, but they were still a terrible side so lost every week. Cov, Saints (a), Sunderland, Brum, Spurs. Is that especially easy?

I've always rated him. Pacey, tricky and and decent football brain on him. No need for him to drop down a division though.

another strong, tall defender, Pardew really does know what he is doing doesn't he. We've gone from Skacel, Perry, Thomas, James to Harding Jardi, Fonte and possibly this lad. The days of getting mugged by long ball ****e like Watford are long gone. He looks a `winner' and can quite clearly play. Very pleased indeed.

As much as I admired his comitment, I was never a fan and felt his lack of height caused us a lot of problems. No coincidence that we conceded a lot of goals to hoof ball sides when he played. The difference since Jardi and Trottman (and then Fonte) came to the club is so obvious. That said I thought he did very well when called on this season especially when he had Jardi alongside him.

No surprises at all in that list except perhaps for the bottler Semi who's pace got us out if jail a few times. Two new right back coming - very exciting.

I thought the Boyd loan deal with Forrest evolved into a proper sale come June 1st, hence I left him out of the list on purpose, that and the fact there is zero chance of him coming here. He would be a great signing and one many of us suggested two seasons ago. Sadly we didn;t have the funds then.

Thomas is too slow to play right back. After the skates running riot down the left wing right in fron of Pardew's nose he will never again leave himself short of pace at fullback. Thomas won't get a new deal anyway as Pardew clearly does not rate him. He's spot on as well IMO.

I am not sure why the club wants to go down this route, perhaps to get rid of the Itchen north lads from the main stand, but if Cortese really wanted a `cop' he could close the Itchen north block 4 and put the family centre in Northam end. That would force fans to relocate into his `cop'.
