  1. How abotu Arron Davies from Forest. Was a top performer in league 1 for Yeovil, tore Forest apart a couple of seasons ago so they bought him and he has failed to deliver for them. Might be worth a look. Not getting into their league side.
  2. if he settles in quick I'd like to think we might get him signed up for the full year. I'm fascinated to see how Hammond and Trottman fair. For far too long we have bought `average' name players (Harding might even fit into this category) instead of raiding the best talent from the lower leagues. Now we are in a lower league we finally take advantage. Its been a very very bad week for me so I'm excited at this signing and the potential forward steps we might be taking.
  3. they certainly did, but note also that Pearson also bought Michael Morrison a young player from Cambridge United - a young pacey CB with lower league experience similar to our man Trot
  4. Plenty are available for loan or for sale IMO: Wayne Thomas Marek Saganowski Chris Perry Grzegorz Rasiak Paul Wotton Lee Holmes Tommy Forecast Oliver Lancashire Anthony Pulis Lee Molyneux Michael Poke Jake Thomson Jamie White Oscar Gobern Jack Boyle Ryan Doble Andrej Pernecky Jack Saville Callum McNish Ben Reeves
  5. Agreed. Guthrie was absolutely superb for us and perhaps more important than the Saga loan signing. If the players that come in are better than the ones you have it doesn't matter if they are loans or not. I welcome the lad with open arms. I've been critical of Perry and Thomas for longer than I can remember so seeing any alternative makes me happy.
  6. I thought I knew allt he decent young dentre backs out there in leaguers 1 and 2 but obviously I don't as I don't know this young fella, but if Preston are willing to stump up £500,000 for him then you'd got to think he has something abotu him as they don't ever spend any money and they do usually unearth some decent centre backs. To be honest anyone is going to be better than what we have. I'd like to see another CB as well perhaps even bigger than 6'2".

thanks for the offer but I'm afraid I'm going to struggle to get out of work early enough for your minibus. Flippin car. Still waiting for the garage to confirm the head gasket issue as I guess there is a small chance its not that and I can make my own way there.

head gasket just gone on my car so I will either have a ticket going - collection near Southampton train station - or I need a lift to the game - anyone help me?
  13. what a load of cack. No one is going to tell me he lacks bottle. I've never seen a man as comitted as Wotton. He was like a man posessed at Ashton Gate last season.
  14. I thought Wright did a decent job. I can't say that about Wotton.
  15. I like your assessment of Gobern. He looked right at home at CM when he played there against Manure. I don't see him as a wide midfielder.
  16. **** poor crossing from a player ill at ease at right midfield. At best he's a holding midfield player. Never a right midfielder in a million years.
  17. agreed. I have to ask why we signed Murty if height was an issue. A slow full back may as well be a slow tall full back like Harding. We need to get Gillett back in the side
  18. Let me start my reply by saying that I thought Pardews decision to sub Schneiderlin rather than Wotton was rediculous (how he can now moan about us playing it long when he took our only decent passer off is beyond me - Wotton is a hoof ball, over the shoulder talentless player Pardew if you had not worked it out). So I am not defending Pardew for any reason. However, I do have some sympathy for his decision to take Perry off rather than a striker. I thought Lambert and Rasiak worked hard and well together and they deserved to stay on the pitch, but unfortunatley every ball was a hoof so they had very little to work with. I doubt Saga would have brought anything to the party. If anything Paterson should have come on as he hjas shown great strength in the air - more than Rasiak. In contrast the two centre backs were having absolute shockers and their poor marking, decisions, and distribution meant the ball never found our midfield. They effecively killed our side time after time with ball tobleroning off their heads, slicing into touch, wacked through to the keeper etc.. Sadly Lancashire offered no better. If Pardew drops Scheiderlin and plays Wotton for Swindon then any faith I had will be lost overnight. Time after time we subbed Schneiderlin last season and we became a far less effective side because of it. Pardew has already done that once and if he did not see he made a mistake then I expect a very long season indeed. I want to see us pass teams off the park and the likes of Rasiak and Lambert actually want to see the ball to feet not round their shoulders - we are not going to get that with Wotton over Morgan.
  19. who said Misfud was quick? Quick like Saga or compared to Wotton, but quick as in fast, I don't think so.
  20. wow.
  21. I can't fault Wotton's desire and effort, but that is just not enough. A central midfielder should be the best player on the park. Great first touch, excellent passing ability, combined with an engine and enough pace to keep his oppossing CM honest.
  22. absolutely not, but the manor of the defeat are the obvious failings (in terms of pace and height from our centre backs, threat from our wide players, ability to get hold of the ball in midfield, and pace up front) are a real concern. JPS or Perry at the back? Its a no brainer so why not make this happen?

    Lee Holmes

never been a fan but I 'm not sure he could do worse than the others.
  24. Jesus he was a liability. They wacked over the top and he falls over, they play it to the strikers feet an he nearly falls over. He looks a very very poor player on that short display. Hopefully he will get his act together. Unlike the other two time is on his side.
  25. I simply do not understand why Woton gets a game ahead of Gillett. Wotton is so slow he can't ever make a tackle. I can only assume that Pardew wants that extra bit of height. That is the only thing Wotton offers ahead of Gillett.
