  1. Didn't take long before we got our first `happy clappy' name calling. Every Saints fan wants the absolute best for the club. We are all ambitious. We all want to see our side at the top. Still, if it makes you feeel superior you do carry on.
  2. teams relegated to league 1 = 3 teams relgated and in adminstration =1 teams relegated, in adminstration and then ****ed around for 5 weeks by a bunch of tyre kickers = us Charlton have signed just three players, one of which was only today. We've signed Harding and at a stretch you could say Davis. Christ stop being such a drama queen. Quality players at the right price and on the right wages are hard to get no matter who you are and what level.
  3. Shelvey is talked in terms of £3m. That is not an `any old' signing. Again why would he leave Charlton for us? Webber is a good choice. Tyson could get a CCC move if you ask me. Gray is tosh.
  4. Shame Lynch signed for Forrest earlier in the week.
  5. `Charlton need the money' should have been your response!
  6. maybe we will raid Brighton, if so he's an idea of who's who: http://www.thefootballforum.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=171966
  7. yep. Hands firmly tied by financial constraints. Played the youth team and didn't do badly.
  8. worked and devloped a lot of decent youngsters at Brighton and will know who to buy from League 1 thats for sure.
  9. he's that rich he can employ someone to carry his cheque book?
  10. both player of the season for their respective clubs and excellent potential signings, but why on earth would either club sell them to a rival League 1 side, and just as importantly why would either player - having shown they could do the business in the CCC - want a horizontal move?
  11. Great headline. Some of you need to lighten up a little and remember that we have only just been saved from fate worse than death - shopping on a Saturday afternoon!
  12. I didn't rate him at the time, so I and the Saints management perhaps got that wrong, but what we could have done was shown more patience and foresight and signed him and loaned him out. The problem these days is young players want a big contract and you can't offer that to someone that is not going to be in the first team for some time. I guess the financial model of the club would need to be readjusted to spend more on youth development, and by that I mean finding the money to put young players on three, four and five year contracts. A gamble, but then so is signing a player for a million or more and then him not working out.
  13. in reality we only don't need keepers and even reserve keeper might be up for grabs as the others have not impressed.
  14. once these two have sorted out their lives then AP will kjnow where he stands, have the available transsfer funds and wages available to get who he wants. I know we want our line up sorted, but it has to be prudent to sell before you buy. With a bit of luck the minute the contract is singed we can unveil their replacements. These are very interesting times. Enjoy it.
  15. is this some sort of trial for a new promoition from Durys? Buy a room and get a free Saints ticket? Could work you know. if not why?

    Milwall

they sold out (SMS allocation) a few years ago in the CCC but that was in a game ti avoid relegation.
  19. perhaps he thought that the billionaire owner would chuck silly money at him. I'm glad they didn't. Lets get hungry rising stars here.
  20. How about Josh Thompson to fill the vacent centre back position. 18 years old and 6"4 and interesting Premiership clubs. They unlike us won't be able to offer first team football. This is exactly the sort of player we should be busting a gut to sign IMO. £250,000 is the rumoured price.

    Murty

or perhaps 4) he is choosing to assess him over a longer period of time to make sure he makes the right decision.
  22. behave. If all three go the wage bill will be massively reduced and AP will have much more flexibility in the transfer market. Whetehr or not he brings the right players in is of course a different matter.
  23. It looks like Mark Bright to me.
  24. spot on. Add to that we've already seen a reduction in bull**** news items on the OS, no leaks to the press about any of the internal goings on, and by not offering Stern John silly money that he could nto turn down - a clear indication that the club will be well run financially as well.
