So "what is needed to get out of this hole" is to just say there's no relegation battle until Easter. Oh I wish I was as wise and learned as you oh great noble elder.
-
If we lose we're down. To be honest in this scenario Forest win and they are pretty likely to go down as well. Beating Saints will not define anyone else's season (in the same way that losing to Man City doesn't either). Personally I think a likely scenario is we win on Wednesday and still go down. Because we're very easily one of the worst three in the league.

Basically they've bought the wrong club. They should have taken this plan to a Championship club with potential - and then tried to do the wonderkid strategy with them. Then they could have got to the Prem like Rasmus did with Brentford. Less pressure and in a division where having a defined clear club strategy can genuinely provide an advantage. And the risk is lower, as even if you don't go up you can sell players on to keep afloat (like Brentford did). To try and make this too-clever-by-half strategy in the Premier League with a club already hollowed out is proving to be absolute madness. They have absolutely fucked this.

Probably basing it on those plus the other 8 he has also scored. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/terem-moffi/profil/spieler/538874

No one expects to beat Man City any more so fans arenβt going to go into those games in anything other than supportive mode. If Leeds got dicked 1-3 at home to Brighton then their fan base would not jolly it all along clapping and cheering their heroes like loyal little soldiers. They'd be fuming and booing and leaving early. I think it is already getting tiresome this idea that all other fans are mega supportive and don't complain and just obediently clap and cheer their teams in all circumstances. But horrid Saints fans uniquely get annoyed when the team are perpetually awful. Personally I think stop going on about the fans and let's see if this manager who was recruited specifically to keep us in the Premier League can actually do that.

Depends whether we win or not.
-
Not sure why you would get so upset about sacking a manager "every five minutes" if you don't think the manager contributes anything anyway. We might as well all have a go.
-
Why do Man City bother paying Guardiola Β£20m a year then? Might as well just give the job to Sunday League Geoff and let the players sort it out. If we found ourselves with an elite manager then of course the players would perform better/be fitter/more motivated/focused/organised/briefed etc.

Semmens is going to play this just perfectly π Jan 31st we will not be held to ransom and really when you think about it loking back we saved a lot of money and anyway good luck to him at Crystal Palace.
-
At least Moffi has some kind of goalscoring record. Looks like the kind of player we could get and might do a job for us.
-
You can always tell the real fans on here because we all call the club "Soton" all the time. Welcome aboard. You must have some great stories from your many years following our club like you definitely do πππ

There were a few games last season where the team capitulated, or just collapsed after a half an hour of flattering to decieve. Or just rolled over from the get go. This Ralph team trait of always "trying" and "fighting" sounds like the biggest load of post-rationalisation bollocks I have heard. Especially in the second half of last season we were weak as piss over and over again.

Hughes took over from Pulis and they finished 9th three seasons in a row, higher than Pulis ever finished with anyone.
-
Probably, yeah. But if you read the post you originally replied to piping up about lawyers it is pretty obvious the "we" is the fanbase. I use the phrase "no one wanted him" which can't possibly mean the club, what with them like giving him the job and everything.
-
You've been on this forum long enough to know the answer to that.
-
The fanbase ("we") don't owe him that though. Which was the point I was making before you started waving your cock about you knowing some lawyers.
-
Instead of looking at "an actual metric" you could look at an actual football match where we wee appalling and made Brighton look like 1970 Brazil.
-
If anyone needed further proof that XG is a load of old toot then here we go. On no actual metric or objective measure (you know, like watching the game with your human eyes) were we twice as good as Brighton at anything during that match. And we didn't "limit" them to anything, they were all over us. We were utter dogshit. Our XShit rating was 325 shitpoints compared to Brighton's 13. I worked that our with logarithms and everything.
-
Let me know when one of those lawyers is prepared to argue that supporters of a Premier League football team have some kind of contractual obligation to the current manager of the first team.
-
Funny, I thought that was your suggestion.

The club made an obviously terrible appointment and that guy is proving to be obviously terrible. The fanbase who didn't want him in the first place for that reason still don't want him now he is immediately proving to be as terrible as foreseen. I dont know how that has translated to a handful of forum know-alls that "hur hur fickle Saints fans want a different manager every month" they're so impatient and knee jerk etc etc. Its not like Jones was greeted as a conquering hero that we all adored and straight away we've all flipped our opinion. No one wanted this fucking guy from day dot. We don't owe him any loyalty or a second bloody thought. So yeah, do your "Saints fans are so fickle they want a different manager every month" routine. Fill your boots. The truth is they don't. They never wanted Nathan Jones in any month, ever, in the first place.
-
So do I. And that was why SR gave him the job to keep us up and build to mid table Prem. SR's plan, not "entitlement from fans" like you try and make out. The SR plan. If he fails at the first hurdle and we go down, he will be sacked. Relegation will not be the starting point of the glorious Nathan Jones era built over multiple transfer windows like you think it will. He'll be sacked sacked sacked and gone. Hate to break your heart but there you go.
-
I think the only person absolutely desperate for Sports Republic are reading this thread is you, with your desperate fawning about how wonderful it will be to let Jones relegate us so he can create a wonderful team in his own image in "several windows" time. Because that will really show the horrible short term knee jerk fans, won't it? SR are just faultless aren't they though? β€β€β€ Me, I dont need SR to do anything, I'm not even asking them to. Check the thread. I'm just telling you that if we go down Jones will be sacked. As it stands I am not even sure he will make it to the closing day of the season. You think otherwise, which is your perogative. Time will tell.

This was pretty easy to predict in the summer. Gakpo was already too good for Leeds or us. He knew it, his agent knew it, as did his international manager. He just had to hang on and the big move would happen.
