I think this is correct on all fronts. I think the only outstanding twist is that Badenoch joins up with Sunak (think Redwood/Ken Clarke from many years ago). This has been presented by some insiders as Gove's masterplan all along. No idea if it will actually play out like that (she did lay into him in the ITV debate) or even if it does whether it will work. Truss would be unspeakable but probably great news for Labour.

I wish we were Burnley.

There aren't any. Put his name in Twitter and there lots of posts with rumours linking him with Brentford and Leicester and then a handful of Saints fan accounts saying they'd like him. Also Leicester and Brentford fan accounts saying they'd like him.

We all got told to work from home today and tomorrow so I will be on the laptop in the garden all day. Well until about two o'clock when I fully expect our shed to catch fire.

Look, its obviously just a mild flu. Oh sorry wrong thread.

Lose today and we can forget about staying up this season.

I won't be making any lifestyle changes whatsoever until I hear Matthew Le Tissier's views on the subject.

I remember it as The Echo basically reported it as "this is our new club crest to go on shirts", not may be, will be. And it was dreadful. Like clip art of the old The Saint TV show logo that you might see on the side of a white van going round Portswood. Then a bit of protest and quietly dropped. Edit: Sorry, I just remembered he had a fucking scarf for arms.

The United Kingdom and the Death of Boris Johnson as we know it.

Theresa May and Boris Johnson are creating an exciting new trend, which was pretty rare/non-existent until May did it. They both came to power outside of an election, and lost power outside of an election, but still managed to lead their party to an election in the middle of it. Never really happened before and now two in a row. -

I think Heath in the 1970s. Never in my lifetime and I've been voting since 97. -
I wish we were Nottingham Forest.

Too right. We should only sign players who have been Saints fans since childhood and would actively refuse to consider playing for any other club. We definitely don't want anyone with any ambition to play for the biggest clubs in the world.

Hmmm. It might work but I don't think it will. For a start it means an election would have to be called. I can't see the Tories letting it go through and actually think they will scramble to the moral high ground "look at the Labour Party playing politics, don't they know there's a war on". The Daily Mail will of course go for that. I had a similar feeling the other day. The very minute John Major decided to come out and say that Boris needed to go now was exactly the minute he never was going to go now. The current Tories can still agree on some things: don't give Labour or John Major the satisfaction.

Well, he was desperate to hang it out until the Conference which would have been another six weeks and got him a load of opportunity to do "see what you're giving up on" speeches and appearances/standing ovations, like some Elton John farewell tour. Well done to the 1922 Committee for cutting that out. It's an odd election. I don't know who is actually going to win, but I still feel I know plenty of names that definitely won't win. At least half the contenders are there as a profile raising operation to get into the cabinet.

For some reason, the Acting Prime Minister gets to carry on until September 5th. An exciting new future for this country beckons. £xxx billions of tax cuts only a few weeks away, and with no impact on public services at all. It’s a shame they didn't do all this stuff before now. So, the leadership election is underway and, interestingly enough it isn't a simple first past the post which I was led to believe previously was by far the fairest and most effective way of running elections. Maybe not after all. Anyway this poll from an influential Tory blog is interesting. Big old Penny and, er, Kemi Badenoch seem to be most preferred by members. Riiiight.

I think the most reliable evidence is that he says he is a Villa fan regularly on commentaries, and has been repeating that fact for years.

Traditionally if you exclude Heath, Major, Blair, Brown, Cameron and May. -

He's a rent-a-quote partisan piece of shit. Everything that Boris has done he has come out with off-the-peg defence lines: "how could he possibly have remembered about Chris Pincher, he's a busy man...it's a load of fuss about a cake....etc etc" I think he was the prick that came out and said Nurses and Teachers were all having after work beers all the time throughout the pandemic. If it was Boris having a beer he'd be on the airwaves yabbering on about how everyone needs a beer and whats all the fuss about. Of course Starmer does it and he's right out the gate with what a disgrace it is. Utterly predictable horseshit. Basically our Batman with a tie and stupid hair. -

It's an elected role so she is in place as a result of the will of the people of that area. The process and role was introduced by the Conservatives. It's called democracy mate. -
Seems unlikely.

Raab has already done the Caretaker job twice when Boris had Covid, so he is already established as the Tony Parkes of the UK Government.
