  1. I was wrong about ages. Austin was 26 win we signed him. But Pelle was about to turn 29 when we signed him.
  2. Also we signed Charlie Austin on 16th January 2016. Oh what a last minute panic panic panic.
  3. Carillo was well known by the manager at the time so clearly had been tracked and assessed. Not a great signing but disagree he was a panic. Austin, no idea what you are on about. If signing a player six months before the player he replaces even leaves now counts as a "last minute replacement" then I really can't help you. How early so we need to sign replacements to front line players according to you? Plus, Austin would have been about 25 when we signed him, about the same age as Pelle was when we signed him. And Pelle was a striker very familiar to the incumbent manager, just like Carillo was. So does Graziano Pelle fit your definition of a panic buy or one that fitted our strategy?
  4. I remember that around this time last year there was an absolutely glowing BBC profile and fawning interview with Carlos Carvahal and his working methods which had lead to a remarkable turnaround at Swansea.
  5. When Charlie Austin was the same age as Gallagher is now, Charlie was a very consistent and very effective Championship level striker - 28 goals in 40 games, 17 the season before, 20 the season after. Gallagher nowhere near that standard, nowhere near. And the likelihood he never will be, having already had plenty of opportunities at that second tier level. The notion that him being young therefore better is more lazy than your own "fear" theory you are offering up. Austin comes off the bench: goal threat. Gallagher off the bench: meh. Kid getting a run out before inevitable loan move. Also, all the info this Jan pointed to us definitely trying to sign a front line right back. I wonder why?
  6. Who has been a panic buy in the last couple of years? Caceres is the only player who comes close and we didn't buy him. I do hope it's not a "made up fact".
  7. You'll have to point out to me where I am advocating any panic buying. I can only assume that if we had announced the signing of a right back or striker last night, this morning you'd be dismissing them as a panic buy?
  8. I still think we will stay up because there are three worse than us. But feels much dicier than it does now. What I don't want to be reading here is any garbage about how unlucky we've been with injuries if we do get some. Decisions have consequences, and in January we have decided to assume we won't get injuries.
  9. I see the insular, narrow-minded protectionist EU with its hatred of trade with the wider world is at it again today. If only these Eurocrat idiots realised that there is a whole wide world out there beyond just caring about Spanish orange growers. When we're free of this dictatorship we could, like, do trade deals with Japan and stuff.

    And here we are.

    Cedric/Maehle

That's because he is great at penalties.
  12. Well, we didn't buy anyone. Rubbish.
  13. Well, we didn't buy anyone rubbish.
  14. Just wait until the end of the summer window then you'll all be happy ;-)
  15. Oh shut up.
  16. Very good point.
  17. We're signing someone. The Twitter account person still at work tweeting pointless training ground pics.
  18. I actually still think we are going to sign someone.
  19. All young players turn into Harry Kane.
  20. Not really. He's still better than all the right backs at the club now. That's all people are saying. You could also make a similar claim about Valery who is being hyped to the rafters far more than people saying Cedric is "amazing".
  21. I'm not worried because an ITK person told us to wait until the end of the window and did a smiley winky face so no worries we are definitely signing loads of players.
  22. I think the main thing to remember is he is definitely not deadwood like that Portuguese full back we shipped out to a footballing backwater.
  23. I think it's brilliant that we are now only using players that definitely aren't deadwood like Moi Elyounoussi.
  24. My stream went in the first half too, and I can safely say she is the absolute worst commentator I have ever seen. Useless. When we scored it took forever to work out we had equalised (rather than be two down) and she never managed to name the scorer. She seemed to not know the names of any players, or describe any action. Used odd training-ground speak like "the red zone" instead of actually saying what was happening. Completely forgot that the rest of us can't see her screen. I can't imagine she'll be back on Sky again.
