  1. In fairness there's been plenty of opportunity for Fonte to talk about his commitment to SFC before he went away. It's all done now and he's stuck with us for at least another season (probably for a while longer as the moment has passed for him now). He needs to get on with being any good for us on the pitch starting next week.
  2. Unless Osman is involved, I'm out.
  3. The chairman's explanation does read like one of MLG's more extreme apologist routines. I can almost see him saying exactly that kind of thing. We can't sign a new defensive midfielder because it would upset Romeu.
  4. If we do actually sell 5,000 pre general sale, then I am sure there will be plenty of Saints fans in the neutral area. Still don't really understand why Milan don't offer a bigger allocation- the ground will be nowhere near full and we will get in anyway.
  5. Jesus Christ. Let's take a moment to appreciate maybe we ain't so terribly run after all.
  6. Err, no. VVD will definitely be gone next summer, Fonte will get the Lambert send-off, and Forster will go but only if a big club comes in to make him first choice.
  7. "It's not for me to name names". Which is a fair enough answer. I am delighted with Hojberg but I don't know him from adam and wouldn't have suggested him in a million years. Ditto Mane, Toby, Tadic, Gaston etc. Most signings we've made that I have been delighted with I'd never heard of. My disappointment is driven by a lack of improvements defensively (CB/DM) and possibly upfront (striker) but don't ask me to name names. Quite comfortable not having a clue.
  8. Did they even buy a centre back today/this week?
  9. There is a nice post script to the Sissoko to Spurs story in that there are quotes from last year of him describing Arsenal as "the team of my heart" and drooling over Henry and Petit and Vieira and Steve Morrow*. All over Twitter now of course. It's a story that keeps on giving. *He might not have mentioned Steve Morrow. It might have been Chris Kiwomya.
  10. It's not really an achievement. Hardly some brave, audacious coup out of the blue. Wenger basically begging someone to take the boy off him like a Premier League Mr Bumble. Bournemouth picked him up like a salmon roll in Yo! Sushi. Off the peg ready-to-sign player trundling along the deadline day conveyor belt. And, he could turn out to be sh it.
  11. With the managerial appointment and this window, it does feel at this point that we have pi ssed away our elevated status that came through our top six finish. Not sure our stock would ever be higher and I genuinely thought we might try and build our best ever squad. I don't think we've done that. I dont believe we have a stronger squad for the heavy schedule ahead and the manager clearly has some work to do. Let's hope Hojberg and Boufal turn out to be a couple of gems and those that were new this time last year - Cedric, Clasie, Romeu - step up now. We march on.
  12. What's been achieved?
  13. Fonte definitely sold: asset stripping.
  14. I think he meant Sibley, not you.
  15. I wish we were Palace.
  16. Not much. The fact that their first choice keeper is someone we drafted in as cover last year tells you all you need to know. All mouth.
  17. What keeps me going is the fact we announced Guly the lunchtime the day after deadline day closed. I think it was Guly anyway.
  18. Suggests he's going to end up somewhere new today with all that agent noise about.
  19. Oh well. There's always a 48-pack of Ferrero Rocher there to keep your spirits up.
  20. I can't imagine we'll be signing any more than eight or nine players tomorrow but happy to be proven wrong.
  21. Okay, I've looked at Haller's Wikipedia and am prepared to approve this signing. Hoping for someone else - defensive cover, an Toby figure who can play CB and defensive mid. But maybe too much to ask. Come on Les you massive di ck.
  22. I believe that is known as sovereignty or something.
  23. It wasn't superior insight. It was obvious.

    Puel

No. He wanted to go, we didn't sell him against his will.
