He did set up the Academy. And he made some excellent appointments (Prost, Elias, Jennings) to head up that academy, which were the strong foundations for what we have now. He deserves a lot of credit for that. And please don't reply with a list of players like Channon, Wallace and Le Tiss. We know.

Also I think I remember one person once might have mentioned Suarez at Liverpool and Everton holding on to their young players as examples that any club with an ounce of sense can fend off bids and interest from other clubs. I mean it's prety easy to do this and just goes to show how useless our board is.
