  1. Presumably he wanted to retire at Liverpool in 18 months time. Now looking like he might not get the chance. I can see him on loan somewhere but not to us: he's gone home so would think he'd stay North-West so Wigan, Bolton or Blackburn, something like that. Or maybe Stoke, if the opportunity came up.
  2. Indeed. Would be truly amazing if they came up. And the Championship is such a brilliant division - how many teams have been top already? I think about four could have finished on top after tonight's games alone. Great stuff.
  3. I had a moment too. Lovely stuff.
  4. How is he bankrupt?!
  5. Saying we should blow thirty mil on one player is not "dreaming for the stars".
  6. In fairness the OP said we should sign a World Cup striker for £30m. What you are saying is not in that spirit at all and more like something we would conceivably di. Letting Cork go and bringing in Claisie for £10m odd is a possibility. Maybe another striker but depends if JR is fit and minded to stay. Smashing records for fees - twenty/thirty mil is not a possibility.
  7. I had that feeling ahead of Hull but after that performance - defensively rock solid - now, like you I honestly can't see us dropping points at the moment. It's not arrogance anymore to say we should get 6 points from our next two games. There just isn't any reason it wouldn't happen, injuries permitting. At the moment we have transcended all the usual "typical Saints" nonsense we all were all grudgingly comfortable with. On Saturday we are much better than LCFC and we will win.
  8. The OP has already explained this on this thread. When he says "go for broke" he didn't really mean "go" for "broke". He meant something else. About spending more money on £30m players or something. And gambling. Which to me, still looked like go for broke.
  9. Final wasn't it? And Fulham under Hodgson. And Middlesborough under McClaren. Sounds like a realistic aim to me. Win the Europa League would be an amazing achievement.
  10. You do realise on this forum the other day you predicted us to lose all our forthcoming games against the big boys (including Everton) and for us to only achieve 9 points from the next 10 games (this was last week so included Hull) which in itself is relegation form but in our case would get to a points per game rate after 20-odd games that would land us at about 8th across a full season. So one of the forums predicting us "fading away" is this one. And one of the people predicting it is, well, you.
  11. ...
  12. Forget it.
  13. You need to post this kind of comment every week now. It really did the trick v Hull. Thanks for being a lucky charm.

Is there a link to the 'simply not true' thing you are so upset about. Because I bet what was actually said was Chelsea's gap on City which, like it or not, simply is true. Secondly, if Man U were in second place, four points behind the leader, then obviously they would be title contenders. This is getting ridiculous.

You do realise we are getting loads and loads of coverage and plaudits don't you? For the last two weeks on MOTD, Saints have had five/six/whatever minutes worth of analysis and our opponents (Hull and Stoke) have had a single sentence mention at the end. Both opponents totally ignored, the kind of thing people go mental about on here when it happens to us. As for "Embarrassed pundits", well Robbie Savage has been praising us and happily admitting how wrong he was. As have loads of other journalists and pundits. Pretty much all of them say stuff about how brilliant it would be if we broke the top four. Patrick Barclay said that today (while, again, admitting he was wrong too). The only place this scenario of "the media can't wait for us to fail" eminates from is the chip-on-the-shoulder paranoid imagination from over sensitive Saints fans. It is not happening.
  17. No Saints fan, on the back of the same p iss weak run that Spurs have been on, would have said that, even the most mental optimists.

I just watched footage of Neil Armstrong doing that first walk on Everest and realised the error of my ways. Shoot for the four minute mile and even if you fail you might do it in three.

Our manager doesn't see us as title contenders so why the eff should anyone else? Also, we're not title contenders.
  20. It happened. Three or four nice young men in front of me tried to get it going. It didn't get going. But they tried. CB Fry salutes you.
  21. And Adkins was to Pardew, and (not difficult) Pardew was to Wotte. We have had an astonishing run of good managers.
