Whatchu' talkin' 'bout, Willis?
-
I think they did - there definitely were mock up shirts of those designs. Presumably The9 spends hours on Ebay desperately hunting them out.
-
...and some people get stuff plain wrong. We have been consulted in the past - there used to be votes in the Echo. Once we could have voted for a Monaco style kit in honour of Hoddle. Luckily it didn't win as Glenda left before the season was out.
-
I would like to say that the kit Saints wear in any given season is more important to me than my family.
-
Pretty stupid thing to say on 2nd July really. Most of our signings are going to happen in August.
-
Lets see if Poch can emulate what Schteve achieved at Boro before we completely write him off as a manager. If MP's Saints win a trophy, finish seventh and get to the Europa final, it will be spoken of on here as the greatest ever achievement in football. Guarantee no one, certainly not you, would describe that as "useless".
-
.....ever so slightly motivated by the fact we were skint. (Morgan turned out okay, though).
-
That was the ones with the Denmark kit. They were small. The ones with the sevond Hummel kit were quite a long way further along the "bloomers" end of the scale.
-
I'm not struggling, brand new person on the forum. You know my motto. It takes diff'rent strokes to move the world. Yes it does.
-
Either you accept Dyson hand dryers or we might as well just have Lowe back. Or Michael Wilde. Or something. Happy now?
-
That kit was proper poo, though. A trillion times better than our current abortion, of course.
-
Err. I think the whole point of the non stripes debate is people like you pretending striped shirts from the past weren't stripes when they clearly were. Keep trying Brett.
-
Solent Green. That was another birthday present. Loved it. Hummel 89 stripes were great, and the best shorts we ever had too.
-
Got to say, I still love it. Brilliant.
-
Loved the original Hummel Denmark kit. Didn't get released until August, so had to wait to get it for my birthday. 12th birthday I think. Great days. And that is what is known as a genuine childhood memory, as opposed to a made up one specially fabricated with added 2013 opinions to make some lame-ass point.
-
Of course. You had to be talked to about us wearing stripes. I think there was a formal course plus exam in schools in Southampton. You must have missed out. Our kit heritage not the kind of thing you just pick up as a part of being a fan, like the kits of lower division teams (teams who entirely by coincedence are in the Premier League now). It's all good.
-
No short fuse. Just laughing at a load of made up false memories ro make a rather weak point. I tell you we talked of little else except Stoke and Sunderland in Bellemoor in 1989. Pored over the middle of the division 2 table we did.
-
It's a laughable article. Remarkable knowledge of Stoke and Sunderland's striped kits despite us barely ever playing them but no idea whatsover that his own team played in stripes. And oh how woeful that striped team that beat Liverpool 4-1 and finished 7th was. Oh I hated those days at school. Disingenous nonsense. Hats off for the brassneck of it.
-
How about the argument that our shirt colour plays no role whatsoever in our global profile. None at all.
-
The majority of clubs in the top tier of all European leagues are changing their fundemental kit design to raise their global appeal? You sure about that?
-
Hey, I can't help it. I'm a dreamer. I mean. Promotion to the Premier League? For tiny little Southampton? The stuff of fantasy. Promotion to the top flight I know was the preserve of the mega clubs, the giants of football like Watford, Blackpool, Reading, Norwich, Hull and Swansea. Even dreaming we could ever emulate them was just silly. But I couldn't help believing. The impossible is real. I mean, fourteenth as well. Phew.
-
I'd never thought I'd live to see Saints finish fourteenth in the Premier League. That was the kind of of success I could only dream of for the last thirty years. A silly dream, really. Impossible even. Thank you Nicola. Our Dream is real.
-
TDD you've had one opinion about this kit. Exactly the same as last year's opinion. Hasn't stopped you posting it something a little more than twice. Do remind us of it again tomorrow, sweetheart.
-
And it maintains your reputation as a poster of fine insight. Jolly well done.
