You have heard the Star Trek speech?
-
I think the quality of the rumour should be judged on fruit. And the quality/wealth of the bidder should be judged on the animal kingdom. So Paul Allen would be a Fig Wilderbeest. Matt Le Tissier would be a Watermelon Lemur. Dave Merrington would be the dreaded Double Kiwi. No hope and no money either.

Lots of skeletons coming out of the cupboard now..
CB Fry replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Errr - no they weren't, they all bought by George Burley who had been the manager for the previous season and a half, meaning about as far away from "managerial turmoil" as you could have got. And they were all bought in the same close season as well, so not at "different times" and not by "different managers". So it was actually exactly the same as the Strachan situation, just a division below. -
This is a quite bizarre post. Who hates us? We've had more laments about our downfall in the national media than I can remember for any other comparable club.
-
Bit early for that. What is true is that Joe Royle did a better job than Magilton with no additional resources and Magilton did appallingly this season. He had the magic ingredient everyone drones on about - time - and he had pots of cash last summer. And got nowhere. Not sure I'd want Jim at Saints - below average in the CCC does not equate to "really good in L1". Chances are he'd be below average again.

We don't agree on much, but christ we agree on this. In fact I agree with everyone that has heard of this lunatic (apart from Bazza the briefcase) because we all agree - NO NO NO NO NO NO PLEASE GOD NO.

You what? Go and research the job he did on Bournemouth including his interview broadcast on Meridian. Delusional, arrogant, clueless, lying, fantastist run out of town by AFCB and its fans. ie real events caused by real people, affecting real people, at a real business (AFCB) in real time in a real place. Not an internet forum in sight. That is enough for people to say this man should not be let anywhere near our club. To dismiss it all as cyber bullying is just laughable, and reminds me of Longlifemilk/Jackson's (and others) most favourite refrain - "the attitude of people on this forum has stopped a multimillion pound take over, honest it has, it's all your fault"
-
I knew there would be a conspiracy reply to my post. Thanks for being so prompt.
-
Well he was a Lowe defender, for sure, but the point also missed by many who scream "Lowe never ever wanted to sell up" was Jackson was tasked with selling Lowe and co's shares. That's what he was touting about to all and sundry. And that's what turned him into the ranting delusional ego maniacal clueless ****flap we all loved to hate on these forums. Jackson that is. Not Lowe. Actually, Lowe as well.

Someone put the manifesto up. It was brilliant, especially all the bits with no capital letters or the rong spelings.
-
Get ready for someone to call you a cretin for suggesting such a thing.

But Hansen and Gray are A-list (ie the best paid and most highly valued commentators in the industry) so their "expertise" must be at the kind of level that..... oh forget it. You're clearly off your head.
-
I look forward to Alan Hansen and Andy Gray leading a team to the Champions League title any year now.

First run of the Echo prints overnight so the decision of what to run I am sure would already have been taken, probably written in the usual evening paper phraseology of "it is expected that this will have happened". If Um's source is the Echo sports or newsdesk then we're off and running! Good old "tomorrow" :smt041

Sorry, that is outrageous. What exactly is Matt's considerable expertise relevent to being the club manager and when has he demonstrated it? And yes, in the running of Southampton Football Club I want Matthew Le Tissier to have as little power as possible. With a manager selecting, coaching, managing and developing the playing squad free of interference. And a chief exec running the club on a budget relative to the income we generate. But do I want MLT involved? Yes, yes, yes. As manager? No, no, no. That is called "sense" sunshine.
-
He doesn't have "considerable footballing expertise". David Moyes does. MLT was simply the greatest player in our history. And no one, absolutely no one on earth, wants Matthew Le Tissier to "run" Southampton "as a business". Most of us just want him on the board, and being around. Figurehead, inspiration, hero.
-
He has got "no knowledge whatsoever" of managing anything football related, ever. He has been running businesses, including his now closed nightclub and other ventures, since the nineties. So he actually has more business knowledge than applicable football knowledge.
-
What the hell are you on about?
-
Sorry it was "as normal". Brum were yo-yoing between the divisions, as were Reading. Neither were anything like as used to Premier League status as we were. It was normal because Leeds, Cov, Sheff Weds, Forest and lots of others have suffered similarly and most, like us, haven't managed to scrape back yet. For example, I back West Brom to be in better shape to come straight back up than Middlesbrough who have a big shock coming. Don't kid yourself that Southampton Football Club have some monopoly on mismanagment. Tell that to a Sheffield Wednesday fan, or a Forest fan, or a Derby fan, or a Leicester fan. Don't disagree with your other points though.

No surprise Alpine swallows it whole.

Glenn Hoddle has never won over any dressing rooms. That's why he is one of the most disliked figures in English football, with a queue of players forty miles long with a grudge against him. And not, before you even think it, in a "he demands the best" Alex Ferguson way. Very much in a "he is an arrogant jumped up **** with no people skills whatsoever" kind of way.
-
Shush. We must wait for the "serious study" to start before any of us, except Dalekio is allowed to comment. Diamond Lights . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . .
-
When is this "analysis" going to start then? You've been going on about this for five years and you are wrong. Shut up about it because you haven't said anything new for five years.
