  1. Despite their adverts, all rail ticket websites charge the same prices, except for the small booking fees etc. It is extremely unusual for prices to be different between any websites - they are all identical 99.9% of the time. What may have happened is that the discount for buying early may have changed on the system while you were actually loggged on (this is just unlucky on timing), and the national rail site was just slow in processing the change. It is rare and should not happen - it should be simultaneous. Bore fest over, sorry
  2. Take the point about spending £1m in L1. It was, and remains, a huge sum. But the relevant point for the OP is that we paid £1m for a player who is first choice and performing highly in the Premier League. Thats cheap by anyone's measure
  3. Will be in Never never land
  4. No. That was their second point. Their first was that, by his touch and movement during the Anfield match, it was clear that he is an excellent player. I cant claim to have heard any other Radio 5 commentaries on Saints but I am not aware of anyone saying the same about Ramirez
  5. This. I listened to the Five Live coverage when we were at Anfield and the (no Saints bias) commentators were very impressed with him. "You can clearly see he is a top quality player, at times he is cut above the rest of this (good) Southampton team".
  6. The number leaving early is going up because of...the number leaving early. I heard a guy say last weekend that he might leave on 80 mins, because of all those who leave on 85. Pretty soon the rush for half time beers will be swelled by the leavers
  7. Baz scraping the barrel of things to moan about. Jeez.
  8. Guly gets a game now. just saying
  9. Until (if) we ever get to a point where we have a wide choice of high quality, relevant, songs which a good proportion of supporters are happy to join in with (yeah right, we wish), then almost anything will do to get the atmosphere going. As posted by others, on Sat the atmosphere was better than its been in a long time and thats a good thing
  10. Pitch sizes have to be within 100-130 yards long and (amazingly) 50 - 100 yards wide. Last season we had the 3rd largest pitch in the league after City and Utd
  11. Assumes teams who have been very different to last year, up to now (eg Saints, Man U etc) will revert to performing identically to last season starting from today. Hard to forecast without a crystal ball but this is meaningless
  12. To that add "Red Army! Red Army!". We are a football team not an army. Someone must be aiming to strike off all these inaccurate songs / chants surely?
  13. As posted elsewhere, it was an excellent atmosphere yesterday and if this song plays it part in getting the silent majority to join in, then thats fine with me
  14. Atmosphere was excellent today too - for a change, it was like that right from the start. Set the tone
  15. Central Bournemouth? Hen and stag fest so I hope not, though perhaps its less popular in winter
  16. Neil Shipperley at Old Trafford - FA Cup 6th round 1996. We had about 6,000 there and Shipps headed in the first goal, right in front of us, at the far post. Mad scenes, ended up on the floor about 4 rows down. Was still working out which way was up, to find play had long restarted as it had been disallowed. Shocking decision. From 1:30:
  17. Was in an almost deserted pub in Aylesbury for that one. Barman was wearing a hammers shirt. Had money on Beattie and 1-0 too. Can honestly say I have not celebrated so much in a pub before or since. Think i tried to climb over the bar to get in the face of the guy...
  18. Very good, but a little way to go to match Ozil spitting out his tiny chewing gum pre match and playing multiple touch keepy uppy with it
  19. I watched it again this morning before heading to work. Partly because I woke up thinking I may have dreamt it.
  20. only your 10th post but its a golden one sir
  21. Would love to dream on that, but then again, he would not fit the pressing/very high workrate/fitness off the charts model sadly.
  22. Norwich away 1994 when Kenny M made it 5-4 in injury time, having never had the lead during the game. Must win game does not do it justice
  23. Very good analysis. A little over the top occasionally ("pinpoint long range passes" from Lovren and Fonte) but I can forgive that, given how accurate most of the piece is.
  24. I loved how the exciting, fun, new title of this campaign had nothing other than a single link to the identical stuff on the OS. No extra incentive, promotion, discount. Wow. Hence i stopped reading
