  1. Didn't want to hijack TGs thread, so I'll put this gorgeous Citroen here: This one wouldn't look out of place with a few modern extras. Unbelievably, this is from 1972. Mind you, nearly all Citroens looked 30+ years ahead of their time back then.
  2. How far back are you suggesting TG..? I mean, the Model T Ford is a bit odd looking now, but that's ancient history. Don't want to hijack the thread, but I think it's easier to think of quite elderly cars that don't look dated. This one wouldn't look out of place with a few modern extras. Unbelievably, this is from 1972. Mind you, nearly all Citroens looked 30 years ahead of their time back then. Tell you what, I'll pop this on a new thread.
  3. What did you get..? My travellers IQ is supposedly 101, whatever that means..? 1 point above average..?
  4. That's a toughie. If it were for sheer bloody mindedness and determination, it would be Michael Svensson hands down. He's played bloody well too. Even though McGoldrick has scored 3 from 5, he's missed quite a few too, so I can't include him, although, like everyone in the side, he has done well. Gillet and Schneiderlin have been excellent. Can't quite believe Schneiderlin is only 18, Gillet has been trademark tigerish. Lallana has been a bit of a revelation. I think we've all seen the little cameo on Youtube now, and it only serves to wet the appetite. His quick feet and change of pace and movement on the ball are reminicent of a young Matt Le Tiss. and in all honesty, is there higher praise I can give the lad..? In a season or two, he'll be doing it in the Premiership, that's for certain, and hopefully [and why not..?] with Saints. Then I'd love to see him make a few highly rated defenders look foolish, in the MLT tradition. Just lay off the burgers lad and you'll have the career Matty didn't. Adam Lallana for me. Lee Holmes would be a dark horse though.
  5. No, it did on mine too. Just a bit of sound-on-vision on the camera, I would guess. With a properly maintained system that shouldn't happen unless hugely provoked by vibration. I would have thought St Marys wouldn't suffer from that as it is fairly solid concrete. Then again, concrete can transmit vibration too. Perhaps it was a cheaper camera mount..? As to the football fan element. I wasn't exactly looking for comment in my original post. Yes, of course I realise that not everybody is like me, and that some people are actually interested in how other teams do. Personally, I can't be bothered to waste my time on other teams. They are just there to give Saints something to compete against, as far as I'm concerned. And I still hold to the view that TV companies would better their service by supplying us with TV that we are most likely to watch. So for the Lower Test Valley region that would almost certainly be Saints/Pompey/Cherries on a regular basis. I mean, what would you rather have..? Your own team on TV or Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, ManU..? It's not a difficult concept surely..?
  6. Even considering that your work has a box there, I don't understand this reasoning. The chances are that Saints would lose, and you wouldn't enjoy it. Or would you be hoping for the spectacular, once in a blue moon, Arsenal screw-up..?
  7. You mean to say you did want to watch it TDD..? But you're a Saints fan. Where's the interest for you..?
  8. Yes I well remember that too. But aside from all the points-scoring and yahbooing, and my-opinion-is-better-founded-and-reasoned-than-yours, cannot we just let things lie now and wait what happens. Let's put the knives away, at least for a few weeks, and start enjoying what might turn out to be a very good season. I know it'll make the forum terribly boring for some because we won't have people taking their ringside corners, but we might be able to share some common ground for a while. Hey, how about giving it a go..? Let's finish it and finally move on in unity..!
  9. Blimey, the return of the bodice. She looks as she's about to burst.
  10. I wasn't aware of that. That's very sad. I'll have to find out what actually happened rather than relying on hearsay or SSN.
  11. Good. Was thinking of having a look. Cheers. EDIT: That's better.
  12. Wouldn't wish a car crash on anybody, but I like the fact that it's all mendable. Best wishes Mick. And Jack the lad.
  13. There is certainly one major difference I feel about this team over anything last season. Last season there were times when I was aware that saturday or a match day was looming, and instead of looking forward to it, I was absolutely dreading it. This season, the moment the Lads come off the pitch, I want them to be playing the next match. Now if that isn't a looking-forward-to-the-next-game/can't-wait attitude, I don't know what is.
  14. I know the one you're on about. Type Geography games or The geography game into Google and you should eventually find it.
  15. Was just off to bed and now I'm wide awake again after going round the house resetting things like the oven clock and microwave clock. Also finished substituting a 12V transformer for my router after the old one didn't want to restart after a power cut in Lordswood. The entire area was blacked out. It was rather ooer and spooky until I got my sh!t together. Anyone else affected..?
  16. Yes they are green shoots, but let's not go overboard. Remember it's only one league win in three, however impressive the play. Some tethers round ankles are required, I feel. After ten league games we'll have a far more rounded idea of what this most potentially exciting season holds.
  17. You're not quite getting the swing of this at all, are you.
  18. I have to acknowledge you've done your homework, mate. I assumed [should never do it, normally I check if I'm not sure] that the attendance receipts would be the same as for League matches. I still hold to the opinion that there is very little point in having big, powerful opposition at an away fixture. Pointless. We almost might as well declare ourselves out of the competition unless we have a go at winning it, and the best chance of that is playing at home, against the weakest opposition the draw can give us. That gives us the best chance of making money too. Eventually, the latter stages of the competition itself will generate the bigger attendances. Of course people may be of the opinion that a big payday at OT or the Emirates might be worth the one match, and it means Saints could concetrate on their league form. But for me it does two things. 1] It gives exposure of our young gifted players on a big stage, and 2] It almost certainly stops any winning run that may have built up. Once a winning run starts, it can build up a head of steam. It happens, due to confidence building, and any professional will tell you it's worth points to league form too. So I'd like Saints to stay in the competition for as long as possible.
  19. This is the man. He's a retired BBC presenter of news and travel programmes. He was one of the main faces on tv in the late 50s and 60-70s. Though le god knows why he's the title of this thread. Maybe it's the travel/holiday connection. Bit tenuous though. Still lives on the IOW, I believe.
  20. So CF didn't delete it then..? I take back the decency gesture then.
  21. Patience, Ponty..!
  22. That's the limit for me, CF. You've doctored a photo from the Vietnam war which shows a young girl with Napalm burns all over her body. All her clothes were burned away. I know this is TMS, but couldn't you be slightly more sensitive about these things..? I would ask you to remove your post, then I'll delete this.... EDIT: Thank you. Good to see you have some measure of decency.
  23. Yes it does, and I've been using it recently. Realplayer 11 Gold is the one. The basic free version is all you need so you don't have to have all the baggage that Real.com want to foist on you. You can save to any folder you like, although Real do create one for you in Shared Videos, called Realplayer Downloads. Funnily, the download manager looks a little like the Firefox one.
  24. Sadly, footballers aren't blessed with logical brains. They have bright lights and media induced starry-eyed dreams. Mills and Cranie come to mind. Even Oakley, if you can believe it..!
  25. Excellent news..! http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/aug/27/bbc.digitalmedia?gusrc=rss&feed=uknews
