  1. The little shop with the slate floor..? Sadly, it closed a few years back. Superb pasties from there.
  2. An Olympic event that lasts as long as a feature film. Although not a feature film, I decided to get my DVDs out of From The Earth To The Moon. An excellent 12 part hourly drama-documentary with feature film production values. Excellently acted, and a superb reminder of the greatest technological achievement ever by mankind.
  3. Have to say that I wouldn't have stood for that. I would have demanded the carrier convey me to Derby, and back, or to refund my train tickets and match tickets. You can't let them get away with it. Hope you have some proof of cancellation with no notice.
  4. I know, and I'm 100% sure you understand Delmary. It's just probably a good idea to keep the news of what we hear as accurate as possible to stop some people going off like fireworks, imagining millions of pounds are just days or weeks away. We could be an entire season or two away from any investment, let alone a takeover.
  5. Had a really good clear out under the stairs late this afternoon. Fished out an old bit of the ECHO newspaper that was obvoiusly being kept for some obscure reason at the time. It had headlines about Nicholl dropping Le Tissier, but in the corner was a little report about Hampshire opener Paul Terry being left out of the side because of poor form. How about that for coincidence..? BTW, it was 1989 vintage. Because of this thread I've not thrown it away.
  6. No you didn't quite hear that. You heard David Armstrong say that good progress was being made in that direction, but obviously no details could be revealed. That doesn't mean close, it means things are progressing. Frankly, I can wait now. I've grown patient after so many false dawns.
  7. Having listened in and now considered, the difference between Saints of today and Saints of a year ago can be heard in the commentary, and it has nothing to do with Will Cope's bias for Saints. Last season I was able to go to several games but all I saw were players using plenty of energy with no idea, no cohesion, no movement and no structure. And it sounded like it when I used to listen in at other times too. Other people would say there was no passion. Not true, there was plenty, but it was all undirected or misdirected. They simply hadn't a clue what to do at times. I used to cry out for some movement from the players, but all they did was hide. No wonder Viafara used to get annoyed with his teammates. He couldn't find them with an easy pass, let alone one which would have to get through several defenders first. This season, from the word GO, there has been a change. The passing and movement has been crisp and fast, and sometimes Will can't Cope. And David Armstrong doesn't lie. The fast passing he's pointing out to listeners is obviously delighting him so much, and he's said several times that it's been a pleasure to watch the youngsters even when they've lost. I'll look forward to seeing the highlights on Saints TV later. Hope to get down to St Marys a few times myself as well.
  8. Listened in. Extremely good performance. Another goal from McGoldrick. With the chances we had, 0-1 did not reflect the match. Derby County are mirroring Saints after our own relegation. They will find that 2 seasons of parachute payments go very quickly.
  9. Yahoo..! Poortvliet is getting it right.
  10. I won't delete your post, but the topic is: Film - The 11th Hour. Let's keep to it please.
  11. Humour with a science/technology slant. I like it..! Best of luck today Lads.
  12. Haven't seen it, but I suspect it travels down a road I'm [and many others are] already on, and have been for many years. I know it's aimed at an hugely ignorant audience. Hopefully, it won't be too patronising to people with half an awareness of our massive over-consumption.
  13. I'm a kind of old fashioned sweetie myself.
  14. But there's nothing like a good old British name like Dingle Dell.
  15. Perhaps a certain Mr Poortvliet for manager..?
  16. LOL So all this Argon, CO2 and other trace gases are made of LOVE. Always said I'd like Global Warming.
  17. Then how do you work out how someone can eat a hot curry in a hot country..? It's because the long term effect is to cool you down by perspiration. I can't believe the amunt of people putting down Coke or Cola as one of their 3 drinks. What a waste. BTW, I can't decide on mine, but none of the drinks would be Coke, that's for sure. I'm leaning towards BridgeTF's Greek yoghurt with honey though. That's an excellent, non-obvious choice. I'd maybe leave out the honey though. Christ, I'd could get fat on Greek yoghurt. I've got a fair bit in the fridge right now, and it's calling out to me.
  18. Jeez, time bloody well flies quicker than the aircraft. Ive always thought 757s/767s were a product of the 90s. Now I realise I've been thinking about 777s all the time. Well it's an easy mistake to make. I haven't been an aircraft nerd for donkey's years..!
  19. If you have the sound on, there's a moment where the guy's mum says something like... aw, he doesn't look like he's enjoying it..! What do you expect..?
  20. Met Rick Wakeman in a lift in the South Hants Hospital. The lift was stuck about a foot above the floor when the doors opened. Rick helped lift my old Mum's wheelchair out onto the floor. We thanked him, and I just about stopped myself from whistling Roundabout as we walked away. A fine ordinary bloke. Tbh, I've never met a famous person who wasn't ok. Not met many though.
  21. Yes Yes No Yes Yes No
  22. £50,000 per annum. For a single bloke with no ties or responsibilities, that's fairly comfy living.
  23. Channel 5 programme..?
  24. I would change that to the most over-hyped player. Rooney is a perfectly good player, capable of very special things. But he used to play for Everton as a creative midfielder, in the hole behind the strikers, and it's his best position. I don't know why a succession of managers don't agree. I would play him at the head of a midfield diamond, and leave Lampard out completely. Now there's an overrated player. He's had far more than a chance at being good for England. If MLT had had as much of a go, he'd be a past England legend instead of a fringe player with 8 caps.
  25. Aw shucks, it was nothing really. Which TV programme was it..?
