  1. Yeah, I will give K-Pax another go, and your other recommendation. Never seen The Life and Times of David Gayle . I have a copy of K-Pax, so I might as well use it. As to whether Kevin Spacey makes the odd bad film, well yes, I think he does, but he is never poor in any of them himself. It's remarkable that he is so good at film, when he is first and foremost a stage actor.
  2. What Celtic supporters want is a return to the old times, that is the equivalent of being managed by Jock Stein and winning the Scottish Premier League and Cup every time they can be bothered to show up. Unfortunately for them, somewhere along the line, they've taken a few steps down the ladder of public notice. They may still be one of the top two clubs in Scotland, but they are no longer automatically uttered in the same sentence as ManU, Arsenal, etc... They simply do not have the presence they used to have, back in the 60's and 70's, when they could, almost certainly, rightly claim to be the best team in the UK. The times, they are a-changin'.
  3. Oh I see.

  6. I must be so bored today. Finished all my work. All the stuff I have to do is out of doors, and I'm not doing that right now. So I went to the BBC Football website and saw that St Mirren had tonked Celtic 4-0. Watching the highlights threw up several points in my mind. Firstly, that when I heard that Celtic had appointed Tony Mowbray as manager, back at the start of the season, I thought they were either broke, daft, lost whatever ambition they'd ever had, and possibly all three. Nobody is knocking Mowbray as a manager, who gets his teams to play very attractive football. But just don't think you'll actually win anything with him in charge. Next, it was curious to hear another side being referred to as Saints. What on earth does one do if Saints ever play... the Saints..? Lastly, I couldn't help but giggle when I saw a Celtic shirt had been thrown onto the pitch, obviously from a spectator. This is a person who, season after season, can reasonably expect the team to either win the League/Cup or both, get into the Champions or Europa League, and do it quite comfortably, whilst hardly ever watching the team lose. Basically, it's a bit of a comfy ride. But not this season. One season in how many..? Ever since the club was formed..? I'm not going to bother to research it, I just think it's a laughable response from a so-called football supporter who should try following a proper team. Not one that exists in a league, where there is usually barely any competition. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/8586403.stm
  7. Let's have it where it belongs, in its proper setting.
  8. Bobby [Darin]
  9. Any idea how efficient, in percentage terms..? I know that the most efficient ships 2-stroke diesel engines are over 50% thermally efficient.
  10. Yeah. It amazes me why that line isn't quoted on a regular basis. Day after day, so many people, when asked for comment, just trot out the words expected from them.
  11. Chrisobee. Speedway is a motorsport. You can have it in the motoring section.

  13. That's true. I didn't bother to mention it because... well it's Lambert. You almost expect him to do something special now. I shouldn't be so casual about it, I suppose.
  14. Up early to go sailing for this first time this year. I shan't be letting another procession get between me and my plans. In fact, they are going to have to prove it's worth watching before I tune in again. I've yawned too many times.
  15. That last one by Harlepool's Austin looked unstoppable.
  16. Star Trek - Nemesis In the last of the films that the TNG have made and, I think, ever will, they go into battle facing a clone of Picard; hence the title of Nemesis. The good points are the usual photography and special effects. But another usual is the TNG cast, who really can't seem to shift their arses anymore. Patrick Stewart is doing his stage overacting again, and the rest are as wooden as hell. Tom Hardy, the actor who plays Picard's nemesis - Shinzon, is the only one who seems to be making an effort. He's actually pretty good as the baddie, and stands out like a sore thumb amidst people who should either be getting behind the camera and staying there, or getting bit parts in Casualty and Holby City. A sci-fi adventure without much spark, IMO. At least there's nothing between me now and another watch of the latest film, edition of Star Trek, made last year.

  18. So, you're saying one song above all. In other words, if you could have only one song, ever. OK, this song is the one which I can listen to at any time and appreciate it. Other songs may hit the heights, but this one is my nomination. The Beach Boys - God Only Knows
  19. That wall-eyed condition again.
  20. Checked at the time, and carried along with the joke. Now that we all know this is nothing to do with Saints, I'll move it to General Sports, leaving a permanent link.
  21. Proper goalkeeper.
