  1. In that case the volume on the TV wasn't high enough for me. I presume you were having to listen hard..?
  2. We had a thread on here several weeks back, asking people's opinions on whether we should keep Antonio and Waigo, if we could. This was a repeat of an even earlier thread. I say again - they are both assets, and give excellent strength in-depth and options for the squad. Neither of them are same old-same old players. Both offer qualities that are unusual. Antonio offers a huge amount of strength to go with a fair amount of skill and fast pace. Papa Waigo offers a sniffer's ability to be there or thereabouts in the box. He has skill and surprisingly fast pace and strength. Both have achilles heels though. Antonio lacks vision and maturity, and Waigo is so laid back he sometimes gives himself too much to do. That said, I'd keep both in a heartbeat.
  3. I didn't hear the crowd booing Cortese. Markus came on the screen and there was a huge cheer, then Nicola, and the crowd just didn't make a noisy reaction. The SKY commentator, and especially Gary Birtles, made far more of it than has actually been said by all concerned parties, which is just typical of media these days. I notice they didn't comment positively when, at the end, Nicola gave all of the players and Pardew a warm handshake and hug, as they passed him while collecting the trophy. Of course, there's no story in that.
  4. Got back a while ago from the sailing, but managed to watch the match, while out. Great, great day for everyone connected with the club. Every time the songs from the Saints fans came through, I was so proud. The Lads looked great in the Red & White, for a change, at a final. Didn't think the paint-pot trophy would leave such a positive effect, but it's a smashing one for lower league sides, and nothing to be sniffed at. And the best side in League One came through. Even made my non-football following mate smile.
  5. Ali [2001] Can't believe this is the first time I've watched this. I recorded it off the TV a couple of years ago, and finally burned it to a DVD. Basically, it's a dramatisation of When We Were Kings and One Punch Too Many, which, if you've seen the genuine footage they use, this fills in the gaps, and makes the whole scenario just that bit more approachable and human. It's impressive, as anything about Mohammed Ali would be. But the real stand out is Will Smith, who positively lives and breathes his performance. He has Ali's voice and mannerisms almost perfect, and the rest is a mixture of pure theatre and history. Good film.
  6. I think it's the sort of thing you can tune-in the brain to, hence your overall improvement. A sort of, focus and, exercise for the grey matter.
  7. Anywhere around the south coast is fine. Places like Cap d'Agde are the closest you'll get to a seaside postcard style holiday. Over in the Provence and French Riviera region [Nice etc...] you'll need a bit of dosh. However, check out the other coast, Mèze, for example, which is a cute fishing village, and very near to surrounding nice countryside. Sète has a long beach and is nearby. I've stayed in Montagnac before, which you can see on the map I've linked, just inland. Plenty of local accommodation and markets. If you like some classic architecture to look at, this is the area. Carcassonne is just up the road, and obviously there is Avignon. Check out the bridge from the song, and try the Pont Du Gard, Pont D'Arc, and of course, driving across the new Millau Bridge. Towns like Uzes are just pretty, and Nimes has a colosseum that's in far better nick than the famous one in Rome. Try canoeing down the Ardèche River gorge too. The Pyrenees, Andorra and Spain aren't far away should you want to go in the other direction. I would make mid-April the absolute earliest time to go though. It doesn't get properly warm/hot until well into the year. But that's up to you. As you can see, I like it there.
  8. holster
  9. Understood. Brighton have actually been playing quite well for some time, without getting the results their form has deserved. Hopefully, they are not working up to a stonking performance against us.
  10. Considering we weren't playing, that wasn't a bad day for entertainment purposes either.
  11. Southend were playing with 10 men from the 64th minute. No bad effort really.
  12. Come on Gills and Southend. Hang in there. EDIT: Bollix to Brizzle.
  13. Fulltime 1-1
  14. Wycombe you beauties..!
  15. That's good. One more goal and Millwall go above Leeds, into the auto-promo position. Although Millwall look capable of getting it themselves.
  16. You missed it, ESB. I didn't put up any resistance, 'cause DSM was right. Read up the thread to spot the fallout.
  17. And that's your reasoning..? I despair.
  18. Well I wouldn't post anything like that.
  19. To which post are you referring..?
  20. Brilliant..! Earlier, I started to write a message which said, all I want is for the Gills to equalise, and I'd be satisfied with today. But I didn't post it. And I still haven't written that, and you haven't read it.
  21. 10 minutes ago it was pretty good. Then it went utter poo.
  22. Well done.
