I'll see if I can find the time to translate the whole article tonight - the above excerpts were done rather quickly and might not be good enough for closer scrutiny ;-)

"Jacob Friis-Hansen (who stepped down as Liverpool scout in January 2011)"
-
Apologies if this has been posted already - I skimmed the thread titles and couldn't see anything similar... According to this Danish footy website, Jacob Friis-Hansen (who stepped down as Liverpool scout in January 2011) is the new Director of European Recruitment at SFC: http://www.bold.dk/nyt/Friis-Hansen-skal-hjaelpe-Saints-i-PrL My translation: Friis-Hansen to help Saints reach the PrL The former national team player Jakob Friis-Hansen has been appointed as Director of the European Recruitment in Southampton, a club with great traditions, which he will try to help reach the Premier League already next season. The former national team player Jakob Friis-Hansen quit as scout of Liverpool in January but has now found a new and exciting job in Southampton, a club with great traditions, who recently ensured automatic promotion from League One to the Championship. Friis-Hansen has been appointed as Director of the European Recruitment with immediate effect. - It's a newly created job function that hasn't been used in the club for some seasons now. I will be a kind of director of football on the European market. This means, I will be responsible for finding players and starting a scouting department with full-time and part-time employees. It's an incredibly exciting job and I am looking forward to get going, Friis-Hansen tells bold.dk After 27 years in the finest league in England, Southampton were relegated in 2005 and subsequently took a slide down in the third best league in a period marked by great financial troubles. But both League One and financial troubles are in the past now, and Friis-Hansen will be under great pressure from day one. - The Club has a clear ambition of getting directly to the Premier League, so we need to find five or six quality players over the summer. I will probably need to find three players that in theory are good enough for the Premier League, but have the mentality to play in the Championship in one or maximally two seasons, which is the time frame for promotion", says Friis-Hansen. On the surface, this could sound like an overly ambitious target, but the club has the means and the facilities to make these dreams come true. - The club is owned by the Swiss Liebherr family. They are incredibly rich and are aware that it will cost money. On short terms the goal is Premier League, but on the longer term they also want to play in the Champions League and be part of the top clubs in England. With their fortune backing them up the club is about the fifth richest club in England, so it is realistic - just look at Norwich who did it this year without the financial strength we have. - Furthermore the club has an academy on line with the very best in England. They have developed players like Theo Walcott and Gareth Bale, which tells a lot about the quality. And there is a willingness to expand the academy, the facilities and the stadium if necessary. The Southampton team is already very talented featuring players like Adam Lallana, Morgan Schneiderlin and not least teenager Alex Chamberlain. However, the latter Friis-Hansen expects to be sold for a hefty sum to a larger club within long.

Video celebrating Saints' promotion from League One

Thanks, Baj - MUCH appreciated!!!

Seeing highlights from this season it really is striking how many of our goals are set up by Lambert. He's calm and confident, has excellent technique and is able to read the game well. When he creates space for himself, he is backed up by a lot of runs from our offensive players and usually he makes some telling passes. I know the comparison is wrong on many levels, but there is a touch of MLT to the Lambert we're seeing this season - not the most mobile player, but an important part of our offense that the opposition has to prepare well for... and he is still our top scorer! ;-)

We're the Denmark over here...
-
Yessssss - COYR!!! :-D
-
We picked up an important point in an away game. Everyone will be suicidal because we threw away a lead, though...

Before the game I'd have thought that a draw was no disaster, but now we really need a win to soften the blow of losing Lallana and Chamberlain

Adkins now averages 2 points/game in League One. Great win, job well done. At the end of the 1st half, I felt we let them into the game, but in the 2nd half we took better control of the game. We're still not scoring goals for fun a la Peterboro, but we have a solid, patient team, that will keep working their socks off for 90 minutes. I think I heard the commentators note that as well: that if we kept the same amount of possession in the 2nd half as in the 1st, we'd surely create some good chances... Kelvin looked good on a few occasions coming out to claim crosses. Lamberts ball control was excellent for the early episode that lead to a booking to their centre back. League table gets increasingly interesting every week. Bournemouth collapsing, Huddersfield dropping points here and there... PS. If you need a reminder of how things could have been (and more often than not have been in the last 6-7 years) just skim through this utterly depressing thread: http://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=148019&st=0 ... I really do feel for those fans, 'cause their team is truly shambolic and they know it...

GREAT win! Massive!

Great start to the game but we (and they?) seemed to lose all momentum towards the half time. We do seem to have an extra gear for our second half, and after the break we tore them apart - so all in all a job well done! The top of the table looks very, very interesting once the games in hand are converted into points...

I have added a column for Adkins results disregarding the 2W/1D/5L-record he inherited... Total - FL1+JPT+FACP+LGCP (last season/this season/Adkins) Played 59 40 32 Wins 34 21 19 Draws 14 7 6 Losses 11 12 7 F 112 69 62 A 65 35 26 Pts/g 1,97 1,75 1,97 F/g 1,90 1,73 1,94 A/g 1,10 0,88 0,81 FL1 (last season/this season/Adkins) Played 46 33 28 Wins 23 17 16 Draws 14 7 6 Losses 9 9 6 F 85 59 54 A 47 29 24 Pts/g 1,80 1,76 1,93 F/g 1,85 1,79 1,93 A/g 1,02 0,88 0,86 Key points for me are all in the FL1-stats: Adkins is very close to two points per game We also very nearly average two goals per game which is an improvement Statistically we have a really solid defense We seem a bit more shaky and inconsistent than the stats signal - huge victories (Oldham etc.) and clueless defeats...

I didn't pay attention to the message, but I did hear the words "alpine saint" at the end - good fun

Listening from Denmark... slightly less exotic than other fans on here tonight

Barnard! I thought he could only score with his hand in a cast, but there you go...
