  1. I'll be very surprised if he sacks Jan, even if we are relegated by the end of March. He'll blame it all on the previous regime and keep insisting that this is the only way forward. However, JP may of course fall on his sword at some point, finally admitting that he is out of his depth.
  2. I remember it well. I was behind the goal where all the goals were scored. Truely horrific defending all round from saints.
  3. The Coventry game in the mid to late eighties was the last away '0-2 then victory' I can remember. We hadn't won there for about 35 years at the time, either. The Ipswich home game early in 81/82 was 1-3 at half-time and finished 4-3 after perhaps one of the best halves of football I've seen from a Saints side. Dave Armstrong got two if I remember correctly.
  4. You and thousands of others.
  5. C Just as many of us expected
  6. So, we're going to be fine without any proper defenders? Some of the comments/optimism on this board really does astound me!
  7. Not while Lowe is in charge.
  8. Exactly! As I've said many times, we are where we are primarily because of shockingly bad footballing decisions taken by Lowe and the clearly-out-of-his-depth JP.
  9. The time to sing it was at the end of the Sheff Utd game at the end of last season - as I said at the time.
  10. The issue is, as some of us said pre-season, there is no chance of this with Lowe in charge.
  11. 0-0. Rubbish game
  12. My thoughts as well. Getting rid of a manager who was popular with the majority of the fans and replacing him with yet another (largely unknown) "yes man" has knocked a good few thousand off the gate I reckon.
  13. During that period (the first 18 minutes) I don't remember us creating one chance.
  14. If you are trying to imply (as I think you are) that Pearson is a 'long ball' merchant, you obviously weren't at the Bristol City or Sheff. Utd. games at the end of last season.
  15. Yes, but when the firemen turn up and they're the same pyromaniacs who started the fire in the first place, you realise the fire is not likely to be put out!
  16. Probably keep losing comprehensively on TV this year because we've played 3 half-decent sides who can easily take apart our dreadful tactics and the innate deficiencies in our side. Rather different to Derby (as they were when we played them), Donny and Norwich.
  17. Phil, I can see the logic in what you say. The main debt, though, is the stadium debt, secured on the main asset, the stadium. If we went into admin, how much would actually be received by the administrator for the stadium, and what would the new owner do with it? Presumably, with low gates and quite likely playing in League 1, we wouldn't be able to finance any sort of 'sale and lease back' arrangement. Could SMS be demolished and turned into flats once the property market recovers - what are the likely views of planners on this? Could it (God forbid!) be leased short-term to another major sports team in Hampshire that needs a bigger, temporary home while it builds a new stadium? To what extent will these sort of restrictions on the use of the main asset affect what it would realise and therefore the worth of putting the club into administration in the first place?
  18. So's my brother, but he shouldn't be in charge of Saints' first team!
  19. No it's not. As I and others have said several times, we are struggling primarily because of footballing decisions taken by Lowe (appointing JP and apparently insisting that several senior pros whom we couldn't sell shouldn't be picked) and JP (selection and dreadful tactics).
  20. You obviously (and reasonably!) ignore Scooby then.
  21. A couple of wins against poor sides doesn't alter the fact that the coach is tactically inept. Even with the current limited squad, in my view we would be doing much better with a decent manager. The person who I thought was worst (other than James, who is clearly not a good enough right-back for this level) was Wotton. His first touch was poor and he doesn't seem to offfer anything in midfield. Those who've been going regularly, is he any better at centre-back? Based on what I saw against Blackpool, I can't see that Killer will improve things at the back by the way. Those saying there is no organisation there, why isn't Perry, with all his experience, organising things?
  22. This caught my attention on Sky Sports' website. I thought it odd that Rupert would be going there, but of course it is the South African bloke. I wonder what Souness would make of two of his ex-clubs being run by a 'Rupert'!?
  23. Unless he's moved very recently, JD lives in Chandler's Ford. He certainly still did 6 months ago.
  24. I think that's nonsense. Lots of balls hit hopefully into the box to no-one.
