  1. No. I'd have to wear me posh bra!
  2. Thanks for reminding me about that: i genuinely laughed out loud!
  3. Do tell me when that was. I can't be arsed to look it up, but I'd guess it was when Portsmouth was still a major naval port and we still had national service. Have you ever had higher average attendances in, let's be generous - the last 20 years?
  4. Ta for your interesting post, but in spite of it being a problem with respect to the longer-term still indicative of the relative strengths of the clubs surely (besides the fact that team B never really exploited being in the Premiership).
  5. It wouldn't be the case, would it Dubai, that club A above got better crowds in League 1 than club B got in the premiership? All relevant for the clued-in investor...
  6. I'm in agreement with this point. As for the rest I can quite see why the club don't want to be bothered with only 1000 people using the facility. I presume they assume that people have other and cheaper lines of credit (loans, overdrafts, credit cards, perish the thought savings), and if they haven't they don't feel they should encourage people to buy something they can't afford at rates of interest (or collection fees to keep Stu happy) which are usurious. But the lack of communication from the club has been bad.
  7. Depressing. Watched it with an Algerian guy here, so two depressed fans, although football's not important to him. But how pedestrian and predictable it all was. The only saving grace was that I didn't expect much more: I was hoping for a headed goal from a corner from one of our tall guys, but that was about it. When Saints bring on Papa Waigo or Antonio off the bench you think they might do something and there's a bit of a buzz, but does Wright-Phillips do the same for England? Does he ****! Where's the guile, pace, what the Italians call "fantasia", intelligence, oh ********. All those England fans with their flags and enjoying their holidays will go back to Chelmsford or wherever and think, great holiday and atmosphere and crap football and be relieved as all of us that they have a local team they probably support who'll give them far more honest satisfaction than watching England.
  8. My interpretation is that they are fully aware that what AA offers and what people actually receive are two vastly different things..
  9. Well, I should make the game as I'll be over, but I have a very bad record. Last Boxing Day (ptthhssst) was the first win I'd seen since moving over here.
  10. I'm with this opinion, there's a whole lot going on behind the scenes and occasionally front stage, like HMRC's question at the meeting. The fat lady hasn't sung yet and we're nowhere near the final curtain. It's more like one of those cliff-hanger series, "Pompey have their CVA, but what will happen next. See next week's thrilling episode..."
  11. According to the Firenze local rag the team want to sell another 6 players (not including PW) to free up money for the coach to spend on big names, but no offers yet. So I reckon they still want to sell and Southampton probably have as good a chance as any club if we really want him. I can't see those other offers being bigger, given the crowds and money in italian football, unless one of the foreign teams after him is in Germany.
  12. So, in the other article the agent says he won't return to Southampton; there is interest from 2 Italian and 2 foreign clubs and he might even stay at Fiorentina if Comotto goes. But.. "Tutto però verrà deciso quando il direttore Corvino sarà nuovamente a Firenze e valuterà sia la posizione del calciatore, sia le offerte di cui ho parlato.” But everything will be decided when the director Corvino is back in Firenze and assesses the the player's position and the offers I spoke about.
  13. Just seen this. That's my understanding too.
  14. W******, what Turkish is probably doing; or change it to an adjective....
  15. I think you are being a little obtuse there...
  16. Mwaah, ha, ha. I reckon they've been suspicious for a looong time. As to what is going on in response, that's why this thread is so interesting and entertaining, even if probably not always accurate..
  17. Bit hard on the keeper, but you know what they say about always coveering your near post. Leave the cross to the other defenders.
  18. It would make sense. Would that imply he has a second back-up proposal all ready? If he has it'll look a bit suspicious, eh?
  19. Watched Italy last night in an Italian bar: most of the locals wandered outside to smoke after about 20 minutes! It has been poor, but pleased for NZ's first world cup point! As you say, great header, (positioning, body shape, attack, direction) and I've seen more experienced players do a LOT worse!
  20. BUMP. Any news? I'm driving from Italy through Switzerland some time in July and having bought my Swiss motorway sticker might as well get a bit of value from it!
  21. So the OS article is dated Tuesday: they get first dibs as is only fair. But don't The Echo have an afternoon edition any more; it always used to be an afternoon/evening paper? What are The Echo doing trying to compete with the dailies? A storm in an egg-cup.
  22. It's not so much a dig at The Echo as agents: "agents publicly link their players with us for no other reason than to strengthen their position when negotiating contracts with other Clubs. That even extends as far as certain players declaring that they have been offered a contract by the Club when they have not". Also, although there were obviously negotiations before over Dickson and hence the rumours we've probably had to wait for the decision that we would accept a tribunal price, presumably once the two parties were fairly close on their valuations.
  23. Watched it in an Italian bar. Most of them disappeared outside for a fag and I couldn't blame them, and we thought we were dire! I predicted, about ten minutes into the game that neither team would score a goal in open play...
  24. I don't wear kit to matches (except finals..) but I do for running and training so might get myself one. Opinion seems generally to be pretty positive about the quality. Anyway, back to the kitchen. I might make some chocolate brownies to keep SRS's weight up.. made with Ex-Lax
  25. We have every confidence in your supplies of beer DP, plus the odd visit to your favourite dive to help things on their way.:-)
