  1. I don't know, but he can't be a s bad as RM in that respect, surely, where him and his coaching philosophy was supreme, even above the concept of winning!
  2. Yes, but see my point earlier about movement, which is where it all comes together. As for Sulemanna, he looks a lot better being more direct (with more effort?) against Arsenal, but I can't imagine Still will be happy with the lack of pace and effort we show in supporting breakaways. Stewart was trying but we either need a faster (fitter?) striker or more support to give options.
  3. I haven't really got much to compare it with but he seemed clear with what he wanted in his coaching style, essentially keeping it simple but his emphasis on movement was accompanied by plenty of detail on how to move. The bit about taking responsibility and not blaming other people was particularly apposite for Saints.. Mind you, his resting heart rate seems about 25 more than mine! Thanks for the link, I'm more encouraged now.
  4. It was in front of me but apart from mutterings from fans near me I hadn't realised either.. No strength, no pace, no urgency, no clever use of the body to put the attacker off. In other news.. wasn't it good to have a focal point in attack? As he get fitter Stewart looks more of an asset. Sulemana at least was trying, and although his decision making isn't the best it would certainly help if we had more options for him when he breaks. We had four first choice defenders missing (KWP, THB, Bednarek and Stephens) but I'm not sure we missed them that much, although what conclusions you can draw from that is dificult to say.. Had a few post match pints for a change and it was good to have a natter with various people about things Saints: trips to Europe, beer and all those other important things. Glad that a few lurkers here have the same opinion as I do about certain posters. Sorry to hear of other personal news: life, let alone Saint's performances can be shit. See you all next season. At least we can have a good break and won't have to wonder about the next manager conundrum: what a relief!
  5. Much ribaldry in the pub.. black humour response to that line up. I don't think it's entirely in Rusk's hands: more having to scrape the bottom of the barrel..
  6. The advantage of being on an early train to Southampton is I can't see any Arsenal fans (or Saints for that matter). Doing a text message sweepstake with friends on the time of their first goal. They've seen our weaknesses so 7 minutes, straight down the middle..
  7. Baylee Dipepa? He's in the U-21 squad although under age, I think..
  8. The bits I saw of the Palace game I thought they moved it quite quickly. Has the confidence evaporated like the first team. The defending in that clip was appalling.
  9. Brain fart or doubt about it?
  10. I was so annoyed with that that I actually replied to it, even if it probably disappeared into some void.
  11. I've just watched the last minute. I wouldn't disagree. How did Spurs get their goal??
  12. So not playing for a move then? I wonder if that will help some players' performances on Sunday? I know, I'm grasping at straws. In other musings I see Pep has been complaining about having too large a squad to work with and not even being able to include them all in a match day squad and having to leave some back in Manchester.. They'd be too expensive for us but any potential loans?
  13. I don't normally swear but, you must be ****ing joking! Can we come up with any special chants for the last game? I'm in the Itchen so have a few ideas for SR.. But for the team something like "attack, attack, attack" followed by the crowd collapsing into cynical laughter?
  14. Half?! Hardly any, I'd say. I might go and give some custom to The Guidedog which I used to visit on the way to the station when we'd won. Haven't been there for a year or so..
  15. I was admiring your optimism..
  16. Please, don't depress me more..
  17. Thank goodness I'm the only person in the pub watching the game, and I'm definitely wondering why I am. Gutless, effortless incompetence, and it's like we're playing with no centre backs. We don't press, no balls over the top, no shots, no movement off the ball, no support when a player does venture forward, slow playing about the back and then an over ambitious long pass to a marked player. Just aaaargh. Nice pint of Harvey's though..
  18. Have you seen many job adverts recently? If candidates had all the attributes asked for they wouldn't be applying to most of them and would certainly be asking for more money than offered. I think many football fans have similar unrealistic expectations as to whom we can recruit. And before you ask, I personally don't have a clue; not following enough football to be informed enough..
  19. I live in a PO post code and get asked that in the pub when I'm watching Saints on the box. The concept of family having moved around the country (and to other countries) escapes some of them.
  20. Yes, hidden colours and an innocent smile.. The only time I've been worried was at Alan Knight's testimonial, and having to dodge lumps of concrete lobbed over the wall.. My last away match was Sheffield Wednesday last season where I combined it with a trip to northern friends and it was a very relaxed atmosphere with some interesting chats with local fans who even gave me a lift back to my lodgings. I might try another trip north this season depending on early fixtures: when are they out?
  21. Nailed on? Was that deliberate?
  22. "Multi-season bans"? Guaranteeing a good turnout then..
  23. Oooh Mack, you little wind up merchant you. 🙂
  24. Don't be silly.. It will be arson. Perhaps keeping it is due to the Grade II listed dugouts?
