I've just watched the last minute. I wouldn't disagree. How did Spurs get their goal??
-
So not playing for a move then? I wonder if that will help some players' performances on Sunday? I know, I'm grasping at straws. In other musings I see Pep has been complaining about having too large a squad to work with and not even being able to include them all in a match day squad and having to leave some back in Manchester.. They'd be too expensive for us but any potential loans?

Saints 1-2 Arsenal - Thank F**k it’s All Over Thread
suewhistle replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
I don't normally swear but, you must be ****ing joking! Can we come up with any special chants for the last game? I'm in the Itchen so have a few ideas for SR.. But for the team something like "attack, attack, attack" followed by the crowd collapsing into cynical laughter? -
Half?! Hardly any, I'd say. I might go and give some custom to The Guidedog which I used to visit on the way to the station when we'd won. Haven't been there for a year or so..

I was admiring your optimism..

Please, don't depress me more..

Thank goodness I'm the only person in the pub watching the game, and I'm definitely wondering why I am. Gutless, effortless incompetence, and it's like we're playing with no centre backs. We don't press, no balls over the top, no shots, no movement off the ball, no support when a player does venture forward, slow playing about the back and then an over ambitious long pass to a marked player. Just aaaargh. Nice pint of Harvey's though..

Have you seen many job adverts recently? If candidates had all the attributes asked for they wouldn't be applying to most of them and would certainly be asking for more money than offered. I think many football fans have similar unrealistic expectations as to whom we can recruit. And before you ask, I personally don't have a clue; not following enough football to be informed enough..

I live in a PO post code and get asked that in the pub when I'm watching Saints on the box. The concept of family having moved around the country (and to other countries) escapes some of them.

Yes, hidden colours and an innocent smile.. The only time I've been worried was at Alan Knight's testimonial, and having to dodge lumps of concrete lobbed over the wall.. My last away match was Sheffield Wednesday last season where I combined it with a trip to northern friends and it was a very relaxed atmosphere with some interesting chats with local fans who even gave me a lift back to my lodgings. I might try another trip north this season depending on early fixtures: when are they out?

Nailed on? Was that deliberate?

"Multi-season bans"? Guaranteeing a good turnout then..

Oooh Mack, you little wind up merchant you. 🙂

Don't be silly.. It will be arson. Perhaps keeping it is due to the Grade II listed dugouts?

Spacial awareness, that's a phrase I was looking for. My comment above that he'd play a part next year wasn't specific but that's part of it. Not sturdily built and the physicality was more pace and balance to exploit the spaces he found. I only saw from 65 minutes though. As a team they showed what a bit of confidence can do, and the quickness of passing was a pleasure to see.

Robinson confirms he'll play a part next year, one or two others maybe later in the season?
-
More entertaining than the first team!

An observation that is made every year, but there is a cost for offering what is effectively credit and loads of hassle from those who abuse the system. It's not like it's a surprise that there is an upfront cost if you want a season ticket, although I'd agree football is generally expensive in this country. Buy via credit card and you could have a number of paydays to pay, and buy a piggy bank and each match day shove in the cost of a pint and come the next season you'll be ahead of yourself. If it's still a struggle my sympathies but maybe other bills will need priority, and stay friends with people who might be able to offer you a ticket occasionally!

Just had the email. 5% reduction if I renew before June 12..

I think solid midfield options have been lacking to defend the players behind them! Ugochukwu has certainly improved over the season with the experience, but we do need that level of physicality which we can see is startlingly absent in players like Smallbone.

What may be desirable isn't necessarily going to be practicable. Like selling cars you need to have something desirable to get a good price or sell it at all. Even WBAC might only give you scrap value for some of the old cans I've sold in the past. Turning players over will cost and you might get another dud. If (big one I know) we get promotion again that will be the time to make bigger changes. Some of the players will be good enough for another season in the Championship: Bree for example did a good job on Doku on Saturday and would do a job for us next season. He's certainly not a name that makes me groan when you hear he is in the line up: I remember Lee Todd, for example! 😉

Oh gawd, absolutely! Gradually the belief set in. Earlier I'd worried about the lack of an outlet player for our hacks clear, but how we could have done with some of those hacks clear to a distance earlier in the season! No faulting the discipline or effort and both full backs played well. Good point about subs too, and that hasn't often been the case this season as our subs often don't seem to get in to games well. Starting Dibling helped in that respect, and he worked well for the team too. What was that foul against him for BTW? I really hope we can spoil the party at Goodison next week..
-
Did he realise the significance of a point to us? Does he not realise they had an unused player on their bench that cost about the same as our whole team?
-
They didn't win. What a crap side..

To put prices in perspective the cost of my season ticket is about the cost of an hour's helicopter hire which my friend takes me flying in. She hates football and I'm beginning to as well.. But if they take the mickey on prices my renewal is not a foregone conclusion.
