  1. People should be forced to take jobs, if you don't have a job and one is in the job centre that matches your hard skills then it shouldn't be optional if you take it. Lot's of people unemployed can do the work that's out there but they are choosing not to, then blaming Mr Foreigner for taking 'our' jobs, when it's quite clear that some of our unemployed just don't want it. It's time to get tough with these lazy people, no doubt cut from the same cloth as those that say 'I'm better off on the dole, so why should I work?'.......tough, get out there and make something of yourself, everyone starts from the bottom, it's a question of attitude. I work 45 hours a week but still manage 6 hours voluntary work, it betters myself as I learn new skills and it gives something back to those who want to make use of the service - usually all from the Pakistani, Nepalese, Indian communities, those that I hope will then be able to communicate more clearly to allow them to get jobs that they can't at the moment because their English skills are so poor. Believe me, the Pakistani immigrants want the work and they will put the hours in if they are given a chance, maybe their really poor upbringing back in Pakistan has given them a clearer perspective and a bit of gratitude for the hand that will feed them and their families - if they are given the opportunity. The Brits have got lazy, it's with a heavy heart that I say that but it's true. All this Labour ****e over the last decade has given them the mentality that they are somehow aggrieved, or that society will do it all for them, I guess when you don't know any different, it's hard to understand. My grandad worked in the year of his death, he was in his eighties, he simply did a little bit of work from home as he said that it gave him a bit of pocket-money for the odd half down the legion club and gave his mind a bit of structure. I guess that sort of mentality is lost on the generation of today.
  2. I think this sums it up, however you look at it, they aren't working for nothing, they will still get certain benefits. "You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it” Dr Robert Smith
  3. Spot on. I was working at a NHS place in Lozells and Handsworth, mostly with Pakistani ladies. It was a strange feeling having my name called down Heathfield Road and being embraced by Pakistani ladies, in their traditional clothing, wanting to give me a hug for teaching them. They were so appreciative and didn't seem to have the feared social faux pas of mixing with people of my ilk. I think it was me that was the most uncomfortable with the hugging in broad daylight, but the more you scratch beneath the surface you realise that they just want to integrate and be included in the lives of people from different cultures too and they are a lot more liberated than I originally anticipated, some are very flirty. Also, we discuss our different festivals and contrary to popular belief, they took a great interest in remembrance day and even made poppies for the class as a gesture of respect for me. I'm the only white person in a class of 16, so it's been a good experience for me and I am pleasantly surprised at how some of my own perceptions were ill founded and that 2nd gen Muslim women are very openminded to life and change too.
  4. I just received this text from someone, what a strange attitude to take about the remembrance: "The government don't give a **** the rest of the year, soldiers coming home with injurys, then cutting their money" I don't see the connection with remembrance day, or am I missing something? It's very humbling, I quite agree, some of the stories from the families involved bring a lump to my throat.
  5. I don't think there's an exit for the M6, J5 (Southbound)either, pretty sure it goes J6 then 4 and 4a.
  6. Jeezzzz......we do have some knobhead fans. It wasn't a goal because it was disallowed, well thanks for that, I would never have known....lol So, if Channons goal had stood, was it a better goal than that? I'm sure you get the jist? I'm assuming that some have the mental capability of being able to understand the question without pedantic, even though I stated it was offside anyway The script will now be about the semantics of my original question, rather than someone having the common sense to answer the question itself.....welcome to Saintsweb.
  7. Was it better than the one at the Dell in the eighties? The one that was disallowed.
  8. How long before the leeches start selling their stories about his private life? Sad to say but i'm sure there will be people looking to make money from this. RIP Jimmy
  9. Thanks Pap. I will ask around. What causes file corruption and is there a way to correct it? Update - I have found a back up, it's a ew months old but better than nothing. The files open on the back up floppy on a very old laptop that i have but not on the newer laptop. The new laptop doesn't have ms office at all, it uses openoffice.
  10. Thanks Pedg. I have tried openoffice but still the same problem. I have even tried opening them in wordpad but it's still the same. I have a gut feeling that I will need to buy the latest MS office version to solve this, which is just crazy.
  11. I recently created a number of documents using another PC, just simple things like a CV and saved them to a USB stick. However now I have saved the documents onto my PC, they won't open and those that do are a total mess. Sometimes it will ask me about 'ASCII filter options', even when I ensure it's Western European it still opens messy with strange letters, small boxes etc. Any suggestions on how to get these documents to work again. On the PDF files, it won't open them at all, 'the selected document can't be opened' is the error message I get. NOTE: I think the documents may have been created using the latest version of MS Word as the persons laptop was new. This was a trial version though and I think it's expired and I don't have any MS word programmes on my laptop. I really need help with this as they are important documents. Ta
  12. I agree with Phil. I don't think we played well in one game, we were so average and we could have got a big beating today if France were particularly good. Wales or Ireland would have kicked our asses anyway. They can go on the **** though now, i'm sure the players will be happy about that.
  13. [h=1]HTC WILDFIRE S - BLACK - UNLOCKED - ROOTED - 2.3 SENSE[/h][h=2]2.3 W/Sense - S-Off - Fully Rooted[/h] £199 Is this a good price? I don't understand the technical stuff: Fully rooted?
  14. I have just found out that one of the apps that I will need only works with an Android device that is running OS 2.0 or later, I assume the 'Desire' meets that requirement?
  15. Ok, can I conclude that if you are going to but an HTC android then the 'Desire' is the pick of the bunch? I just need a phone that allows me to use apps, is reliable, unlocked etc. My phone at the moment doesn't even have wap or picture messaging, so I am looking to get back into the modern world.
  16. She would never have been found guilty in a British court. That's not because we have a good sytem but that case was a shambles from day one, almost as inept as the Portugese cops with Madeleine McCann. I feel sorry for her and the Kerchers. How she was ever convicted with no real evidence is beyond me.
  17. For all the NC doubters, haters and so on, let's look at this scenario 1) NC to stay, warts and all, we take him as he is, rights and wrongs as they are all part of his vision. 2) NC to go and we look for a new chairman again, he might give free tickets to our legends, he might take the club further, quicker. Which would you choose, the situation that we are in now or the one that could be with a new man at the helm. How many would roll the dice? Stick or twist? I am for the first option. We haven't had it so good in years and yet we can't wait to stick the knife in and twist it hard. I wished some players could have free tickets and so on, it would be nice but that's it. NC is controlling all areas and just wishes to be consistent, if he gives some without others, he undermines the philosophy that he has in place. Rewards will be given to those that contribute in the present time to the long-term plan and vision that he his constantly mind-mapping and it's for the benefit of us all, for our future. It may be harsh but the cards are laid on the table, no double standards, no hidden aganda, just a simple message: I am steering this ship, if you are with me then work together with me and trust my decisions, if you are not, then walk the plank - The choice is yours. Ultimately, some fall into line and some seek to undermine. NC seems to make the point that if you choose to undermine, then you are not welcome. That might go against the grain with some but you can't please all of the people, all of the time. So, stick with him or shall we twist? Who want's to roll the dice and start all over again? Not me!

  19. There is a low percentage of prisoners who don't have a tattoo or who don't smoke. A bit random I know. As I said earlier, I stopped wanting to draw on myself when I was in primary school. I think the last time I wanted to have one was when I had one of those 1p bubble gums that included a small print that you licked and pressed on your skin.
  20. I stopped wanting to draw on myself when I was about six.
  21. I had a great time there. If you want cheaper beer (away from the posh places) but still full of life, go past the Hotel Monopol and turnleft. Monopol is on the Reeperbahn - it's expensive on this street. Tickets you get from fanland which is on the St Pauli website. i think the bar that the St Pauli fans drink is called 'Timmys Bar', it's kitted out with lots of celtic memorabilia, due to their close links. It's worth a drink on a matchday but can get lively, if you don't like smoking then don't go in there as it'll take your breath away. Technically Hamburg is a non-smoking place but they're not that officiousor strict (well not when I was there anyway).
  22. There won't be a state pension in about thirty years, at some point in the future you will be on your own. The NHS will have to go too(in it's present form) Feel free to abuse me, quote articles etc but we all know that the projected costs of the NHS/State pension are totally beyond any government to manage, due to (you know what, but we can't say). The only way it will still exist, in it's present form is by taxing those that create the wealth even further, and that isn't fair. I'm all for the NHS/welfare state/a good pension but it's all being abused beyond belief and the burden on the state isn't manageable in the not too distant future.
  23. On the way to Brighton for a cup game.
  24. There are so many but are we talking about live performances here or in general? If it's live then it's hard to sometimes sound in tune, even if you are. A lot of venues have poor acoustics, others are fantastic, hence it's hard to gauge if it's the singer, the venue, the general feel of the gig etc I remember being in Hamburg and a band called OMD were performing, I like a bit of their early stuff so got a ticket, the gig absolutely rocked and yet their lead singer is supposed to be terrible. On the night, he sounded good to me.
