But slowing things down isn't always his fault - he's looking for the telling pass and if there's no movement that's a problem. I'd have him ahead of Boufal and Redmond all the time. I'd go with that too. After the more spirited performance on Sunday I get the feeling we won't see much of Boufal and Redmond from now on, and certainly not Carrillo. Even Gabbiadini may struggle to get a look in. And I'm happy with that. We created far more against Arsenal without our so-called creative players. Having now watched the sendings off on TV I can only reflect that the game has come to a sorry state. I'll reluctantly accept that according to the letter of the law, the Stephens incident could be violent conduct as he raised his arm, but the push was only to the chest. The Arsenal one seemed even less serious. But isn't it ridiculous that a player can blatantly hold on to an opponent's shirt for several seconds and about 20 yards, finally half ripping it off his back, and that is just a caution for ungentlemanly conduct. But, if by doing that, he provokes the opponent into my physical retaliation, it's a red. Ludicrous, because it just encourages fouling and niggling to try to get a sending- off. Maybe not a total disaster, but the defensive line-up we had would probably have been a good shout against Chelsea, and that option has gone. Although I'd consider Bertrand as the third CB bringing McQueen in. Wonder if it's worth appealing the red? Probably not as it was deemed violent conduct and retaliation, but it was pretty mild given what he was being subjected to. And it really angers me that it happened because Marriner didn't spot or stop the shirt pulling, which was very poor.
